This is our 2nd visit to Kathmandu. First time was in the evening. It looks different during the day, but still colorful. We ordered take-out which included Onion Pakora, Gobi Manchurian, Garlic Naan, Paratha, Chicken Curry and Chicken Vindaloo. Saman was our friendly, patient order taker. There were 11 diners here at noon time. We got take out and food was ready in about 10 minutes. The owner/chef wasn't in today and it was evident. The Gobi Manchurian wasn't what I expected and wouldn't order it again. The Onion Pakora's were okay, not as good as last time. My Chicken Vindaloo and my wife's Chicken Curry were on the watery side, not thick gravy like last time. The Garlic Naan was okay, not as good as last time. The Paratha was very greasy, not what I expected, but it worked out when I baked it for leftovers. Kathmandu was my favorite Indian/Nepalese restaurant, but on this visit not so much. There is another Indian restaurant closer to home I haven't tried that will get a chance to be my favorite next time I choose to order Indian food. I think I will try Kathmandu again sometime, but call ahead to ensure Purna, the owner is cooking. He is the Best.

YUM! We chose this restaurant for takeout on a whim and it was the best decision we could've made. I actually read a lot of Yelp reviews to decide on what I order and was glad I did! We ordered the chilli chicken, lamb saag, raita, fried momos and garlic naan. EVERYTHING was amazing! We got the chilli chicken in mild and the lamb saag in medium. The medium was definitely quite spicy but I loved it. I wish I did both medium. Both entrees were delicious! The raita was perfect to counter the spicy bites. Honestly I could drink this stuff. This was my first time trying momos and they were really good. The sauce made the dish We ordered to to-go but still had a wonderful experience with the staff. Friendly, efficient and helpful. Will DEFINITELY be returning to this place.

Looking for a taste of authentic Nepali cuisine? Look no further than @Kathmandu Kitchen and Bar! I enjoyed the takeout yesterday, marking my 5th visit this year, and each time leaves me craving more! From the delicious Chicken momo to the flavorful goat curry, chicken chowmein, and chicken biryani, every bite transports me back to my home country- Kathmandu, Nepal. Despite traveling 45 minutes, the experience was well worth it. Personally, I can't get enough of their chicken momo and chicken chowmein - they are delicious! I chose mild spice so I could taste all the flavors without it being too spicy. Lastly, the food prices are very reasonable, and portions are very generous. Also, the owners are amazing - a Nepali couple who put a lot of love into their food. Their warmth and hospitality are evident in every bite. Do yourself a favor and give Kathmandu Kitchen and Bar a try - you won't regret it! Here are the pictures of my food. #AuthenticNepaliCuisine #HiddenGem #MustTryFood #SupportLocalOwners

Oh my god! I just had the best chicken chow mein of my life! It was out of this world. If you love spicy food, I highly recommend trying chicken chow mein. It's made street style like the ones you get in Kathmandu, Nepal. Amazingly flavorful!! Must try. I also got chicken momo which was good too. The prices are reasonable and the food came out promptly. I highly recommend this place.

I'm pretty sure this restaurant used to be called Mt. Everest way back when and was located in another part of Bardstown Rd. At the time when I went, it was super new. Now, this place has renamed themselves and is located over by Borsalino's. The parking lot is a little weird, since there aren't tons of spots and it shares with Borsalino's. The space inside is small. They can seat a lot of groups, but I can see it filling up fast. When my friends and I came for lunch around 1:00 on Friday, lots of people were dining in. They left a jug of water on the table for us. This was needed since some of our food was spicy! They have 3 spice levels: mild, medium, and spicy. I ordered the chicken thukpa mild, while another friend ordered the paneer mild. My two other friends ordered theirs medium. They got the chicken biryani and the veggie chowmein. We shared veg momo and the aloo paratha (a bread with potato in it). Medium heat was too spicy for us! We were sweating and drinking our water to mitigate the hot hot spice! Wow! Portions are generous here, so you could easily split a meal with someone. Prices aren't bad either. Service was good and food didn't take too long to be brought out to us. Everything tasted really good!

This unassuming little restaurant is truly a hidden gem. For authentic Nepali (and Indian) food, look no further. We were seated immediately at a comfy booth, and given plenty of time to peruse the menu. We ordered steamed vegetable mo mo (GET THESE) for a starter, which was absolutely the right choice. I tried the vegetable thukpa, a delicious soup of noodles, spicy broth, and veggies - pretty much perfection. The pricing is exceptionally reasonable, with most vegetarian entrees priced under $10. With so many veggie options and such excellent service, we really have no excuse but to go back again. And again. And again.

We ordered mutton biryani and chicken wings for carry out. The biryani was a lot (enough for two) and it was really delicious. I'd suggest to get the normal spice level because the mild was really NO spice. The chicken wings were so crunchy and flavorful! I'd definitely get it again. Two thumbs up for both of these dishes.

This is up there for the best Indian food in town. I would say it is the best Indian food in town, but my girlfriend would be mad at me.

Amazing selection of cuisine. The vegetarian options are spot on and the paneer korma was a favorite of mine.

Off-putting, but not the end of the world. Once I finally got my food it had the nerve to be BLAND! I was shocked. I ordered the vegetable biryani medium and both my partner and I had to double check I didn't order Mild. I genuinely could not believe the spice level was accurate as my "Medium" tasted so plain. My peshwari naan, which I'm used to being folded tightly with a generous amount of cashews, raisins and coconut, had mostly cashews and I'm not even kidding, only 3 golden raisins. It was slightly burnt, barely sweet, and short of my expectations. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention how LITTLE mango chutney we received. After paying $3 for 2 ounces, the little container wasn't even half filled. I understand it's a small side but that level of stinginess could not go overlooked. I've heard so many good things about this place, but was ultimately disappointed in every area as a takeout order. Admittedly I probably should have ordered spicy, given how I prefer things on the hotter side, but that doesn't change that medium spice should still have vibrant, delicious flavor and my food unfortunately had none of that. I will not be returning. :/

Unfortunately, there was no option to request utensils and they didn't include any, so this whole meal was a bust. I'm not taking that out on the review here, just making a note so hopefully they take note to include that option. The hotel I was in didn't have any, and most places around were closing so I was out of luck. I ended up having to fashion some sort of scoop out of the styrofoam container that the rice came in. Did it work? No. But was it at least serviceable? Also no. It was a freaking mess and I basically ended up pitching it. But from what I could taste in between dripping bites all over my hotel room was pretty good! I went with the basics and got a chicken tikka masala. It was not quite the medium spice level, so I'd round up if you like spicey. The chicken was great quality; very tender and flavorful, definitely the highlight. The vegetable samosas were nice and easy to eat so I had two of these which are always good. Same feedback as above, needs a little more spice and flavor in the filling but solid. So all in all, in the unique situation of arriving late and getting hung out to dry on utensils, not great. But the food and prices and everything else were fair to good, so I kind of land in the middle with this one.

The food tasted great, but the spice level left a lot to be desired. My partner ordered Spicy and felt it was still lacking in hard hitting spice. I'd say this is a great place for introducing someone to Indian food. Everything was still delicious but it's far from the most incredible Indian food I've ever had. A very safe option for sure. If you struggle with hot food, give this place a try! If you're looking for ultimate flavor, I'd say pass.
