I'm a big fan of Indian food and I typically order it when I'm on the road. So after settling into my hotel room during a trip to Louisville, I did a quick search on Yelp and found Tikka House. Fellow Yelp Elite Emily H. had great things to say so I was sold. They also had my favorite dish. Ding, ding! I ordered for pickup directly off their website and was given a 20 minute wait time. When I arrived, there was plenty of parking out front, as it's in a small strip mall. When I walked in no one greeted me. I called out for someone a few times... nothing. After several minutes I noticed my food sitting on a table behind the counter. After calling out again and not getting an answer, I grabbed my food and left. It was paid for and I was hungry so I peaced out. Once I got back to my room I was starving so I dug right in. However, there weren't any napkins or utensils in the bag so I had to wait for room service. I guess that's what I get for just grabbing my food and bouncing. That being said, when it was time to eat, I enjoyed every bite. I ordered the navratan korma. This dish is super creamy and packed full of vegetables like carrots, peas, and cauliflower. It came with rice and I also got some of their bullet naan, which was spicy! All of it was really good but I probably would have gotten a mild spice level for my entree had a noticed how spicy the naan would be. Oh, and I got an order of the veggie samosa (3 pieces) and they were great, and enormous. Of course, I had leftovers which made for good snacking. I would be happy to eat here again!

Tikka House is one of my favorite Indian restaurants. It's got great tasting food that will fill you up. This time, I got the lamb korma with butter naan. Tikka provides nimki to every table (like chips at a Mexican restaurant), and they are delicious. It tastes so good and gets your appetite ready. The lamb korma was great. It doesn't look like a lot because it comes in a small dish, but there is more than it seems and it is very filling, especially with the unlimited rice. The butter naan was excellent and paired nicely with the lamb korma. The environment is very nice. It's calm and quiet and has a lot of seating. It's a tidy looking place with dim lighting that sets a nice dinner atmosphere. The servers are all very sweet. Our table didn't get too much attention so sometimes our waters ran dry, but if you call for the servers they are very responsive and friendly. Tikka House is an excellent place for Indian food that tastes great and fills up your stomach. It's a nice place to eat at and one of my favorites in Louisville!

got take out here. the restaurant itself seemed clean and peaceful. i ordered chicken tikka masala (which came with rice) and garlic naan. the serving size is great (about two servings for me). i loved the garlic naan but felt that the chicken tikka masala was just ok. not bad but not as good as i've had at other restaurants.

Soo good, everyone was very friendly and coming from another state the prices were very good

First off I am thankful for Tikka Houses hours. We had a lot going on yesterday morning so we needed a late lunch spot. All the Indian places that are close to my area closed at 2:30 but not Tikka House, they were open from noon to 9. We were promptly greeted & seated upon arrival. They brought use out waters and a delicious little appetizer of some sort of chips and sauces that I loved! The entrees came out quick and hot! We ordered the Gobi Manchurian (fried cauliflower) it was very yummy, would have liked it a touch crispier but the flavor was great. I got the Chicken Tandoori, the chicken was so flavorful, moist on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside (apparently I was wanting crispy foods). It came with a tomato sauce on the side that had just a hint of sweetness, it was delicious. Easily the best tandoori I've had. My husband ordered the chicken korma and he really enjoyed it. Spice was good and very creamy! Oh and last but not least the garlic Naan was delicious, had just enough char on the bottom and it was huge! Food was good. Service was good. All in all I would recommend and will for sure be going back.

So went here thinking that there was a lunch buffet, unfortunately no longer offering it. Info needs to be updated on Yelp. Nonetheless, pleasantly surprised with the taste and freshness of the food. Everything ordered was amazing. The flavors have no words, just the right amount of spice. The sauce provided was outstanding. Fast and pleasant service provided. So much food, had to box the left overs. The place is small and clean. Parking lot available. Definitely highly recommended if you are looking for something different, tasty, fresh, at a reasonable cost. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Tikka House. Maybe because of the name, I had the chicken tikka masala. It was delectable as I've come to expect. Indian food just hits the spot!

