The food is good, the service is very friendly and the place is clean. That one star review of this place is unjust. The food is actually great and not salty at all and while we did not have the "drinks", which I am assuming to mean the bubble tea, many regulars seemed to come in while we were there to order it. We ordered three things on their menu and all were delicious. They actually mixed up one item on our order (combination of my accent and a new server) but we decided to keep what they gave us as we tried something we'd never had before and it was delicious. Take out or eat-in dumpling place in Bay Ridge. We had lunch in the storefront which is modern and nicely decorated. Kathy is very friendly and they bring everything to you. We had steamed Pork dumplings with cabbage and the Seafood dumplings along with the Indian Pancake (with a sauteed curry chicken) and some beef skewers with cumin. The dumplings were delicious! The hot and sour soup was okay. There was a lot of soy sauce that over powered the flavor of the dish. It tasted more like hot soup without the sour. The vermicelli salad actually ended up having no vermicelli. It was just a salad consisting of chopped vegetables. The shrimp spring rolls were also a delicious treat. I was initially skeptical when this place opened, because it looked like one of those overpriced dumpling places I've seen a lot in Manhattan, but I've been pleasantly surprised by their unique and delicious menu. I've ordered from there and eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. These are my favorites: 1- Cold Noodles. So simple yet so good. Noodles with a very light peanut sauce, with shredded carrots, celery and cilantro. Not greasy at all and perfect in the summer. I've ordered this 5 or 6 times. 2- Chicken and Pork dumplings with Carrot Juice- the dumplings themselves are moist and delicious, but what makes them unique is the carrot juice incorporated in the wrapping. It adds a subtle extra flavor without being overpowering- love them! 3- Bean Curd Soup- Again, very simple, but surprisingly flavorful. Not sure exactly what's in it, but I think they use mushroom in the broth which adds a rich flavor. Definitely recommend ordering from there if you want a different sort of dumplings or noodles! If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered on seamless at 7:45pm it said about 30 min wait time, 30 mins came an went no food. It's now 8:45 my boyfriend calls and they said seamless had an issue with there system (lie) that our order just came in now. Meanwhile we got a confirmation email and text. They said it would be about another 20 mins, now being almost 9pm we figured we would just wait, my boyfriend decided to call seamless to ask if there was really an issue and they said nothing was wrong on there end, they called the place and they said they were putting the order together an we would get it around 9:40. So now it's 40 mins later! All in all a terrible ordering experience. Food came even later around 9:50. Not even an offer for a discount or a future discount, try and make use feel better that we waited 2 hours for dumplings. And the food was terrible in the end anyway, every dumpling was sopping wet, not in a good way. Water pouring out of them, the meat seemed slimy. The bubble tea was tooo too sweet. The friend dumpling was fried only in one side it wasn't even crispy it was just burned on the side an still damp and wet. The only thing I thought was decent was the shrimp dumplings an they were just ok, with about a half a piece of shrimp in each dumpling. Will not be ordering from here ever again. Not after they lied, they just didn't see the order come through at the time an made up an excuse. Terrible customer service and on top of it terrible food. It's a no brainer. I had the pancake with beef, assorted dumplings, and wonton soup. I really liked the pancake with beef, it's more like a taco with only beef inside but absolutely delicious. The wonton soup and dumplings were ok. I've had much better dumplings and much worse, but for a spot that is known for dumplings it wasn't as tasty as I expected. I give it 2 stars because the store did not look like avg dumpling store it was nice and clean, which should've already been off to me as most of the good dumpling stores in Chinatown are more like holes in the walls and looks completely run down! I ordered beef dumplings which were mediocre. The beef dumplings I make myself taste better IMO. The hot and sour soup was the most bland I've ever had. There was no spiciness in it at all. It was as if they only dumped some soy sauce in there and viola. Maybe they forgot to add other ingredients?The summer roll says Vietnamese summer roll on the menu but was not like ur avg summer roll either with no peanut sauce but instead was a garlic sauce. Well I've been waiting for a while for this place to open . Both my wife and I love soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) and usually go to manhattan to joes or shanghai cafe so I was an opus to see how kathys competes , first off the place is cold as hell , to the point of being uncomfortable secondly for anything that interested me on the menu takes 30 mins to have prepared , even the sandwich took 30 mins , was the wait worth it ? Not really .... Food was decent and fresh def better than any dumplings bought from chinese take outs in area but does not compare to the spots in Chinatown , this place has potential once they install a heater read more

