Time well spent... For my birthday I was treated to a facial, but I'd like to consider it more of an experience. I appreciate when I walked into this establishment, it was as if time slowed down and I didn't feel rushed, for a first timer I would be very comfortable. Initial impressions as I made my way into the waiting room, was that it's intimate and tranquil. The lights are set just right, and there was soothing music in the background with a well placed sound of water flowing...it all worked together in perfect harmony. I was immediately greeted, and escorted to the back where there were several rooms for different types of treatments. The room designated for me was fairly small, but following the themes of a quiet intimate setting with great lighting. I had the pleasure of working with Kim, the owner. She made me feel very comfortable. Her knowledge of skin care treatments, and best practice for keeping my skin clean and clear was very impressive. I went with the "Men's Sport Facial", which I briefly read over and decided it was right for me. Ingrown hairs and beard wash, along with a quality exfoliation were my biggest concerns. The sports facial ended up being everything I needed, and some. The cost at the time of this review was $80.00, and for what Kim did and how it made my skin feel...it's well worth it. Finding the location won't be too hard, they are right behind the only Costco in Charlotte. But the actual spa is along a connected sector of similar looking buildings, try and get there 15min before the appointment time. The parking lot is massive, and it's completely free. Pro Tip: Do everything online. This makes the entire process seamless, you'll be able to go right in at the time of your appointment and get started. Kim did my facial and it was amazing. She was professional and caring as well. The business was beautifully decorated. The room that that my facial was done in was comfortable, peaceful, and relaxing. Soft music was playing, smelled great, and was dimly lit. When the facial was complete, Kim also threw in for no charge a few minutes of the red light procedure which I had inquired about. That was very nice of her and I enjoyed it. Top tier!!! I booked a Beauty from Within( Girlfriends) for a mother daughter day. The service includes Yoni steam, facials, and massages and fruit tray with Mimosa or Moscato. The staff was Covid protected so you will feel at ease. The facials were done by Khalia & I must say I was having some dry areas but she buff those out because my face has been glowing since. Then we snacked on the fruit tray & yoni steamed for about 35 mins. The massages were done by Kim she knew how to get in there and work out any kinks that were stuck. The owner, Kim, went over your information thoroughly and explained her plan significant to you and your skin. She was extremely knowledgeable about products and procedures to best suite your individual needs. That made me feel extremely comfortable . Once we got over the logistics , she lets you relax and she'll check in every so often to make sure you're fine . I feel like I struggled with staying awake. I was looking for a new waxing studio closer to my home and came across Katura Day Spa on Yelp. After reading their reviews, I decided to book myself an appointment, which can be done directly from their website. Right now, they have a Mix n' Match special of 2 services for $85 so that's what I went for. You can pick between a Brazilian wax, a vaginal steam, an ion foot detox or an express facial. My appointment was with Nika, who is super sweet and very personable. I was there for about 2 hours. We started with the Brazilian wax. She uses hard and soft wax, which is what I am used to. She definitely knows what she is doing and was done within 15 minutes. Next was the facial. This was my first facial so I wasn't too sure what to expect. She walked me through all the products she was using on my face and recommended some products for me to try at home as well. It was very relaxing and my face still feels amazing (even though it's been almost a week since I was there). Overall, my experience was wonderful and I will definitely be returning! read more

Short version: If you want a facial that is straightforward & gets the job done without the stuffiness of a place that nickel and dimes you for all of their supposed "included amenities"...This is your place! Best kept secret in the area. Long version: I visited Katura for a facial to address my skin's transition into the drier weather as well as the blackheads on my nose and chin. When you pull into the shopping center, it doesn't seem all that special. Once you open the door and step inside, you are in another world! They have completely transformed that space to feel so comfortable and serene. After filling out the paperwork, I was taken to the room where and instructed on how to lay down for the facial. Once I got comfortable, Kim, the owner and esthetician that worked on me, analyzed my skin and went over what she would like to do and the products she would like to use. She was very thorough in explaining everything and got started working on my skin. After that, the details got fuzzy. Between the relaxing music, soothing blue decor and Kim's magic touch; I began to slip into some serious relaxation . Having dealt with acne as an adult, I became accustomed to always have extractions done with facials. I never enjoyed the extractions but found that they were often necessary. Kim felt confident that should could clear my pores with her pineapple scrub and manual manipulation of my skin (i.e. massage) and she was right! I recall a chamomile oil cleanse at first, then the pineapple scrub, micro current and a seaweed mask. In between those there was an amazing Décolletage/Shoulder/Arm/Hand massage. It was better than some of the massages I have had in fancy spas! After we were done, I looked at my skin and was amazed at how much cleaner and clearer it was with just manipulation and the products she used. Best of all, my skin didn't have any reactions or sensitivity after the facial. I didn't have any skin purging either. In fact, my skin looked so good, I went several days without using foundation/powder and no one noticed that I didn't have makeup on (except for filling in my brows and lip gloss). If anything, I was just getting compliments on my skin. Kim did give me recommendations for at home care but didn't push any products on me. If you want a place that will address your skincare needs without having to take 4 hours out of your day or the frufruness of so called "high end" places that charge an insane amount if money for BS things no one cares about (like free tea/coffee/wine), then this place is for you. Step inside, let them take care of you for a while and then go about your day. It is definitely worth a visit. I will return and I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

Not only was the place clean and it smelled good but the personalized feeling once walking through the door was the icing on the cake. Lol Kim greeted me at the door and was very friendly. The room was beautiful. The walls were nice and the set up was clean and organized. She went over my intake information and asked questions. She explained the treatment plan and that it may change based upon what she saw on under the light. Kim explained products being used and how they would help the skin. Nica did a great job. She asked at the beginning if I wanted her to explain what she was doing or just be quiet so I could relax which I appreciated. Looking for an opportunity to support a Black woman-owned spa, I made an appointment at Katura for a bikini wax. The spa is open on Monday only for waxing. I'd read many great reviews about Nica after finding her on Instagram, I was excited to see if she lived up to the hype. I'm happy to say she did an amazing job, is very knowledgeable and went above and beyond with her advice regarding some concerns I had. She was a sweetheart and asked engaging questions to help provide better service. She is very quick and thorough with her waxing and they use the wax that hardens and rips off, not the wax + strip combo.
