Wow, I have never had Yemeni food before. I am no stranger to Halal/ Arab food but I've never specifically had Yemeni food and I was not disappointed ! The portions were huge. Everything was delicious. The owner/manager was very friendly and checked on everyone who came through the door whether it was a to go order or a sit down order. This has to be the best surprise when it comes to food in this area. Today we went to try out The Valley Grill in Indian Trail and I must say it did not disappoint one bit. We got the seasonal salmon and rice and couldn't finish because we had such a great helping of pita bread, salad and fixings before the main course. It was perfectly cooked with a tender interior. Our chef introduced us to fresh warm pita bread and a sample of lamb. Oh the lamb, the lamb, the lamb, yes I had to repeat it...amazing!!! We're coming back and we're bringing people next time. If you want different and flavorful food, this is the place to go! New family owned restaurant located right in Sun Valley shopping center. Plenty of parking spaces to choose from and seating inside. We were greeted immediately by our hostess who was very pleasant. Ordered their lamb skewers which came with free chicken or lentil soup, rice and vegetables. The chicken soup was packed with flavor and so was the lamb. Very well marinated and it all blended perfectly well. Husband ordered their lamb plate that came with house salad and he tried their lentil soup. Not a fan of lentil but goodness, that soup was very delicious and flavorful. Great location next to Sun Valley 14 Theaters with plenty of free parking. We were seated quickly and orders taken then they took about 30 minutes to deliver the sandwiches to our table. Hate to eat and run, but, our movie was about to start. My wife ordered the Chicken Shawarma sandwich $7.99, and I ordered the Shish Kabob Lamb sandwich at $8.99. Unfortunately, both meats were tasteless and dry. Very disappointing. Lastly, I don't know why it's named Valley Grill. It's far from a meat-n-three, blue plate kinda place. I ordered the lamb haneeth. The flavor was good, but the portion was shockingly small for $26. At that price point, at least be generous with the rice. The restaurant itself looks like a renovated 1990s pizza shop, not a high-end dining space, so the tiny, presentation-focused portions felt pretentious and out of place. I left still hungry. Honestly, for the price of the food, I was very disappointed. I've had Lebanese food before made by Lebanese people, and this was just disappointing. It wasn't all bad though. Pros The side salad was excellent! It was moist and tasty! The rice was very good! While rice is hard to mess up, plenty of people managed to somehow. They did not! Location: it is perfectly located right in Sun Valley. My wife's grilled chicken was very good and moist. The seating was mostly comfortable. We were there for a good half hour and it didn't hurt my back. Cons The chicken Shawarma was dry, like really dry. I had to douse it in hummus just to eat it. The staff was polite enough, but they also seemed rather bored because two of them were hovering around our table as we looked at the menu. Seriously, they just stood there while we looked at the menus. I had to ask them to give us a minute because it was so awkward. The price: I paid approximately $57 with tip for what should've been about $20 or less. I don't know if I should call this a pro or a con. I guess it just depends on your views on these things. They had a bidet in the men's restroom. If that's your thing, it's a big pro. I will say that the bathroom light was not turned on, and when I turned it on, it took a long time to come up. It was rather creepy, and I kind of felt like something was going to attack me while I was waiting for the lights to come up. Overall, it isn't horrible, and there is a chance I may go back; but at this point, I would probably recommend going to Athenian Grill just down the road. We will see. All the food was flavorful and with great portions. The staff was very friendly as well. We met one of the owners and his father is the chef. The Valley Grille - Indian Trail (Sun Valley Theatre) I believe they've only been open approximately six days! You can't find them on Google yet, but they are on Google Maps. I'm going to post their address for your information. I let them know about the Google issue and they're looking into it, so I haven't been able to post my review there yet. Really nice interior, apologies I didn't get pictures, but clean, wait staff is very polite, professional, responsive. I'm assuming the gentleman I spoke with is either the owner or the manager, he went around to everyone to make sure their experience was on par. They were not set up for gift cards? So he actually sat down with me and we came up with a solution lol! They stapled my $25 receipt to a menu, the gentleman signed it with his name approving it as a gift card. Did I say how accommodating and wonderful the staff was? Now for the food? Very fresh, amazing flavors, they bring out pita bread with two dipping sauces. One more of a paste. I believe one might be eggplant so maybe baba Ghanouj? It was sooo flavorful! The other was Foul Mudammas - I think of it as a creamy garlic, whipped, paste. Oh wow!! They gave me extra to take home at no charge. I actually put a