I started with a huge center cut pork chop. It had a great grilled flavor and a very interesting tomato based sauce. Next there was tasty smoked sausage which was surrounded by a large variety of grilled vegetables. I don't eat veggies but I could tell those who do would be happy as well. Then I had some tasty taco beef and I topped it with some cool bean sauce and cheese and sour cream. I also had a nice piece of steak very flavorful. The iced tea was nice and strong. I also had a glass of orange and even it was better than normal it was strong on syrup with a good bite. Next the deserts. At first I was disappointed because they looked like they came from Walmart. However, when I tasted them I was blown away again. The lemon cake was moist and tasted like the delicious lemon archway cookies from my childhood. Next I tried a pumpkin cream log. The spices were perfect and the filling had an excellent balance of tangy cream cheese and sweet. The lunch buffet was $15 drink included. Not only was it the most real and flavorful meal I've had in years but the couple running the place are super friendly and keep the buffet very well maintained. The place was completely clean including the restrooms. The only thing I was missing was some bread or mashed potatoes, but I think they have those sometimes just not the day I went.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here two Fridays ago ahead of a bourbon tour (thinking, correctly, that we should probably have a hearty meal beforehand so we didn't end up face-first in a gutter somewhere). Several Kentucky natives told us that we had to try a Hot Brown during our visit, and since it was literally created at the Brown Hotel, this seemed like the logical spot. The actual Hotel has some gorgeous interiors, especially upstairs in the lobby. We didn't see that area until after our meal, so when we laid eyes on the Lobby Bar & Grill, we knew immediately that that was where we SHOULD have gone for this Hot Brown dish. J. Graham's, I'm sorry to say, doesn't have the history and personality of the rest of the building and just looks like a generic breakfast spot you'd find in any hotel. It probably exists solely because the other dining options in the hotel aren't open until later and they want to give tourists and their own customers a place to eat at all times of the day, which isn't a terrible reason in my book. But it's also unfortunately not very good, and the dirty walls and overall meh appearance of the establishment just make it very clear that the hey day for this hotel overall was decades ago. The service was the biggest miss here. Our waitress was scatterbrained, often not around or around but hanging out with co-workers or talking up other customers. It was honestly pretty mystifying because when she DID come by, she was often overly apologetic and trying to make amends. But the best way to make amends is not to have to keep doing that throughout the meal. She forgot my friend's coffee (didn't write anything down when we ordered, which is fine if you remember everything but...) and when my chum asked what was in the hummus (one of just three apps), she didn't know and had to go ask someone in the kitchen. That's arguably a nitpick and she DID try to figure it out, but the lunch menu is pretty small and it was a little odd that her menu knowledge was that limited. The bigger problem was that we were in there for over half an hour longer than we wanted to be because she wouldn't come by our table. I actually actively looked for her on the way to the bathroom so I could remind her to come to our table, but instead found her off to the side gossiping with other staff. Not a good look at all. So this might have been an overall positive experience if some of the hospitality from the hotel had spilled over here. We actually both enjoyed the apps, which were the only real positives of the experience. The Bourbon Barrel Fries and the Two Timer, featuring Smoked Bourbon Hummus (bourbon tends to be the theme of your days in this town, I've found) were both really good, and I probably ate more of those than the actual entree. The fries were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned/addictive. The Hot Brown was fine for what it was (we split it to try). It's basically a dramatic turkey melt, with slices of turkey coated in cheese and other sauces. It also came with strips of bacon on top, which on a personal palate level I didn't think really helped the dish so I barely nibbled on those. It's definitely a solid entry but it wasn't mind-blowing for either of us. Maybe it's just from where we come from in the Northeast, but I'm conditioned to like my turkey with accompanying stuffing, and usually in the latter part of November. I think it felt kind of weird to be eating turkey with warm cheese. But I'm glad we tried it and got the context at least. You might have a completely different experience with better service, but I'd still recommend going upstairs for any dining. It's a much better atmosphere and you can really appreciate where this hotel fits in the chronology of Louisville. You're not going to get that from going here.
