2nd time here and good has been consistent. Only one other customer seated, not very busy at all for dinner time on a Thursday night. Service was excellent. Chips and salsa very good, house made salsa. Ordered the special which was taquitos with chicken. I thought they were small compared to other places and overcooked but still decent. The burrito with frites looked good as well. Still disappointing there is no liquor license but overall good food.

El Tecate is doing a soft open right now and they are short staffed so I'm not sure when they'll do a full opening. With that being said, I was greeted promptly and courteously and seated as quickly as possible. The decor and ambiance is very simple and doesn't give you the feel of a Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is somewhat cozy and quaint (small) yet this isn't the reason that I gave them a try. I ordered the burrito and it was slightly better than I expected considering them being short staffed and again doing a soft opening. I will come back in the future once they are fully staffed and hopefully the food will be better.

I saw the on and off reviews before going here, and I went anyway to try for myself! The chips and salsa was phenomenal! My food was very DELICIOUS!! My boyfriend LOVED his food, and I LOVED my food!! This will be my on the go Mexican Restaurant. The food I ordered and my boyfriend never tasted anything better with a Mexican Restaurant. I ordered a steak fajita and it was the best fajita I've ever tried!

The food is always delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. You definitely get great value for your money. What really makes Vera's Kitchen special, though, is the people. It's a family-run restaurant, and you can feel the warmth and care in both the food and the service. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they make you feel right at home every time you walk in. If you're looking for a place with amazing food, big portions, fair prices, and genuinely kind people, Vera's Kitchen is a must-visit. We'll definitely keep coming back!"

Service was good. The biggest downfall was the beverages. The coffee my daughter and I each had tasted like water (we both agreed) we nicely asked waitress to try another pot and she did and it was just as bad. The waitress mentioned that other folks have complained about the coffee. My wife had Ice Tea and she is a connoisseur and she said that too was really tasteless. Basically we spent an extra $10 on drinks that were not good. Waitress didn't offer to comp the drinks even after we mentioned being unhappy with them. With lots of breakfast options in Waxhaw and Indian Land we will be taking our business other places.

It looked the same, but the menu was greatly expanded. Our waiter, Nicolas proved to make the experience a good one, far, far better than nine years ago. Margaritas also served to make it a good experience. They come in flavors and sized small, large and pitcher. We went large ($10) regular flavor. Nice servings and went down well. Given our previous bad experience we went with standard food offerings. Wife had enchiladas verdes ($13.99) which were served with rice and beans. She asked for diced onions to be cooked inside the enchiladas and they did so. I Went for chile verde ($16.99), which is one of my favorites. Pork chunks well simmered and soft in a green gravy. Contract with beef cooked likewise called chile colorado, another favorite. Served with rice and beans and tortillas. I specified flour tortillas but you can opt for corn tortillas. Without having to explain what it was I wanted, Chiles Toreados ($3.99) were actually listed on the menu. I receive my order of three jalapeno peppers that were very well done and sauteed onions surrounding them. This is a wonderful way to spice up your meals, especially the beans and rice that are pretty blah. This dinner make up for the one nine years ago, and we will be back. Looking for Nicholas.

Handful of times I have ordered it to go and it's always hot, fresh, and amazingly FLAVORFUL. A plus to them is that they always have it ready in 20-25 mins. So if you're starving and need something quick, La Unica will have it ready for you. We have dined in, the service is upbeat and quick. When my X and I first moved to Indian Trail, a lot of friends suggested this restaurant as the authority for Tex Mex. It's a good thing they have a big parking lot as they're generally packed, which means people like it. Me? My short reply is it's pretty good. Opening up the doors the atmosphere has a bit of reserved authenticity, no dollar tree prefab gimmicks are there just to plant a flag, claiming to be just like all other options out there. No this is the real deal with a warming atmosphere designed to entice locals to take a load off and relax. The server stand is directly in front and what appears to be a predominately family-owned business. The staff is quick to greet and seat everyone who enters and the place is extremely clean with a low noise level. Lets get to the food, shall we? First of all, I prefer thinner chips as theirs are really thick, but that's not a quality issue. The salsa is darn good and be careful for asking for hot salsa, you'll get what you asked for. Generally I fill up on chips and get something light however I've heard so many good things about La Unica I had to hold back so I could sample some of the former mrs food and gorge on my own. Please note I did drop by twice so I have three dishes I can speak too. First the former Mrs me got the flautas dinner. All the sides; lettuce, tomato, guac, sour cream and rice were fresh and tasty. The tomatoes were ripe and the guac wasn't discolored which means fresh. The flautas were perfectly cooked, crispy with flavorful and moist chicken while not being greasy. Top it with some lettuce and sour cream YUM! My first sample was the Shrimp burrito or I'll call it the Titanic as it was HUGE & IT WENT DOWN! Very tasty with plenty of fat shrimp and all the sides inside. I found it fun to cut into it, pop a bite into my mouth and see which ingredients hit my tastebuds; a revolving experience. Overall, it was very good and not to spicy. For the record, I don't eat beans so I'm not a good judge of what happened there. My final menu item was my best bud, my old faithful, my ride or die - steak fajitas. Again, the sides were awesome no issue there but I found the steak a bit tough. It was seasoned well and tasty but I did some chewing to finish it off. I think it may have been an off day. Other than the MMA fighting steak (implying it's tough) the dish is outstanding. Overall, La Unica is the best Mexican aka Tex Mex restaurant in Indian Trail. The staff is friendly and fast, the chips and salsa are great and for the most part you can always get a seat. Even when busy, the food doesn't seem to suffer. I wish I could have tried more items, alas life has dictated I'm a nomad so I won't be back. But don't let that stop you for hitting up the best south of the border joint in town!
