Tried the Prime Brisket Dip Sando (which was a special) and Cheesy Potato Korokke. The curry sauce with the brisket was delicious. It was so filling. I could only eat half of the sandwich. The Cheesy Potato Korokkes are an order of 2 potato cakes. They were full of garlic but weren't as cheesy as I had seen on their IG page. I also didn't like them with the Katsu sauce. I shared one cake with friends and didn't end up finishing the other. This truck is well worth giving a try and experiencing their take on Japanese sandwiches. We finally managed to drive out to Hopfly Brewery, where we found this unique food truck! Well, my husband and I both love Katsu, so we got 3 varieties to share...the OG, Karai and the Kakiage "Sandos"...with an order of Fries. First of all, these sandwiches were huge...and for the amount of food you get, it was priced reasonably. Although I found the Karai a touch TOO spicy, I thought it was pretty good. Really, all the sandos tasted good...but just a bit shy of great. We couldn't really put a finger on it. We might have expected a better batter of Katsu maybe? Also, the milk bread wasn't as thick as expected...rather, they were long and thin! Lastly, and possibly the worst part, was the presentation. I know these are just sandwiches, but they looked rather crude...very slapstick. It wasn't a busy night...so I thought they could have put a little more effort into making these "sandos" a bit more presentable? Surpringly, I was more impressed with their tasty Fries than the sloppy sandwiches. Unfortunately, I've seen some greater, prettier versions of these Katsu sandwiches (nicely cut and neatly stuffed into softer, fluffier milk breads!), so these super-sloppy food truck versions were rather disappointing. Still, am glad to know that Charlotte has a place that serves Katsu sandwiches...so YAY for that.

The chicken katsu sandwiches are very good. The crispiness on the chicken and the soft bread are a winning combination. My only critique is they come with more mayo than I would like. Wish there was a way to ask for less on the online ordering.

I have been stalking this food truck for 2 months. For some reason I didn't realized it's only 5mins from my job in Southend. And that their permanent location is outside of Hopfly Brewery. Came by to order two Sandos to take home. The OG Sando 4/5: which is a battered chicken patty fried and placed on their milk bread. Paired with cabbage and sauces had up to the long drive home. The fried battered chicken still have that crunch yet not dry at all. The Tonkatsu 4/5: a thick pork chop prepared the same way as the chicken katsu.. Just as good. Nice crunch and held up to the long drive home. I will ask for more cabbage next time.. and maybe more sauce on the side.

Deeeeeelish! I've been wanting to try for awhile. Husband and I were going to a comedy show and weren't in the mood for places in the area so we decided to go to Hopfly for Katsu. So glad we did! We both got the OG and fries. Note - if there's two of you, you don't need two fries. they are so good though - the seasoning is fab. We almost got sandwiches and the loaded fries and I'm glad we didn't because the two sandwiches and one fry were absolutely enough. Was so sad to throw away the extras we couldn't eat. The sandwich is done so well. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the flavors were great. I love the crunch of cabbage in there. Would absolutely get this again. I almost went to get a honeybear bake shop cookie for dessert before we left but was so full I just couldn't do it. Semi-pricey, but I wasn't at all disappointed with what I got so it was absolutely worth it.

Really good food truck! I had some of the Katsu fries. It came with a lot so I was able to split it with a few people! The chicken was super crunchy and the fries stayed nice and crispy underneath! Really good spicy sauce on top too.

I first saw this food truck from people posting on Instagram about it. The sandwiches looked great so we tracked them down for dinner last night. We got the OG Katsu and the Karai Katsu. I preferred the OG Katsu since I loved the flavors. The chicken was good on the Karai Katsu, but I was hoping for more flavor in addition to spice. The texture of the chicken was definitely different than anything I've had before. I'm not sure if it's the way they cook it, but the chicken breast on the OG Katsu was definitely more moist than any other chicken sandwich I've had with a chicken breast. I'd definitely be interested in trying the Tonkatsu next time!

