Weak kava, plus they only serve you half a cup. Definitely not worth the money, because there are much better Kava places around.

I'm a bit torn on how to review this. I went tonight with a friend. The bartender was really nice, explained everything clearly and made suggestions. He suggested we get Kava and a tea. We started with the "punch in the face" which is a very strong kava alongside a pink lemonade tea. Kava tastes pretty vile if I'm being honest. Like straight up mud. But of course that's not the bar's fault. And it was sort of fun to drink out of the metal shell. The tea tasted a bit weird but it was okay. I didn't like that it came in a pre made bottle but it was fine. After that we tried one of the flavoured kava shots. I still thought it tasted nasty but my friend liked it. Kava also makes your tongue really tingly just FYI. We also got one of their mixed tea drinks. They have a lot of flavors to choose from, we got ocean water. This tasted really good, it was probably the only thing I'd get again. We felt much more inebriated than we expected to but it was okay. What wasn't okay was how our stomachs turned soon after we left. We were extremely nauseous and my friend threw up a lot. We did a quick Google search and found this is actually a pretty common reaction for beginner kava drinkers, especially if you have a good amount. I really think the bartender should have told us to be careful and let us know we were drinking a lot and might get sick. When we first walked in he told us "it's like being tipsy but you're not impaired, you can still drive, and you won't feel like shit." Neither of these things were true. We felt like shit and we had to wait to drive because we were tipsier than we expected to be. The effects of the substance are not the bar's fault, but I believe they should be informed of these likely possibilities and be more up front about them. read more

My youngest daughter has been begging me to come here with her for the past couple years. I did so tonight. The atmosphere is much like any divey bar you can imagine. People are very friendly and civilized. The bartender Esther was really very pleasant and sweet. It's a very comfortable hang out in my opinion. I tried the kava per my daughters suggestion, as I have never had it before. It has a thick earthy flavor, and I brighten it with a little Stevia and lemon. I experienced the tingly numb sensation on the tongue that I have been advised happens with consuming kava. I've had no ill or adverse effects. I consider this a unique experience and I enjoyed my time there. I probably will be back if my daughter asks me to go with her. But I doubt I will make it a habit. read more

The tiki type of atmosphere, calming music and videos playing. The bartenders were very pleasant and informative. They recommended the ED Shell to start since we were not seasoned Kava drinkers. The Kava came is a silver bowl with a pineapple attached. I have to admit it was not the tastiest stuff, glad the pineapple came with it. After drinking the Kava I felt a bit of numbness in my mouth and throat and potentially I may of felt a calming sensation. I will preface this with that I have never had a beverage here. Ive been to this location twice and been ignored. Once was a busy Friday so I gave it a second chance ,still not even acknowledged. The staff didn't seem interested in helping. I also have now been mistreated by the company on their public Facebook page. Saying my review is fake, this seems to be what they do with anything negative said about them. People take some constructive criticism and give your staff a lesson on customer service. I'm not a kava fanatic, but I do like kratom. Kavasutra I is OK, but I feel II is a better atmosphere (see my other review). I've gone to I get kratom at least 4 times, and I pretty much just purchase it and leave, I don't hang out there, whereas at II I feel comfortable hanging at the bar for some time. It's a frat-boy kind of vibe, lots of young dudes staring (I don't dress like a hooker and I'm not supermodelish, so it's not warranted). And I usually go late afternoon/early evening, so it's kind of weird to get that sort of vibe so early in the day. I'd understand if it were midnight. The people behind the bar are somewhat friendly, but the prices are higher here than II which is unusual, and the last time I went they didn't have 15X, they only had a stronger one. The atmosphere, besides the frat boys, is decent, but a little cramped and noisy. I prefer II even though it's further for me. I'm not saying it's terrible or anything, I just prefer II. And like I said, I don't actually drink kava, so I'm not an expert or anything. Who knows, they might have a better kava selection, maybe it's cheaper than II, and they make up in price for the kratom. Just a wild guess. If you're a young dude or party girl, go for it. :) read more

I considered this kavasutra a home away from home, spending easily $200 a day. But once i started ordering anything other than kava and kratom the staffs attitudes changed. I was even told "if you want other drinks, you can go to the gas station." " if you're not going to buy kava you're taking up paying customer space". The establishment is maintained well. The atmosphere is very chilled out and the people there are cool. Now, the drinks are reasonably priced. Other kava bars can run you $16 plus change for one drink where Kavasutra can get you two pink lemonades for $15 plus change. Also, the kava isn't just mixed in with water for digestion that you can find at other bars, but the kava is mixed with different flavors. I recommend that you give it a try. read more

