Funky monkey

I have had a couple of the sweet treat crepes while at the Falls Church Farmers Market. Most recently I had the Funky Monkey and my hubby went with the cinnamon sugar. They were both super tasty. I think I might try one without the Nutella just to have a better taste of the crepe itself. When I brought my brother a few months back he enjoyed the sweet treat as well. I nice yummy treat to munch while checking out the other vendors at the market.

Ordered a small 8 inch Nutella mousse cake for my father's birthday and it was excellent. Loved how it was different and beautifully decorated with fresh strawberries! There were 9 of us and we had plenty left over! Highly recommend! Next time I think I will try the sweet cream filling!

I've been wanting to try Kate's Crepes but awhile now and was happy that I was finally able to try it today at the falls church farmers market. We ordered the Tuscan Tomato & Spinach with Ham savory crepe. Total would have been $9 ($1 extra for ham) but there was a discount for $1 off if you check in on facebook. The wait was probably around 10 minutes and they make the crepe right in front of you. While the crepe was delicious, I dont think it was worth $9, there should be more ham and tomatoes and less spinach. There was so much spinach without any pesto that it left a very dry feeling in my mouth after. Worth a try if you haven't been but I think I don't think this place makes the cut for what I look for in savory crepes. Perhaps the sweet crepes are better so if next time i find myself here, I will try the sweet crepes instead.

My daughter refused to get her face out of her crepe long enough to look at the camera

Wonderful service, and sooooo good. I love the beautiful, different flavor combinations. She makes amazing crepe cakes too.

I had the ham and swiss and the Funky monkey with Nutella. Both were tasty. Get there early before the line starts.

Had the Tuscan. The crepe was too thick, and the ingredients were barely warm. It tasted like spinach salad.

I really enjoyed it and thought the flavors blended with each other nicely. I downed it with a chai latte that was milky and sweet but not cloying. The pricing is reasonable ($8 for savory crepes). I look forward to seeing the truck next Friday to sample their veggie crepe or maybe one of the sweet crepes.

So I was pumped when our crepe loving stars finally aligned and I had the opportunity to try the hype. I already had dinner and wasn't quite feeling the sweet options on their menu (yes we all know I'm picky!) They were more than willing to make me whatever I wanted so I gave them the ingredients to the best crepe I've ever had (up in NJ of all places) to see if they could recreate it. And they came pretty close...about 95% there but not quite 100. Sorry guys! Still, it was delicious and just as good cold the next day, which is my ultimate test since I can't ever finish anything in one sitting. Most importantly! It's not everyday you get to see the whole food truck ordeal as they park, prep, etc. I swear I'm not a creeper! My condo looks out over where they parked. They arrived well in advance with plenty of time to prep. Very professional from I could tell. Looking forward to trying something savory the next time around!

J'aimemadeleine was such a find!…read more I was lucky enough to stumble upon this madeleine stand at a local farmers market! Owned by a former White House chef and a French Embassy Executive chef, Chef Patrice offers deliciously hand-crafted madeleines that are glazed and free from any preservatives! I ordered a box of dozen madeleines (Strawberry, Orange, French Vanilla, Lemon, Pistachio, Oreo Cookie Topping, Salted Caramel, and Coconut), a financier, and some sables (French butter cookies), filled with Nutella, strawberry, and apricot. The madeleines were just SO good - they were soft, and I absolutely loved the glaze on the top! They last about a week, if you want to eat them warm, you can zap them in the microwave for about 5-10 seconds! Chef Patrice was so friendly and welcoming, and even speaking with him, you can't help but get super excited to try his treats! I'd love to check out his palmiers and the freshly-baked French brioche loaves next time! Make sure you follow him on social media to see where he pops up next - you won't regret it! +ask for Chef Patrice! +deliciously glazed madeleines! +appearances at local farmers markets! +online ordering available!

They were dry and not very flavorful. We ordered what looks like the standard catering order - ribs, pulled pork, brisket, gaucho chicken, jerk chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, and garlic mac & cheese. With slider buns. Curley talked with me on the phone, going over not only the number of individuals, but specifically about their appetites - he was focused on making sure I didn't run out of food, which I appreciate! Even though I ordered within less than a week of the event, Curley didn't bat an eye. Delivery? No problem. Food arrived nice and hot in heat-retaining travel cases, with serving instruments and sauces. Everyone went through at least two rounds of food, and we still had leftovers! Our friends were more than happy to take plates of food home and we are still eating ours two days later! My kids are really into the pulled pork. One friend remarked that BBQ'd chicken always seems dry, but that this chicken was anything but. The ribs are award-winning for a reason: delicious. You don't even need any sauce on them. "Just the right amount of fat without being greasy," declared one self-proclaimed BBQ expert friend. I was turned on to Curley's Q because my brother had ordered catering for his wedding reception two years ago, and I remembered it was tasty and the food was popular. Really appreciated the direct, helpful communication from Curley...he made the whole process very easy and enjoyable. So - you have a hungry group of people with discriminating tastes and big appetites? You can't go wrong with Curley's Q. THANK YOU CURLEY!
