Damn gooood! My girl, a friend and I went here from the airport and we were starving. We just yelped this place and first one that popped off when you search soups lol. Delicious and quick! We had a 15 minute wait and it went by quick. We had the gyoza to start which were crispy and yummy! We had miso soup and my husband ordered the chicken katsu. We tried a few of the onigiri - the shrimp one, BBQ, salmon and garlic butter and I had the #9 - don't remember the name. Each one had a unique flavor, a good umami flavor. I wish there was more shrimp in the shrimp one. They were difficult and messy to eat, but definitely worth it. The service was great and so quick! We recently had a great dinner at Katsu Ramen which is in this busy little Korean strip mall. Parking was a bit challenging since it was packed on a Saturday night around 8:30 but we got seated right away. We ordered chicken karaage, black garlic tonkotsu ramen, tonkotsu shoyu, and pork katsu don and everything was good! The katsudon was huge- definitely a generous portion. Between the shoyu tonkotsu and black garlic ramen, I definitely liked the black garlic better because it had way more flavor. The place has a nice, charming Japanese vibe, and the service was efficient. After dinner, we checked out Snowl next door which was packed at the time for some sweet dessert and it did not disappoint. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend trying both spots. read more

Our party of four went to Katsu Ramen for lunch this week. We ordered two miso ramen, two Katsu Don (over rice with egg and onion), and pork gyoza on the side. The miso ramen was the highlight -- flavorful and genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the Katsu Don was a major letdown. It looked nothing like the menu photo and had almost no flavor. The rice was pasty, topped with beaten egg, and the pork cutlet breading was completely soggy instead of crispy. It tasted like everything had been cooked together, which ruins the texture. The cutlet should have been fried separately and placed on top of the dish after cooking to keep it crisp. If I were redesigning the dish, I'd suggest making it more like a stir-fry with snow peas, mushrooms, carrots, onions, cabbage, and oyster sauce. Deep-fry the cutlets to a golden brown, slice them about an inch thick, place them on top, drizzle with sauce, and serve the rice on the side -- no egg-and-rice mush. I had this recipe in Seattle, and it was remarkable. The gyoza was also disappointing. It wasn't crispy at all, soggy and fell apart when we attempted to dip it in the sauce whether using chopsticks or a fork. It looked it it was cooked on one side on the flat top versus put in a deep frier or a pan with oil in it. It was definitely undercooked. On a positive note, the service was very good -- friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, great ramen and service, but the Katsu Don and gyoza need serious improvement. read more

The servers are always friendly and the restaurant is clean. My favorite is the lunch special. This time I ordered the curry Ramen with the beef bowl and Gyoza. I can never finish it all so I always pack up the rice bowl to go. The curry is creamy and rich and has a very savory flavor. I enjoyed the corn that garnishes it at the top. I've lived in Denver for almost 2 years now and today was my first time trying katsu curry in the area. I've heard great things about Katsu ramen and was in aurora with my friend, so we both decided to give it a try. We figured we had to get one Katsu and one ramen to try their namesakes. The pork Katsu curry came out super quick after we ordered, which was impressive at first but became less impressive when the first bite of Katsu lacked any crunch from the breading and was lukewarm. The curry texture was a bit gritty and quite sweet. The tonkotsu ramen came out a few minutes later. The noodle texture was probably the best part about it, but the broth was also oddly sweet. While visiting my friend in Aurora she wanted to take me to one of her favorite local restaurants which is how I found myself at Katsu Ramen one Sunday evening. We were seated with no problem when we walked in but it was a packed house inside while we were there. You order by making your selections on a paper menu and then when you need service or any additional items you use the buttons at the table and someone is there to help you in like 10 seconds. I wasn't super hungry so I went with the BBQ Beef onigri rice balls and an order of the Japanese style fried chicken. My friend went with one of the ramen bowls (not sure which one) but it was delicious! Based on the other bowls I saw coming out I don't think you could go wrong with any choice. We started with the karaage onigiri and the salmon soy butter onigiri, they were delicious but the star of the show was the ramen. I got the black garlic ramen and my sister got the miso ramen with chicken instead of pork. They say the broth simmers for 15 hours and you can taste every bit of effort. I loved the richness and density of the soup, the texture of long and thin ramen noodles and how it came with a pat of chili paste on the side of the bowl to spice it up. Despite the large portions, we both pushed past the fullness to eat every last bite. The gyoza were a bit greasy. Our kids love gyoza and for some reason they didn't really touch the ones from here. Salmon with Garlic Soy Butter onigiri - so-so, falling apart as was eating it- but very good I came during happy hour so we got two Kirin at BOGO.