little bit of both on a piece of pita and ate it, it was heaven in my opinion. I ate the Foul Mudammas with EVERYTHING! Dipped my Mixed Grill in it they were wonderful about bringing extra when they saw I had used it up! Another favorite? Was the lemon chicken soup, I got it as a side? Very flavorful, great comfort food. I highly recommend it. In fact, a woman walked in just to get a menu? She saw all the food on my table and came over to ask me how it was - when I recommended the soup? She went and ordered some - the owner gave it to her for free because he heard her speaking with me about the quality of the food! Have I said what wonderful people they are? It's a small cup, but I'm sure people can order more. Even if you pay extra? I promise you, it definitely is worth it! I'm not going to lie when I say I would go back just for the lemon chicken soup! Or the apps! I ordered the Tabbouli salad - again? Was amazed at how beautifully they seasoned it. LOVE lemon and it had the perfect amount in it, really enjoyed it, so fresh and very healthy! Lastly, I ordered the mixed grill. It had steak, chicken, in addition to beef kafto and chicken tawook. Truly enjoyed it. Please note: they ask you if you want it with rice or french fries. I asked for french fries extra crispy -- thinking in my mind? They would serve them on the side. They do not. They serve the mixed grill OVER the rice/french fries on the same plate. If I had known, would've went for the rice. However, their french fries were not bad by any means. I just tend to choose to have my ingredients separate. But that is a personal preference. All in all? Really great portions, quality food, quality staff. Absolutely I am going back! It's not cheap when you get an entrée, but I definitely want to try the shrimp and some of the other dishes! Highly recommend a visit, even though they've been open a week? Quality product, quality staff - I didn't have any hiccups at all! Really great Mediterranean food and a wonderful addition to Indian Trail/Union County. The Hubs saw a review so we had to check this place out and it did NOT disappoint! You walk in to a simple no frills diner setting and are quickly greeted by a host or the owner. We were quickly seated and the food experience starts. You start out with complementary soup, we miss heard the selection and ended up with 3, lentil, lamb, and chicken. Owner stopped by and when we asked for guidance on best offering, really upped our experience. Add a squeeze of lemon to the lamb soup, YUM! Try the lamb, out comes a sample of deliciousness! Here try this sample of veg, double yum. I'll post the before we order pics and you'll wonder how we weren't full. We ended with wanting to sample EVERYTHING so we went the Eden plate. It's a bit of everything and says serves 3-4. We tried our best to eat more, but we had a ton to bring home. Plates are prepared to order so the pregame soup experience is beneficial. Think stretches before the workout. And, it gives time to the kitchen. When we came in the rush followed right behind us so a small delay on food but not enough of one that you noticed. The chef brought out the food and it was worth the wait. Grape leaves, veg, falafel, kabobs, shawarma and more. Yum, yum, and yes, extremely stuffed but happy! Long route to say, TRY this place out. Beware. Both times we had the whole grilled chicken we realized they had removed the breast. There was barely any meat on the chicken just the tenderloins and the dark meat, that was it! They sell it and charge it as a whole chicken but it will not satisfy you. The first time we had it, it was cooked well. The food was amazing! We are originally from Detroit and this food was some of the best we've had! We had chicken lemon rice soup, lentil soup. Fattoush salad with chicken and a shishtawook sandwich. We have been searching for another good Mediterranean restaurant after moving. The valley grill has suprised us in a great way. Their mixed Shawarma was excellent. The chicken was really well charred and still juicy. The beef had great flavor, just a bit over cooked. The rice and veggies were excellent. They gave complementary soup which is always nice. The hummus was a bit heavy on the tahini for my taste but my wife enjoyed it. The pita is store bought. Price was good for two people. Definitely my second favorite Mediterranean place I've found around Charlotte. read more

I finally made it there, and it was fantastic! I walked in the door and multiple people (including the owner) welcoming me. My husband was already seated with a friend. I had the lentil soup, husband had the chicken soup. So flavorful, I could smell the spice when they brought the cup! My husband had the meat shawarma, I had the shish kebab plate with grilled veggies on the side. Look at this plate of veggies. For an extra buck! What a bargain. The rice was fluffy and full of flavors. To wrap it all up we were treated with a hot tea (owners mom's recipe) and some baklava. Not only was the meal delicious, for 3 people we paid $60. I was there with two friends during the "soft opening" in January. We sat for over an hour waiting for our food after the waiter took our order. Later we were told that our order was never given to the cooks... needless to say very disappointing. We were all given our meals without cost and spoke with the manager.
