A very laid back café with a great and comfy music selection. This is our go to spot for Sunday mornings, two mochas(one special and one karma) with the occasional bite to eat for breakfast. The food selection from what we had so far has been nothing short of amazing. Granted, that was only breakfast, but it takes you to a level of comfort that throws all your worries and casts them away, past the back entrance and into the sea. read more

Just a few steps to the ocean so you can sit at one of their outdoor tables either in front or behind the resteraunt and literally hear the waves breaking. really great location with warm ambiance FANTASTIC breakfast sandwiches! I just left this place and I HAD to immediately get on here and write a review. Biscuits and gravy - OMG. I have been on a quest around the United States (seriously) looking for biscuits and gravy that match the quality of the ones my grandma used to make from scratch. And these came pretty damn close. The only downside is, it was a special of the day, which means they don't have it every day. Sadness. I also had their chai latte, which was super tasty. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his meal ("Bedhead" bagel sandwich with bacon, and coffee). Plus the service was friendly, SUPER FAST, and the prices were reasonable. My favorite breakfast place! Their menu is small but everything is good. They have great drinks including everything from chai lattes to blended coffee. Great breakfast sandwiches and eggs and giant fresh fruit bowls. Relaxing atmosphere, friendly service, cool art, and comfy couches to sit on, what more could you ask for on a Saturday morning? We came here by recommendation of other Yelp viewers as well as the bell-hop at our hotel. It is a nice little place with good accommodations to sit and enjoy some coffee... however, I just don't see the value or the quality of food. We ordered breakfast sandwiches which appear to be assembled no differently than at McDonalds with pre-cooked eggs, microwaved sausage, and cooked bacon that seemed like it was out-of-a-bag. I ordered a Kali something or other that was supposed to include avocado... which I guess it did, but it was just a store bought avocado spread... you know, the kind where there are so many preservatives in it to prevent it from going bad that they have to add artificial avocado flavors! We ended up spending over $40 for 4 sandwiches, 2 regular coffees, and 2 small smoothies for the kids. I just don't see the hype or value here. I wish we went somewhere else. read more

(Pretty Damn Good) I recommend the triple sausage patty breakfast sandwich with their tropical ice tea. Took my mom and Uncle for breakfast here on their last morning in town. Even though we have lived in IB the last nine months we had never been her but thought we'd give it a try. We were pleasently surprised. For for three coffees, two awesome smoothies (surprisingly big for the cost), a huge cinnamon roll big enough for us all to share AND four amazing breakfast sandwiches it was only $40 something. Katy's is an eclectic mix of The Little Mermaid meets Endless Summer where you feel under the sea with aquatic sea life on the walls and Katy's surf paintings throughout. It's your cool So Cal beach cafe The food is tasty and healthy, well the cinnamon buns are definitely tasty but I have not had a meal that I did not like. Service is great but Katy is well known down in the South Bay/IB, so It can get busy. Be patient, say hi to the crew and you will have your espresso and bagel no time flat. read more

This place is full of locals and beach folk. The menu has a great selection of sandwiches and breakfast goodies. The server was amazing and made a special child's plate with French toast for the little one. I'm not up early enough for breakfast but if I am, I'm going to come back here. Today was my first time eating at this café and I had an amazing experience. It wasn't crowded and it had a laid back feel to it. The café has caffeinated drinks, smoothies, and teas. They also have a menu which had breakfast and lunch. (I went around 11:30). I ate a bagel with cream cheese, provolone, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and bean sprouts. Very delicious. Her acai bowl is by far the most colorful offering five different types of fruit. The prices were inexpensive, definitely worth the food. The atmosphere is mermaid themed and the staff is extremely friendly. If you ever find yourself in Imperial Beach, I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Yum, yum, yummy!!!!! We stayed in IB for the weekend and came to Katy's for our first breakfast. What a warm & inviting atmosphere! The servers were all sweet, helpful & inviting. I felt like a local! Warning, though, the hot beverages are HOT HOT HOT!!!! Super hot. I ate all of my croissant breakfast sandwich and my latte was still hot. Once it cooled down it was fantastic. The Croissant sandwich was pretty good. I had it with avocado, but it was more like guacamole. I don't recommend the avocado/guacamole on the croissant sandwich because the heat the whole thing at the same time. I really am not a fan of warm avocado/guacamole. The hubs had the pesto eggs. YUM YUM YUM. SOOOO good. Even my 8 year old kid like it! read more

I love it when I get a chance to breakfast at Katy's. It like going to you Aunt's beach house for a meal. Katy is sassy, her help works hard, and the food is awesome. I prefer the Bedhead with sausage! Then I take my coffee down to the beach for some meditation! The restaurant is small and quaint with paintings of Katy surfing all over and seats about 12 people. You can sit at the bar and watch the ladies buzzing around. If you are lucky you'll see the fresh cinnamon roles delivered and get one while it's warm. I am not normally a Yelp warrior and most of the time I love Katy's, until I found out today that they have ONE high chair and ONE set of silverware. I needed both to keep my daughter contained and to cut food up for her. Ended up being a waste of time. Very disappointed and annoyed. What restaurant gets by on one high chair and set of silverware? I love small town, cozy, locally owned finds like this. Went for breakfast with the kids and everyone loved their food. I loved the fruit smoothie. A cute little cafe. I got a green smoothie sans protein powder and a acai fruit bowl sans yogurt. I was only a little bummed cause I found this place by searching vegan on Yelp, but other than smoothies and coffee, the only vegan option for food was the acai fruit bowl without yogurt. I'm giving four stars because I specifically asked for no yogurt and then halfway through eating the bowl of fruit I saw yogurt at the bottom. But put together some more fruit in a to-go container to make up for it. I just hate wasting fruit, but I woulda had stomach issues with the dairy in the yogurt, enough said. In any case, the fruit was super fresh! It didn't seem like they had a variety pile of fruit in the back because the fruit flavors were still there own (strawberries didn't start tasting like cantaloupe--idk if that makes sense to anyone but I feel like with fruit salads everything ends up tasting like cantaloupe but this place avoided that!)