The dumplings here are very pricey compared to your typical 5 for $1 ones you can get not too far away and all the other items we tried like the scallion pancake and noodles were only ok. It's a good spot to come for dumplings and noodles if you're close by and don't have much time but otherwise, I'd definitely go a bit farther for more bang for your buck. read more

I tried this place last night, and first off, I love the decor! The warm lights add a cozy ambiance. I thought their use of lighting was pretty smart. You go in there, and you feel like you're in an eatery in lower east side (just bigger). The place is romantic, though they could maybe put a painting or watercolor on the bare wall; that would probably make it so much better! The corner location of the store is pretty spacious. There are several bar chairs along the windows, and then a table with chairs for a large group. The staff was nice. We checked in on yelp and when you check in, you get a free small hot milk tea. Only one of us checked in, and we were suppose to just get one milk tea, but the waiter gave my BF and I each our own =) It wasn't bad. Just a little sugar, powdered milk and black tea (nothing fancy). I got the B combo plate, which includes the cabbage salad, a small hot and sour soup, and 4 pan fried pork buns. The BF got a the pork pan fried dumplings (comes in 8). The cabbage salad consisted of shredded cabbage, thin slices of red bell pepper and TONS of cilantro with a light vinaigrette poured on top. I love it; crunchy and light! The hot and sour soup, I didn't like as much. It definitely does get spicy as you eat more, but the flavor just wasn't right, like it needed a little bit more sour and salty to balance out the spicy. My fav. was the pork buns. It's actually even tastier than the dumplings. The filling for both is the same, but bun was more fun to eat b/c of the chewy consistency and had more flavor. It doesn't need the dipping sauce, but you can if that's your preference. The wait wasn't so bad. BF and I were the only ones there, and b/c they prepare it fresh, it was about a 10 minute wait, but no problem since I had my milk tea, and the corner makes for great people watching =) I'm always around little chinatown in bklyn (8th ave and 40s-60 street), so I have access to EXCELLENT dumplings, which cost 75% less compared to katy's dumplings, anytime. However, that being said, I would certainly go back if I'm in the neighborhood and want dumplings. In fact, I'd go back for the decor! The ones on 8th ave are pretty much dirty little holes in the wall, albeit with great food. Sometimes, one just likes to eat in a civilized setting =) read more

So delicious. I used to live in Sunset Park where there were a few dumpling restaurants. They were small and oily, and cost $1 for 4-5 pieces. Kathy's Dumplings definitely put those to shame. Here the dumplings are crispy on the outside, hot and juicy on the inside. You can see the carrots and other greens chopped up and mixed with the pork. They're the best substitute for when my mom doesn't feel like making dumplings. We also had the juicy pork dumplings, which are basically soup dumplings. It would be better if they served these with soup spoons. All they gave us were forks, which made me spill all the juicy goodness onto the plate. That kind of sucked. After that, we ordered the pork buns, which are fried on the outside but a teeny bit soggy on the inside. I wouldn't order these again. We topped it off with some delicious hot almond milk tea. One order of fried pork dumplings, one order of soup dumplings, two teas, and an order of the pork buns cost $21. Definitely not Sunset Park or Chinatown prices but MUCH higher quality. Kathy's Dumplings are delicious and made on the spot, so you have to be patient. Everyone seems to be a fan of the pan fried pork dumplings. However, the steamed dumplings are also worth a try. They are packed with juicy flavor, that is best eaten with a large spoon to make sure you don't leave out the soupy part. If you're a fan of bubble tea, they have several selections. The space is small, but very clean with seating in the middle of the restaurant or at the bar along the windows. They also have delivery and take-out, however, the dumplings taste best when eaten immediately after being made. It's also nice to see the owner, Kathy, either in the back cooking or at the register greeting customers. All the staff is kind and accommodating. You can get a lot of food for your buck! There are no doubt better dumplings downtown and in the city, and I always do takeout so I can't comment on service, but locally this place is pretty great. read more
