Bahn Mi is my favorite sandwich. So when I do a review of one, I hold it to a pretty high standard. When I walked into Crispy Bahn Mi I knew it was going to be great. It looked family owned/run, there were fresh Vietnamese baguettes piled high and a simple menu full of traditional delicious sandwiches and sides. I ordered the B4 Grilled Pork and side of regular french fries. The order came out quickly and I couldn't wait to take a bite. After trying both a french fry and the bahn mi I can say that they both live up to the "crispy" name. The bahn mi bread tasted fresh and crispy. The grilled pork was juicy and tender, full of flavor. The marinade was sweet, savory, sour and had a little kick in each bite. The pickled veggies were a great compliment to the pork and always one of my favorite parts of the sandwich. Seriously, this place kinda reminds me of home. You can never go wrong with any items on the menu. I always pick some sort of banh mi. Always delicious. Finally had a chance to try them out the other day and was really impressed with the overall quality of my meal. I ordered the pork bánh mì and the chicken bánh mì sandwich. in addition to the chicken wings and the fried quail wings. I also order two of their specialty Boba drinks, including the strawberry Matcha green tea, The sandwiches were spot on, and the bread was authentic, which I know is a big deal for bánh mì fans. Everything is made fresh in house, from what appears to be an entire family run operation. Definitely a plus for me as I love to support local businesses, especially family, run operations. They seem to be a popular lunch place for people in the area as I was joined by two or three other groups of four picking up orders to head back to the office. It's hard to find quality food for this price range. I went with the following... #1 Crispy Sandwich: This is the special banh mi, basically the traditional sandwich that you are used to. Overall a very solid banh mi place. As you can see from my pictures, the sandwich is very long but skinny. Vietnamese coffee is more sweet than strong. I do appreciate the large menu here and the fact that they offer different Vietnamese dishes outside of only banh mi. We got the classic (various deli cuts and pate) and the grilled chicken. The grilled pork banh mi was good. The pork was a tad bit on the sweeter side than I preferred. It was nice the jalapeno seeds were scraped off from the jalapeno slices, so still gave some spiciness without being super spicy. People who like super spicy might not like that. My partner tried the barbecue pork and meatball. According to him, the Barbecue pork was too fatty. The meatball tasted better but not that great. The meatball was a cold processed meat with a weird flavor. One banh mi was filling for me, whereas 1.5 banh mis were satisfying for my partner. The Vietnamese iced coffee was okay. The boba was way too undercooked. They really need to taste test the boba after cooking it. My partner didn't really enjoy the Lychee Tea, too artificial tasting. I like roasted pork much better if it's done right and it just so happens that these guys do it similarly my fave Banh Mi in Texas just outside Houston named Spring Roll Express of all things. So the sandwich here is incredible. It's funny because I asked her to make it extra spicy and put jalapenos on it and she told me to put Sriracha on it. Turns out that it comes with jalapenos. There I was planning on how when I bring Barbie back here that we're going to bring a jalapeno with us in chop it up and put it on the sandwich, but yeah it comes with it and everything works perfectly on this wonderful sandwich. One of the very best I've had anywhere. When I brought Barbie here, she loved it too. Although we didn't love some of the looks, laughter, and remarks from some of the boys working on the food. Then there is the milk tea. Do not get me started on the milk tea. I asked for Vietnamese coffee or milk tea, already knowing the answer which was that Vietnamese coffee is always better at Vietnamese places. She's like, I like our milk tea better. I was a bit thrown by this and almost went against her recommendation because I know from experience that Vietnamese milk teas are usually meh tasting and powdered or pre-made or something and that Vietnamese coffee is often perfect, although often not. But she was quite convincing and she knows her own products and she recommended the milk tea, and I'm in love with good milk teas, so I gave it a try and they've really made a great effort with this milk tea! They basically make a milk tea like a Vietnamese iced coffee. I'm so impressed! I think it has condensed milk in it much like a Vietnamese iced coffee. So yeah, they know exactly what they're doing and they've done it very well. I could not be any more impressed with their products and when I brought the beautiful pornstar here, which was very exciting, she loved it too, though not as much as I hoped... but just taking her places is very exciting. But have you seen her? Wouldn't you be? Oh and to the boys behind the grill who were giggling and snickering while I was doing my Boba posing, keep on giggling.
