On the Door Dash app, they don't allow any modifications to most items, but we were able to call the restaurant directly and let them know what our modifications once the order was placed. That was awesome. The Kamikaze filet Kim chi fries were a little soggy, but the flavor was good. We are used to the beef being in strips or cuts of some sort, but this meat was ground, kinda strange, but still flavorful. For the combination plate, I chose shrimp and chicken with fried rice and mixed vegetables, hibachi style. Everything had great taste, and the portion was plentiful. Customers order over menu on an iPad, it's a new trend for new food places now. With a few categories of food and drinks. I chose a base recipe of rice with beef cost around $13, every add-on is a few dollar. All drinks range from close to $5 to start with. A bowl of beef rice with no addition cost $14 and a drink came up to almost $20. It's like a combination of Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese poke and even fried wings. It's a place for younger generations. I've been here plenty of times and every single time. It's AMAZING! Theory Pho's are always very tasty, flavorful, delicious, and very filling. They do give you a very big portion, and I always can barely get through half of it. Definitely a bowl to share between two people I love their Kimchi fries. Fries have just the right amount of crisp, and they do not get soggy even with the kimchi, meat, and sauces that get poured on top. Their Vietnamese coffee is my go-to. Even if I dont buy any food, when I'm in the area, I will at least go in and get me a Vietnamese coffee. They have plenty of seating inside. They used to have normal cashiers working, but now they turned it into self check out. You go in, select your order from an iPad, and pay. If you have cash, you do ring a bell, and someone will come out,take your order, and then take your cash and come back with any change. I was pleasantly surprised to see they offer Afternoon Tea now! This location seems to do quite a bit of takeout, but the inside is inviting with tables, booths, and other lounge type seating. The crispy crab wontons were a miss for me, but the pho was delicious as was the Korean corn dog. You order on kiosks and the food is brought to your table. The ordering system Is pretty comprehensive, but could use a little more description. They are my go-to spot for Pho takeout or delivery when visiting Charlotte as they're one of the few places that offers a vegan pho broth AND the option for shrimp. I easily got three meals out of one order of soup. Their vegetable spring rolls are perfectly crisp and seasoned as well and the shumai were also pretty tasty. For starters, I ordered through Doordash which may or may not impact food quality and the first time experience. The delivery was pretty quick, so the food arrived at an appropriate temperature based on realistic expectations. We ordered a hibachi combination plate (noodles, shrimp, steak, all veggies, hibachi sauce), a steak hibachi plate (steak, fried rice, hibachi sauce and all veggies), 2 four piece orders of pan fried chicken dumplings, and both meals came with salads with ranch. Onion soup was offered for the combination plate, but we opted out. Cons: we only received one sauce for the dumplings and one hibachi sauce; food was slightly on the salty side, hibachi sauce was very sweet compared to other hibachi (yum yum) sauces. I'd also add way more onion, or an option for extra onion. Dumplings were over cooked. Pros: both came with a side of sweet carrots-though overcooked, a good amount of zucchini, ok portion sizes This is a highly suggested place for Asian cuisine. I'll have to try it on location to be convinced it's an above average restaurant. With this experience, I wouldn't fall over myself to get there again. read more

I like that they have vegan options (eg seitan chicken & vegan shrimp sauce), but their portions are FAR too small for the price. 6 pieces of tofu for $4, no thanks. I can buy 2 packs of tofu for that! I ordered the vegan "create your own plate" with a side of tofu and vegan shrimp sauce and a salad. The plate was $11 with an additional dollar for seitan chicken. I asked for extra veggies in place of rice and what I received was not worth $11, but it was good. First and foremost, this is a SELF SERVICE restaurant. You walk in and they have a couple of kiosks where all orders are placed by the customer. The ordering process is laborious and not intuitive. It is hard to make changes and substitutions. I wanted to add extra but saw no option. I wanted to add extra sauce and saw no option. The food was very average as well. The fried wontons were actually quite tasty. My guess is that they are frozen, though. I ordered a chicken hibachi and it wasn't very good. The carrots were obviously canned. The chicken was overcooked. The rice was dry. Just not very good. Those two dishes were $20 so it ain't cheap either, especially since I am doing all of the work. read more

