Imagine yourself in a quant fishing village in Milos, Greece, where the fishermen serve the day's catch at your table overlooking the Aegean Sea. This is where I found myself at the Calypso Cafe, savoring a roasted Branzino, topped with onions, herbs and lemon slices. The fish was delicate and mild, with a slightly sweet undertone. Save yourself a 16 hour flight to the Eastern Mediterranean and enjoy the fare at Calyso Cafe.

Wife and I took a ride to this amazing spot for breakfast yesterday and we will absolutely be back anytime we are in the area. The owner was kind and accommodating, the food and mimosas were delicious, and the location is beautiful. 100% recommend.

We love Calypso Cafe! They have the best breakfast, sandwiches, and desserts. Our go to sandwiches are the Coronado and the Grilled Tuna Melt. We love the cannolis and other sweet treats too. The owner is so sweet and they really have the best service. It's a great convenience shop/restaurant for the area and the ambiance is so clean and homey. We will definitely be back to Calypso's soon!

My God I haven't had fish tacos this good in 30 years, when my father and I used to get up at 5:00 in the morning head to Ensenada and have fresh caught fish tacos brings back great memories and now I'm having them here close to home, on Tuesdays they're $2 each great service great food, and no these ain't your everyday tiny little tacos these are large size, we're so lucky they're just in our backyard

I have been trying to try this place for about 2 years and finally made it! Always had time to go on a Sunday, but they are closed. Very friendly staff, beautiful view and great food. We went Saturday midmorning and they were making fresh paella, which was filled with many types of seafood and sausages. We could maybe finish half the portion, the rest we took for a late afternoon snack. The breakfast burrito was very good, I wanted it to be a bit bigger. On burrito size, it was on the smaller side, but delicious. The gyros plate was great too, needed a bit more tzatziki, but we could have asked for more. Great dock and dine place in the south bay!

First timer here and already looking forward to my next visit; outside dining in Southern California is a treasure, especially with the water views and a clear sky. Hannah, the proprietress, was extremely friendly and welcoming, as was our server Logan. Food portions were generous and delicious, perfectly accompanied by a bottle of wine. Lamb shank fell off the bone and was served with fluffy rice, and the jus was nicely, balanced. Attention to detail here marks the difference of someone who takes pride in their work versus someone that is on auto pilot. For example, the celery that accompanied the jus with the lamb shank was crispy and not a mushy mess like I've experienced in other establishments. The half roast chicken was the size of a turkey breast and a fantastic deal. Its skin, a savory treat. My husband and I tried this place and were blown away! This cute cafe is right next to the quiet bay and was so calm and peaceful to enjoy our breakfast. We got the huevos rancheros with carne asada and they were incredible, such good flavor. The woman running the cafe was so kind and helpful. We will definitely be returning! read more

Delicious breakfast..... in town for a day and we didn't want to go all the way into Coronado and wait hours for breakfast. Found this little hidden gem.... our group ordered the breakfast burrito, the sandwich and the pancakes. The sourdough bread on the sandwich was to die for. The young man working the cash register was very helpful and cheerful. I would recommend this place if you don't want a long wait going further into Coronado. read more

Super friendly. We live in the neighborhood & my boys love riding their bikes over to buy things like bottles of soda from the little shop. One of my sons saves his money just to buy burgers here cause they're so good. The owner is awesome to my kids. If you want to patronize a really small & local place, go here. read more

Unfortunately the service was excellent but the food left a lot to be desired. Over 40 dollars for the lamb shank and it was incredibly disappointing. Vegetables were still hard. Rice did not taste well and the lamb shank was not well seasoned. read more

Soulful local spot with great parking and splendid marina. The owner was very welcoming and gracious. They have extensive breakfast, brunch and dinner options. Variety of wines to distress and non-alcoholic drinks to re-thirst yourself. It was impressive to know that location grew from coffee cart to multiple rooms with front and back patio. They need to work on their social media scheduling updates. We came back a week later to find out that they were closed. Otherwise definitely be back! read more

Overripe avocado, eggs overcooked and dry, and very salty, cheap tasting turkey lunch meat. I expected better for a $15 breakfast sandwich. My hot latte was just warm. I had happily started out on a walk and thought to myself, let me give Katy's some love... I regretted that choice. Their cinnamon rolls are very good, I'll stick to those.

The breading is excellent, but I can see that the meat starts to become drier in the sections where the meat is thicker. And, of course, still a bit lean. Service very lacking considering how slow it was. We had the Meat Lovers Omelette $13 and the daily special of a Croissant with Egg, Cheese & Sausage $9. The croissant was dry, flaky and not served warm. The Omelette was better, but just average. The breakfast potatoes were the best part of the meal. We had a small dog, so we sat outside on the patio, which offered a peaceful, pleasant view. There were no condiment caddies, menus or rollups out there, so we had to go inside and gather things ourselves. If I had been alone with my dog, this would have been an issue. What a dump, And the food, please somebody please call the health department! Spoiled food in the deli case, dirty tables, cant even sit at one, without getting grease and food all over some part of your clothing. I went to order a dinner item, thinking that they might have something worth while, but after taking a look in their disorganized kitchen, ETC, FOOD sitting out, not in ice or steamtable, I took two steps and ran. Calypso Café is a bright spot in our week--we are recently relocated to Coronado with three children; my husband and I consider it our ritual to escape for a coffee date at least once a week. We are always treated to a stellar breakfast and amazing coffee (blueberry!), and lively conversation with Hannah, whether we sit inside looking at the bejeweled mirrors and curving staircase of wine or outside overlooking the mini harbor of boats. Called and spoke to the owner to see if she sold maple syrup before walking over there. She asked me if I was in the cay's because she was closing at 3 I told her yes and that I would be right over . When I got there the owner was in her car and driving away at 254 she rolled down her window and I said I called you about the syrup and she said sorry I closed and set the alarm.
