We had a really good dinner here. Service was friendly and attentive. Plates were cleared frequently and we were offered additional refills on our soup base. We started by choosing our base. My husband had the tom yum (kha?) one and our granddaughter had the classic and I chose the chicken one. My base started out a bit salty, but after all the additions it was perfect -- no need to add extra soy or salt to the broth. For sauces I chose two standards -- hoisin sauce and a mix i made of some soy sauce and vinegar (which I used for the dumplings). At our leisure -- it's all you can eat -- we tried many of the offerings. We skipped most of the exotic ones -- except my husband who happens to like chicken feet. I went for the seafood first. And liked most of what I chose, especially the large prawns which were my favorite. And I also really liked the rounds of shrimp paste. The clams were tiny, but good. The blue crabs were small and awkward to eat when so hot. I'd skip them next time. I also tried some beef and pork, but found the seafood options more to my liking. Of the veggies, I had a mix just to try a number of things. The baby bok choy leaves, the cabbage, and the bean sprouts were good, but I fell in love with those tiny little enoki mushrooms. My least faves were the taro and the hard squash For dessert, they also have fresh fruit (cherries, etc.) and cake squares on the buffet. And a separate ice cream bar. I liked their green tea ice cream the best. We were so stuffed when we left. But happy campers. We felt the price of the AYCE was well worth it here. We'd definitely come again. My wife had book marked this place a while and we had our granddaughter visiting who also had hot pot on her bucket list. I'm currently doing a cleanse and had a lunch meeting today, I was trying to think of somewhere that had options for everybody whilst offering a ton of greens for me. I love going to hot pot as of vegan because there are so many choices. Being on a cleanse, I have limited foods that I can choose from when I go out, but I was able to eat a ton of food in quantity here, it was great! The staff was super friendly for lunch. What a fun concept! Basically you go in and choose your flavor broth and then you go up like a buffet and pick all of your protein and veggies and your cook your meal in soup. The staff is friendly and kind, but they don't really do too much for you, except bring you a drink. I always get the curry and it's delicious. A lot of my family will get the basic broth and they enjoy it. There's every imaginable, protein and vegetable you could think of and you could pick different types of noodles as well. They have a small little dessert area to enjoy a sweet treat at the end. The place is clean and the bathroom is clean. Parking is easy. read more

I've had two visits to The Hot Spot and had to leave my review. I love the concept of hot pots and especially like this location for how fresh, efficient and great the experience is from beginning to end. You start off by selecting your broth-- this is essential to make a wise decision since you can't switch out your broths as you refill. Yes, they continue to refill the broth until you tap out. Both times I selected the cajun spice broth with one pepper indicator of spice level. My friend chose the Mala with 3 peppers and I was able to taste it-- this will be my next selection when I return: Sooo good!! Spicy but also flavourful! Once you've selected your broth you can select your fixins-- leafy greens, noodles, protein, dumplings, protein-- some familiar ones: shrimp, beef options, chicken breasts and some more exotic/unique options like frog legs and chicken feet. Once you've made your selections-- you can always go back for seconds, thirds, fourths; they recommend starting small to prevent waste, you can pick your sauces/herbs. Popular selections: hot chili oil (add spice as you please), oyster sauce, cilantro, ginger. Lots of options and some recommendation combinations. I was hungry for lunch and decided to let the all knowing Yelpers direct me. Hot Spot is a great place to partake in a meal that is not only tasty but filling. When you walk in the establishment is clean and inviting. The waiter who was in the front was pleasant and very accommodating. From greeting me at the door to always ensuring I was ok without being over bearing. I choose the pho broth....been craving it. Then went to the buffet and I was amazed. I had been to a hot pot in the past and was disappointed but I'm very happy with all the offerings. Fresh I mean FRESH vegetables with lots of variety. The fish looked inviting and kept on ice with addition ice on top to keep them chilled. Homemade dumplings and meat/fish balls were so good. The meat offered frozen as it should be were very tender. The sauce station did not leaving you wishing they had something. Dessert offered fresh fruit (pineapple was sugar sweet) and a soft flavorful chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. If I was not so full I would have tried the coconut or key lime pie. Lol As an aside very clean and well maintained female bathroom... as we know is a fear in itself. My husband is a spice lover and he had total control over how spicy he made his broth but others like no spice so you just get chicken broth. The items to put on your broth are endless and it is very hard to "screw it up". You can find items not available at other Hot Pot places but at the same time, they didn't have some items I really like, you win some, you lose some. My other small gripe was the ice cream chest, was way to cold so it was hard to scoop and it wasn't replenished so many of them were basically empty. We were going to be arriving about 45 minutes before they closed (10PM) and we wanted to make sure we could be served. We were told that they start breaking down about 9:45. At about 9:30 they called us back, just to make sure we were coming. They actually left the selections out a bit lo0nger and checked if we wanted any more from a particular area before they broke it down. A very nice touch. Very impressed. The food was excellent.