Katsu Sando, I can't believe that they have Katsu Sando in Charlotte, this is only a food truck. I wish they can open a location, so that I go there without going to a brewery since I don't drink. But the food was excellent. The Katsu Sando tasted so good, it is still crispy after about 20 minutes drive. Both of the rice bowl tasted great. The only thing is that the Katsu Curry bowl doesn't have enough curry, I am used to getting enough curry to have it with every bite of my rice. Wish this place much success and will be back for the sandwiches for sure.

I finally was able to try this place! I found it at the Matthews farmers market. I was surprised to find that they had a few options for breakfast. I opted for a $5 chicken biscuit because I knew I wanted to try the OG. The biscuit was small but great to hold me over. It was coated in a slightly spicy honey. The sandwich was the best part by far. The bread had a great texture and the sauce was killer. I def recommend. For a food truck with quick service, the wait time was only 5 minutes. They weren't super busy- it was only 10am. It was also right beside a coffee truck so I had no problem waiting and getting something warm to drink. I am looking forward to trying some other sandwiches!

Pictured: OG Katsu Sando (9/10) Veggie Katsu (8/10) Katsu Fries(8.5/10) Likes: The OG Sando is so good. The chicken is super crunchy and a great balance with the super soft milk bread! The Katsu fries are a very generous portion and a lot of great flavors coming together. Dislikes: I think a little more cabbage on the fries would've been good and the sauce made some of the fries soggy. Overall Rating: 4.2

Katsu Kart's Instagram game is strong, and after seeing pictures of their beautiful sandwiches, I had to try them out for myself. As of recently, they've been consistently parked at HopFly Brewing and you can usually find their schedule on their Instagram. Their food truck is unmistakable - bright blue and Mario Kart themed! They have several different katsus with different proteins: chicken, pork, beef, and veggies. I opted for the Karai Katsu, which is chicken breast with cabbage, mala spice, and spicy mayo. They're not kidding with the mala spice here! If you're a fan of the numbing peppercorn spice that you get in Szechuan food, this is the sandwich for you. The heat level was perfect for me, but the numbing was honestly a bit too much (but I'm not a fan of the numbing in the first place). After you get past the spice, the chicken was super juicy, tender, and breaded beautifully. I loved the soft and fluffy milk bread, and the cabbage slaw added a great crunchy texture to the overall sandwich. I also got to try the Katsu Fries, which were topped with Togarashi (Japanese chili flakes) and salt. Honestly the fries didn't make much of an impact - they just tasted like normal fries. I couldn't really taste the Togarashi on them and wished they had more flavor (maybe like Furikake fries!) With prices around $10-$13 ($15 for the beef katsu), prices are average for a satisfying meal. Next time I'm definitely going to try the OG Katsu, and maybe with some sriracha or spicy mayo on the side to still give it that kick of heat, but without the numbness.

I wanted to love this place because we frequent the brewery they're located at every soccer game. I've had the potato cakes in the past & they were fine. We tried the OG Katsu sandwich & potato salad this time. It was SO BAD. While the chicken was crispy, there was zero salt on the chicken. Extremely bland. The Katsu sauce soaked into the bread & didn't offer much flavor either. The potato salad was disgusting if I'm being honest. It tasted like & had the consistency of straight plain mayo. I spit it out and trashed it immediately. I hope they will make adjustments because we often need dinner before games.

I wanted to love this place. The instagram posts lured me in. Ordering online with no interaction at the window was kinda nice honestly. The food though, not worth it. Two sandwiches, an order of fries, and tip was $43 dollars. The chicken tasted like home made shake and bake, With a sad small chicken breast. Absolutely zero flavor. The breading reminded me of shake and bake, lacking seating I would expect. The chicken bacon ranch was similar with one sad piece of bacon for $16. Fries were bland and barely had any seasoning, lacking crispness. The "milk bread" tasted like toasted wonder bread with the cole slaw packs you get at the grocery store. If I end up at hop fly again, I'll likely skip ordering here again.