I have been coming here for about a year..Its a quiet chill place a great alternative to the bar scene, they serve kava and Kratum..I go because they serve aloe yogurt water..think a really light chilled smoothie. .its deelicious after a long day, the customer service is unbelievable and a credit to the service industry.All walks of people are welcome here from eccentric car mechanics, all the way to the philosophical kava tender Justin, along with "WIse Josh" Reese and Skylar! I've been going to this kava bar for years, since they opened. It's a place to hang out without a bar vibe. The people, both staff and customers are friendly and open minded. I love that there is a selection of kava varieties and flavors to disguise the earthy flavor which I've never acquired a taste for. For kratom users, there is a selection of extracts and leaf. I have met people that have become very good friends, from all ages and professions. Lawyers, doctors, students, surfer dudes, servers, massage therapists, welders and hair stylists, to name a few. As a woman in my mid- forties, I have never felt uncomfortable Once or twice a week there are talented musician/singers, as well. After years of visiting this establishment, I expected a level of respect that I was not given by the staff. After enjoying a shell and making friendly conversation with other patrons, I was approached by the staff and was told to leave. I asked why and they refused to give an answer. I feel that if it were a legitimate reason, then it would have been explained and I would have had no problem with leaving. However, this was not the case. Both myself, and the group I was with were subjected to mistreatment and as much as I USED TO love the place, I will NEVER SET FOOT IN THERE AGAIN unless it is to warn other customers of the danger. The short end of it, avoid prejudice and mistreatment by NOT SUPPORTING this business or the two other's owned by the same person (an ice cream shop and a vape shop). I'm a fan of kava drinks, but my experience at this "bar" has been literally revolting. The bartender reminded me of one of those annoying Jehovah's Witness' that try to push you to get into their stuff, in this case, an overpriced $16 dollar "mixed drink." And when I said I'll think about it, he just yelled "hater!" and walked away. When I finally did order a drink, it literally looked like it was piss. The color was literally sickening. Josh told me that he's aiming for 1 star, but if it were the other way around, where 1 was great, then I would rate otherwise. Despite other reviewer's opinion and having kava for the first time, my experience was great. I was already in good spirits before getting there and the kava just kept it going. I came into town for a visit on a Sunday evening where apparently there isn't much to do. My friend and I were down to do something chill and low key and gave me two choices. It was cold out so she was thinking of going to a vegan cafe for a hot tea or this kava bar. I didn't know what kava was, but was open to either one. Her initial pick however was the cafe, but to her surprise, it was closed down. So kava it was! It's location is in where I can only assume is the "hot spot" of town((reminds me a lot of the Hollywood strip in downtown Hollywood, but shorter)), so the area is pretty lively. Well as lively as I can imagine it can get for Lakeworth((Im from Miami, so it wouldn't really be fair to compare it)). This place reminds me of a hookah lounge, but with less pillows. There are however some benches behind the bar, not just for sharing with your partner or a group of friends but what I learned can be very useful for laying out after the kava hits you enough. And i guess you lay and ponder or float or reflect or just feel or go wherever it is the kava takes you. Josh is one of the guys behind the bar. He's great. Knows what he's doing and does a good job at it. I have no complaints regarding service here. Which apparently is the reason why this place gets a bad rap. In his defense, him and I guess the rest of his colleagues are real and honest. Which I can understand why it could potentially rub some the wrong way. Fortunately I had no problems with service, as said and gave Josh a $10 tip for his real-ness and honesty or simply, his genuine service. As far as taste goes, for those((like myself))that are virgins to kava, it taste like dirt water. And if you're ok with that then bottoms up. I needed some honey. But no fret, if you can't handle the dirt, they do have flavors, I tried coconut. Moreover, if you are a first timer, try it naked, then see how you feel. Went into the bar tonight as a first timer. Wasn't packed so I asked a lot of questions. Felt pushed into trying certain drinks but it was happy hour and the prices were right. Really appreciate a happy hour on a Saturday. The locals seemed to know more than the waitstaff but that's ok. Kava didn't really affect me, had a double + egg bowl + shot. I'm not sure if the taste was bad because it was kava or the way it was mixed but everyone seemed to enjoy it. Left after playing some games and meeting some new people plus learning some new things. Horrible service.. servers are rude as hell and ignore you when you're trying to order. Kava is watered down and not even worth it. They changed the hours for happy hour and removed the 1 oclock slams which was the best deal they had. There's a few other kava bars that have way better kava and kratom for a better price.