Hate to do this, but must admit that I had a disappointing experience here yesterday. Especially so because the cashier/rep was so nice, and I anticipated writing them a glowing review! I tried the Korean BBQ Beef Bowl...and sadly, it was mostly white rice, and just a very thin layer of Beef and Kimchi, both of which didn't taste authentic at all. I remember trying this once before, and thinking that they skimped on the Beef, but still thought both the Beef and Kimchi tasted good back then. This time, not so much. I'm truly hoping they rethink the Beef and Kimchi portion on that Korean bowl...just WAY too much rice, not enough of the meats and veggies! Also, the egg was undercooked and too runny this time around. I also tried their Koji Koraage Chicken...and again, not authentic. Still, I ended up eating this more than the Beef. I'm glad I chose to order a second bowl of meats. I did this anticipating a lack of meats in the Korean bowl...and I was right. Am just going to chalk up the reduced flavor (and quantity of Beef and Kimchi) of the foods due to the pandemic. On my last visit, I tried this fancy Shrimp dish, and it was Amazing! I wish I stuck with that. I do love the eclectic menu of Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese foods here, and though not all fully authentic (as is usually the case with fusion restaurants), I've always found them to be tasty. I'm truly thinking today's experience had to be attributed to possibly a cutback in staff, a change in the Chef, or something of that sort. Still, when I asked for more Kimchi, I was quickly given a generous dose. As always, the service here was stellar. So was their Covid safety practices, the general cleanliness, and the great, casual ambiance! BTW, I also tried their Green Milk Tea...and though I forgot to add the Boba, the drink tasted great. Be Em is an Asian fusion restaurant in Matthews serving a mix between Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean. A few of my favorite Asian cuisines. On our visit we ordered a lot of menu items to try. We ordered so much we had plenty to take home. We ordered the Crispy Wonton Bites, the Koji Karaage Chicken, the Be Em Famous Wings in Thai Sweet Chili, Be Em's Dac Biet Pho, Pho Tai Bo Vien, Gio Chao Quay (Breadsticks), a Korean BBQ Beef Rice Bowl and Lychee Love and Passion Fruit Blossom Fruit Teas. My favorite items we ordered were the Phos and the chicken wings. The pho broth was tasty and full of flavor. It was pipping hot and melted the Gio Chao Quay. I had never had the Gio Chao Quay (breadsticks) before and I hogged them all. I would recommend ordering a bunch of things like we did and give them a try. Their menu is so diverse you are bound to kind a dish you love. We were there close to closing time also and the staff was so sweet and understanding. Not really a review on service there was little interaction with the workers other than ordering the food and them bringing it out. The one taking our order was nice. Nothing above and beyond, but nice. The food didn't take long either, so that's a plus. Tables were blocked off for social distancing as well. They also have a few tables outside as well. I really wanted to order more because I love doing tapas style, but being my boyfriend is picky (he says he's not but he is) I just got a couple items. The Pho was really good. I've had Pho in every state I've visited and being from Cali, good Pho is hard to come by. Now this Pho isn't in my top 5 but it's definitely delicious. The oxtails were cooked perfectly. So tender. We were looking for a place that we could actually eat at in person that served poke or sushi. We went to Be-Em. Walking the ambiance is clean and decorated really neat. My husband ordered pho and I got the king salmon bowl. The pho was incredible! The flavors blended together well. The poke bowl was just ok. The flavors were good and the fish was fresh, but I would try a different one next time! It felt like it was missing something. I did get half lettuce half rice too, it usually comes with an all white rice base. I like that they have a rewards program that you can easily sign up for when you check out.
