It was about a 45-minute drive for us, but so worth it. We got the teriyaki chicken and kalbi short ribs was so flavorful and well seasoned it was SO good! We loved everything we got! The place is pretty small and has more of a casual takeout-style setup. They bring your food out in takeout containers, and if you eat there, you clean up after yourself. Super laid-back and cute! I heard there was a Hawaiian BBQ restaurant in Speedway. I finally had a moment, and was in the area. I ordered the same plate I used to get when living in Cali, and visiting Hawaii. To be honest I wasn't very hopeful. I went in dinner hours. Small with a few tables. They had a few door dash orders to go. My order was ready very quick. I saw there was 2 containers for sauce. One was the Katsu and the other Teriyaki. I got one of each to go. Got home, opened it up, smelled amazing, looked amazing. Pricing was great, the man at the counter was super nice, & the restaurant was clean and had plenty of seating. I liked that they weren't price gouging for things. A bottle of water was only $1. It also came with macaroni salad, rice, and underneath the meat some steamed veggies! I didn't love the bbq beef but it could just be my taste buds. I like their BBQ chicken and katsu. They are both good and reasonably priced in my opinion. The seating inside is limited, and not exactly a "cozy" space. When I got there, there was a self-order screen which was easy to use. I had a little cash on me and saw a tip jar on the counter, so when I paid for my order with my credit card, I hit the Skip button for the tips. However, the receipt showed that they still charged 15% tip on my card. This had never happened to me before at any business. I do not know what kind of error it was, but I perceived it as deceitful and sneaky. However, when I brought it to the staff's attention, he corrected the amount right away which I appreciated. The plates are like they should be: a lot of good quality food at decent prices. We got the katsu and bulgogi combo plate ($15) and galbi plate ($17). Hubby loved the bulgogi. Stopped in to see what they had to offer and got the Hawaiian BBQ plate whoch comes with 2 scoops of rice, macaroni salad, chicken, beef short ribs and Korean beef. Decided to try this place on a Wednesday night. The place is very nicely decorated with Hawaiian decor. One wall stood out as it had a large painted image on it which was quite good. It was not very busy on this Wednesday and our food came out with what was an acceptable wait. You order at the counter so it's not full service however the guy taking our order was friendly and helpful. Currently the drinks they offer are in bottles and cans. The water bottles are only $1 each which was pleasantly surprising. I didnt ask if there are any plans to get fountain drinks so I don't know if that is a plan or not. We decided to try a couple of the appetizers which were the lava poppers which were 100% amazing and also the crab rangoons which were good also but were very similar to what you get at a Chinese restaurant. For our meals we got the Kalbi Short Ribs and the Molokai Chicken which was just like orange chicken. The ribs were amazing as we will definitely get those again. Both meals came with some veggies, a side of plain rice and a side of macaroni salad. Overall we were extremely happy with the service and the food. I went up to the registers and ordered my food through their self serve kiosks. No one asked did I need help or anything. I ordered and sat down at the table with my kids. We got the chicken katsu masubi and lava poppers to try. I asked the lady at the from for a cup of water and she said they don't have the set up to give a cup of water. That kind of was a turn off. People might want some water to wash down the food. That was weird. It didn't take long to get the food. The masubi was good but the seaweed was a bit too stretchy and chewy. It definitely took away from the experience. The lava poppers were good. They reminded me of a tempura fried sushi.
