This has to be the greatest coffee place on this side of town. Possibly in all of San Diego. I stayed at Sun Outdoors nearby and I got coffee here 3x in 2 days. Kian is extremely nice, and knows how to make coffee, my goodness. I've been getting an iced latte with hazelnut, subbing oatmilk. It's a 12/10. If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I'd give 7. I love this place, and I will keep going back if I am in the area. I highly recommended this incredible place to anyone!!! You will not be disappointed. I am so impressed with the quality of their coffee, I wish they had this where I live (2 hours away). Stopped in on Saturday morning around 9am after a long trail walk from the Gaylord. We were hungry and ready for some coffee and breakfast. We stood around for several minutes and there was nobody at the counter. After several minutes, a staff person came out but did not greet us or offer assistance. The staff person proceeded to talk to a customer that came in after us. We left without ordering. The tables were also not wiped down. Convenient restaurant when staying at the Rambler Motel. It's clean, with outside and indoor seating. There are video games against the wall and lively music playing. Our food was hot and fresh. I ordered the BbQ Chicken Salad, it was fresh with engorged tasty bits of veggies and chicken. It was for 11.99. Husband ordered the Turkey Club which was loaded with meat, bacon, tomato, Lettuce and avocado. Husband was satisfied. The meals came out together fairly quick. Being able to wake up and walk to the coffee was the best part of this hotel. The baristas were so quick and helpful. The cafe is decorated so cute the drink tasted delicious and had milk alternative options. They also had pastries and some breakfast items. I drank coffee and got to play on the pinball machines! My friend and I were doing a staycation at the Gaylord Pacific Resort and we wanted to eat something out of the resort before heading home and she stumbled upon this place. I'm glad she did! The cafe is really cute inside and there's an arcade. We were surprised that it was part of the motel and that is where to park. I got the horchata matcha, which was unique, and the bagel sandwich. Food and drinks are still good but customer service is terrible. I came on the weekend and again yesterday. Both times I've gotten the same rude cashier/barista. He has curly hair, wears glasses, and apparently his name is Esteban. He seems annoyed every time anyone asks for anything. When I came on Saturday he told me that they did not give out cups of water so I'd have purchase a water bottle. Funny thing is I've gotten water before, and yesterday when I came he gave another lady a cup of water. Prices are a bit overpriced for snacks. A bag of chips is close to $5 w/tax. They have also removed a lot of items on their menu. They use to sell smoothies that I loved but now they have none. Yesterday they only had wheat bread available for all their sandwiches. The matcha I had the other day was the MOST BITTER I have ever tasted. Whatever you do, DO NOT GET THE MATCHA. Anyways, bummed that this place is going down hill. This is a unique place. Attached to the hotel there and setup like a coffee shop but with old 80's video games and pinball machines that give it an old arcade feeling. I needed a place to work and caffeinate and the Rambler stood out for its great reviews. I was one of the first customers there and took a look at the menu for a bit. I was exploring the area with my wife after visiting the marina and came across Rambler Coffee. The colors and style of the Rambler Motel caught our attention and when my wife saw they had a coffee shop, she was very intrigued so we headed over. Once inside, the place seemed very clean. The young woman behind the counter was very nice and made our drinks well. Other than coffee, there's a fridge area with a good selection of snacks. Also, a freezer with American and Mexican ice cream favorites. There's a little arcade area of retro games and an amazing wall art of a license plate. The place looks well maintained inside and out. There's a pool outside but I didn't take pictures because people were swimming and didn't want to enter creeper status. We would definitely come back for coffee if in the area again. read more

Off the beaten path on Bay Boulevard this little cafe exists. It's on site of the Rambler Hotel and next door to Seven Mile Casino (which I also forgot exists). The cafe is a neat little set up that has space to hang out. Small arcade inside for the kiddos. The iced Vietnamese was good but you could tell they put a lot of ice in it. The breakfast sandwich was decent and had a lot of portion to it. Overall a coffee and sandwich plus tip ran close to $20 (rounded up). Came to try a new place to do homework. Rambler is a cute place! Lots and lots of seating options. Indoor and outdoor. It's definitely more than just a coffee shop. It's a great place for a quick breakfast and coffee and also a late night hang out place or perfect for a fun date night. They have coffee, smoothies, breakfast/lunch food and late nights snackies. They also have a large variety of other snacks to purchase, drinks and even cup of noodle too. They are also a part of the rambler motel. They have at least 9 different atacare games to play with. As well as retro seating options. They also have a nice little view of the San Diego bay. I got the latte with brown sugar toffee syrup. It was alright. I wish they didn't just have 16&20 Oz sizes. Sometimes thag can be too much. But hey! That's just personal preference. I didn't get much of a brown sugar toffee flavor... but it was a decent latter! I also got their avocado toast. It was tasty! They had three bread options, which was great. But it was a simple, avocado toast with tomato! Not too salty, simple and delicious just how it should be! Can't complain about that! Service was friendly and helpful. Would def come back again, but probably at night to play the arcade games and try their nighttime snacks. Also, they close at 8pm. The Rambler is a cool spot. It's certainly in an odd spot, but definitely serving the local Rambler Motel and travelers on Interstate 5. It offers a trendy look with friendly customer service. I had the avocado toast and a cafe au lait. For $9 and some change I did expect more from the avocado toast. They serve it on a thick sourdough toast which is nice, but for the price, I actually expect freshly sliced avocado, so you could imagine how I felt when I received a pre-made avocado spread. I would also bet it came from a package, given the high water content and bland flavor it had. I do like that they sprinkled some black pepper on the toast. In the end, it was okay, but freshly sliced or even freshly smashed avocado would of been much better. Furthermore, they need to make sure they put a good toasting on such a thick slice of toast. A golden brown would be just grand. After all, it is called "toast." Also, the toast was simple, with just the avocado spread and tomatoes. The addition of a little feta cheese or pearl mozzarella balls would go a long way and better support that $10 and seem fair. The cafe au lait was very good. However, my wife and I ordered two coffees straight off the menu (no alterations) and a simple egg sandwich with ham. There were two people working on a Sunday morning. The coffee literally took 30 minutes to be ready. The sandwich took 40 minutes and it was wrong. I ordered it on sourdough and I got it on croissant. The ham was layered on so it tasted like a thick ham sandwich with egg, rather than egg sandwich with ham. I don't think I would have as much of a problem if the girl taking our order warned us "We're short handed so orders are taking a bit longer than usual." And we'd know what to expect.