It's right on the way to my yoga studio, so it's perfect for a quick in-and-out lunch, but honestly, it's also the kind of place where you end up lingering longer than planned. My usual order is the ABLT on rye with Boar's Head applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Simple, fresh, and consistently delicious every single time. I almost always pair it with the Spinach Bacon salad loaded with spinach, cranberries, goat cheese, tomatoes, toasted pecans, and brown sugar peppered bacon. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. What makes Rhino special is that it's more than just a deli. It's part neighborhood market, part coffee shop, part beer and wine stop, and part community hangout. They've got local products, grab-and-go snacks, fresh sandwiches, beer on tap, wine, outdoor patio seating, and sometimes even live music. It reminds me of the small independent spots I used to love in the Bay Area around Burlingame, San Mateo, and Palo Alto. Relaxed, local, welcoming, and full of personality. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere feels genuinely Charlotte. Not overly polished. Not trying too hard. Just good food, good people, and a place that locals clearly love. And if you are visiting North Carolina, you absolutely have to try Cheerwine at least once. It's basically a Carolina rite of passage. Cherry soda lovers will probably be obsessed. Me personally? Not exactly my flavor profile, but people here drink it like water, so clearly they are onto something. Rhino Market is one of those places that makes a city feel like home. Life is too short to not eat well, Charlotte. Get out there.

You order at one window, grab an extra items, pay, then they'll call your name/number. Super easy. I ordered the Rhino Club described on the menu as: Boar's Head Branded Deluxe Ham, Lower Sodium Turkey, Applewood Smoked Bacon, provolone, bibb lettuce, tomato, dijon vin on choice of bread. The ordering and payment process was easy. I was solo so I took a seat at the bar area to eat. Sandwich looked good when I unwrapped it, large slices of toasted bread with fresh lettuce and tomato. The strangest thing was, on the left side of the sandwich were several slices of deli turkey rolled up. On the right side of the sandwich were several slices of deli ham rolled up. I hadn't seen a sandwich made like that before. It felt like half of a turkey sandwich and half of a ham sandwich as opposed to a ham and turkey sandwich. Was it bad? Definitely not. I waffled between a 3 and a 4 star for this one but felt generous because, overall, I liked the vibe of the place.

Their patio is so fun, the street you overlook is pretty chill so there weren't a lot of cars or noise. The area has good enough traffic for decent people watching, that's always fun. Our server was so funny and cool. I wish I could remember his name, but he was having a good convo with the person I was with about basketball and it was just really nice. It felt like I was home on my couch hanging with friends. It's such a cool chill place. I loved the pizza, olives app and the old fashioned. Review for Pizza Baby…read more After a relaxing Vinyasa yoga class and sound bath at The Coterie Wellness one evening, I found myself hungry--and conveniently, Pizza Baby had just opened in the same complex. Perfect timing. Since it was still new, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and I decided to grab a table outside. The outdoor seating was lovely--relaxed, comfortable, and a great way to unwind after a wellness session. I'm a sucker for thin-crust pizza, especially when it's hand-tossed and thoughtfully prepared, so one item immediately caught my eye: the rosemary pizza with hot honey. Sold. I added Italian sausage to the pizza and paired it with a fresh green salad (I can never resist a good Green Goddess dressing). Yes, it was a little on the pricey side, but the quality matched the cost--and I was genuinely pleased with my choices. The crust was thin and flavorful, the toppings were balanced, and the hot honey added just the right touch of sweetness and heat. This is definitely a place I'd return to--next time with friends--so we can share a few different pizzas and appetizers and really explore the menu. A few practical notes: * Parking is generally easy since the restaurant shares a lot with neighboring businesses in the complex * There are several nearby spots, including a wine bar and entertainment venues, which make the area feel lively * There was some early parking congestion when a nearby church held services, but the situation has since been addressed with signage and coordinated parking solutions It's nice to see businesses and community partners working together to make things run smoothly. There's also another location of Pizza Baby that I plan to visit, which speaks to how positive my first experience was. Bottom line: Great thin-crust pizza, pleasant outdoor seating, and a convenient stop after yoga or an evening out. A solid addition to Charlotte's growing food scene--and absolutely worth checking out. And if you're already in the area for a class or wellness session, it makes for the perfect post-workout reward.
