Very inconspicuous shop! I was pleasantly surprised to be able to discover more and more things while here during the visit. First I was greeted by a customer while I was reading the outside sign on a pumpkin spicy latte, a customer that was leaving stopped and turned and explained it was everything and do good and if I have not, I must as they put actual pumpkin puree inside not just that pump pump stuff. So I was sold walking in. Next up was home made cookies making ice cream sandwich's by the front door. before I could even get through the line to the front, I was greeted with more baked goods, cupcakes, scones, macroons, dog biscuits - normal biscuits! So I went to town ordering a variety being asked by my lil and my inner child. While sipping on my now, pumpkin spiced latte from here, I saw actual meals being served and I missed out on ordering sandwiches from the back :( Something I will be coming back for! I did get up and order more things, like a fall inspired cookie ice cream sandwhich, all alone by itself in a sea of other flavors, I had to rescue it. And the sour macrons! Was looking for something sweet and this place was pretty close to the hotel. I decided to try the cake and pie. The lady behind the counter also gave me a free cookie to try. Bake shop is my go to bakery in this area, my favorite place to get a sweet treat. The Falls Church one is just as awesome as Arlington, the parking lot is a bit tighter so keep that in mind. I absolutely love their macaroons, they are so big and perfect perfectly made, the pistachio one is my favorite. I love to see that the staff was not only super friendly, but was very aware and sanitary. When I ordered and was picking out my macaroons, they changed gloves after touching the pistachio ones before touching any of the others. Delicious baked goods, the Xtreme Cookie Dough Cupcake and Frozen Hot Chocolate Pie are my faves! The Frozen Hot Chocolate Pie hits the spot with a chocolate mousse, Oreo crust, and topped with whipped cream. The Xtreme Cookie Dough Cupcake is a moist cupcake with chocolate chips and a nice cookie dough frosting on top. Whenever Bakeshop announces it has these cupcakes on Instagram, I try to make a trip to the bakery to snap a cupcake! The fudgey Brownie was pretty moist and also tasty. The Oreo in a Blanket, which is a stuffed Oreo in a chocolate chip cookie, is fun to try and best heated up for 15 seconds. Otherwise it's rock hard (I've learned my lesson over the years!). The Almond Croissant was a bit of a miss, it had a sweet almond frosting cream instead of the traditional yellow frangipane creamy custard. The baked goods can be stale, they aren't baked daily. So check/carefully inspect the pastries before buying. I ordered a cookie cake from the Clarendon location and it was dry and rock hard. Quick update to say that their berry scones and almond croissants are both worth a try. As a native Flordian, their Key Lime Pie is one of the better ones I've had outside my beloved homeland and I'll back to get that again. Their coffee (especially the chickory and Vietnamese) are also always worth a try. Everyone is very friendly here and they do their best to keep the line moving fast but keep in mind the place isn't huge so if they're crowded you might want to get your order to go. Bake shop is a hidden gem in Falls Church! We went for the first time two weeks ago and then went back a second time for more. It's pretty unassuming in a strip mall near Aldi, but we were pleasantly surprised when we went in. They have cookies, cakes, cupcakes, scones, coffee and more. We tried the chocolate chip, m&m, brookie, and the cranberry orange white chocolate cookies. All were delicious, the brookie was my favorite! I came by for late night desserts, and the cashier was very knowledgeable and willing to give suggestions! She recommended the gluten free brownie, but ultimately I went with a brookie with vanilla ice cream. I had to search the box for one with vanilla, but it was SO worth it! It's huge and so delicious and the flavor of both combined and was so so good! It was pretty frozen solid and I was pleasantly surprised that it did not melt for my 35 min drive home. It was actually the right consistency for when I got home to devour! My friends who bought one and at it right away still enjoyed it but it was so hard for them to eat. I got two Gingersnap cookies and a Nutella pie. The cookies were very stale - I was incredibly disappointed, especially since I remember this same cookie from the Clarendon location a few years ago was decadent. Staff is very friendly and helpful in answering questions and providing recommendations! Presentation of the baked goods was 10/10, so many different kinds of flavors for the desserts. I ordered the Vietnamese cold brew, which was perfectly bold with subtle sweetness to accompany the robust coffee notes. The Vietnamese coffee cake didn't taste like coffee at all, it just tasted like chocolate cake, but it was perfectly moist and tasty nonetheless -- the name is just slightly deceiving. We tried several things (all for the non-selfish reason of being able to write a more complete review for humanity of course....). Our favorite was the aforementioned brownie cookie. I absolutely love the ambiance of Bakeshop! It's a very quaint, yet modern, cafe with a lovely mural on one inside wall. They have a very large variety of treats: cupcakes, cookies, pie, cake, ice cream, pudding, macarons, brownies, coffee and probably more I'm forgetting. They have a freezer filled with different combinations of ice cream sandwiches, and I grabbed a brookie + cookies n cream sandwich. It was a HUGE sandwich and very tasty. I also ordered a funfetti macaron, snickerdoodle cookie, and a brookie. The macaron was super cute and tasted just like funfetti. The snickerdoodle was on the light side in terms of cinnamon, but it was still delicious. The brookie was just alright, I don't think I would order it again. Unfortunately, my experiences here have always been below average - not sure if it's the overall vibe or what, but the staff here, no matter what day and time I've gone in, has always been standoffish and not welcoming. You kind of feel like you're being a pain for just stepping foot in the place, and it's not a great feeling to have. Their menu items are similar, if not the same, as their Arlington's location, but I feel that there's either a lack of quality control when items are being made (like their breakfast biscuit sandwiches being served cold and the Vietnamese coffee being watered down). I visited this coffee shop after stopping by a nearby eatery. It is located in a retail strip plaza. I experienced their location in Georgetown and figured I'd give this location a try. On this visit I purchased coffee only but I noticed their dessert variety is similar to their location in Georgetown, however just in smaller quantities. This location is relatively smaller on the inside compared to the Georgetown location, however that makes it a little more cozy on the inside. Customer service was ok. The coffee was not worth mentioning. They do offer specialty teas, so the next time I am in the area I will give their teas a try and perhaps some of their signature macarons and other sweet treats. As we walk in, all the displays look gorgeous, they have homemade oat milk ice cream on the right side and other items in the fridge. There were so many selections it was overwhelming.
