We were driving on Highway 26 and hit a ton of traffic and got lucky that we were at Katie's exit. It was a welcome relief from driving to hit a relaxing atmosphere with friendly service and great food. Entering, we noticed it was also a hair salon and flower shop, so three for one if needed. We got a cheeseburger, chicken salad sandwich and a large roast beef & turkey sandwich, which was actually just two sandwiches. The food hit the spot and we missed the traffic so we were all happy campers. Glad we got to experience Katie's sandwich shop. read more

Saturday 11/2/24 went with the wife here to catch son lunch. Excellent pimento cheese hamburger.....fry's we're barely warm and didn't finish those. The Ruben on rye was excellent also and the large order of onion rings was piping hot and freshly made. Great service,....order b4 you sit down. Ice and drink cups are self serving and located on the left as you enter the dining area. Nice seating, decor and quaint decorations for the Fall season. Very friendly and accommodating service. Horrific. After passing exit after exit of nothing but fast food I googled to find a locally owned sandwich shop along the way. The 4.5 grading and reviews seemed promising ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a grilled chicken sub to go. When we unwrapped the sandwiches, we couldn't believe what we saw. My grilled chicken sandwich was on an enormous bun, and the chicken only filled up half of the inside. There was no seasoning on it and it was extremely tough. My husband's sub was just as bad and he had asked for grilled peppers and got nothing. We boxed it up and threw it away immediately wish I would've taken pictures. Do yourself a favor. I called in my food order ahead of time as I am road tripping from Charleston to Asheville. The lady who took my order and cashed me out was absolutely delightful and so helpful. I was hankering for a little sweet treat and to my delight they sold ice cream! I tried the buttered pecan that hit just the perfect spot for me. I also got the BLT supreme on Texas toast and fries. Almost a 4. We were on a road trip and all the fast food places around here are ranked with 1.5 or 2 stars. Katie's is 2 miles from the highway, but it is clean, fresh, and exceptionally friendly. From the outside, it is a very nondescript building. On the inside, the decor is old fashioned and quaint. I got the grilled cheese sandwich - nothing special, but since I don't like burgers or chicken or meat, it's tough to find a good choice for fast food. My husband got the BLT Supreme, and he said it was very good. The side is a bag of chips - they had a large selection of those. The police and the fire fighter were dining here, so this must be the Hot Spot in town! Katie runs a florist shop and hair salon too - busy gal! Yes it is middle of nowhere but totally worth 5 minute detour from highway. If you want to stop for a quick bite this is the place. Don't get discouraged cause it's next to gas station; this is a family friendly place. It is a simple diner setup and super awesome people here with cute little gift store attached to it. I got a Double Bacon Cheeseburger with a small fry and drink and it came out to $17 and change and it was hands down worth every penny. Staff was kind and friendly. Nothing fancy about this place, just damn fine food. Had the reuben and it is definitely among the best reubens I have ever had. This is the first time I have had corn nuggets but decided to try them as an alternative to fries or onion rings, I was not disappointed. read more

Made the first visit to Katie's almost a year ago and have been back a few times. Today was our most recent visit...me, husband, son, sister-in-law and her son-in-law. I've gotten addicted to the chicken quesadilla and had it once again (I really have to try something else!). Husband had the chicken salad sub and thought it was pretty good. Sister-in-law had the mushroom swiss burger and swore it was one of the best she'd ever had. The "boys" both ordered the reuben sandwich and we quite pleased. Katie's is a hidden gem over an hour's drive for us (from 2 different parts of the state) but well worth the trip! read more

Thought maybe we found a gem off the beaten path on our way to Charleston, but not so much. Rueben sandwich is their specialty so I ordered it. Only so-so and not worth 8 bucks. Added fries and that was another 4 bucks and I got like 15 fries. Added a drink for another $2.50. My wife got a BLT and there was hardly any bacon and too much Mayo. That was $5 bucks. All tolled $25 bucks and not even close to worth it. The place was also filthy. Black mold in the refrigerator and dirty disgusting bathrooms. Don't waste your time or money at this dump. read more

This place is definitely a hidden gem. A small, family owned grill and sandwich shop hidden in a flower shop!! I live in the area, but it's just a short drive down the road from exit 125 on I-26.
