I love this place! Service is so kind and friendly. We order takeout at least once a week and the orders are always right. Calling them in is easier than the app, IMO. That is just me! They have an extensive Japanese menu! You can even get Hamachi-Broiled yellow tail! Sooo delicious! Their miso soup is sooo good too! I can't make my broth this good. I ordered three sushi rolls to-go around 6:45 pm Sunday night and was really disappointed with the quality. Two of the rolls were basically inedible. The spicy tuna was very chewy and mushy, had almost no flavor, and the fish on top of the rolls had the same tough texture. I've also never seen such red mushy spicy tuna. By the time I got home (about a 12-minute drive) the rolls were room temperature, which was already concerning! When placing my order, I also requested extra ginger and ponzu on the side but only received soy sauce which again is super disappointing. I normally don't complain about food and usually just let things go, but I spent about $50 and expected better quality. I waited to leave a review because I wanted to speak with the restaurant first. I tried calling the next morning but they were closed on Monday, so I called Tuesday/ today. I was told they would not issue a refund because I didn't call the same night and didn't have proof that the food was uneaten or not at temperature. I'll attach photos below, the only reason I didn't call the night of was because complaining is uncomfortable for me, which I guess is my bad. I understand businesses have policies, but it was disappointing to spend that much on food I couldn't eat and then not have it resolved. I hope they can improve consistency and customer service going forward. I waited to post this because I wanted to speak with the restaurant first, but the lady I spoke to was rude and refused to help because I'm the "only person who's complained in 12 years " lol. I understand having policies, but the lack of flexibility and the poor quality of the food means I can't recommend this spot & won't be back. read more

Hubby had a taste for some Pan Thai noodles and found the Kawa Sushi Restaurant nearby. After enjoying his noodles he was so excited for me to check out this 'new spot'. There are so many positives with this restaurant. #1. Their Thai Bubble Tea is DELICIOUS! #2. Their music was so calming and soothing - slow as well as contemporary. Need to know the station. #3. The staff is welcoming and attentive. #4. The restrooms are clean! Now that's important! Our server, Ella, was nice and courteous. She wanted to make sure, our meals were prepared to our liking. I don't eat spicy whereas hubby loves fire-breathing hot. My salad was fresh and tasty with the ginger dressing. Even though the restaurant has been around for 11 years, the food is excellent! Absolutely delicious sushi (I had the King Dragon Roll and the Ginza Roll), phenomenally flavorful Japanese style beef noodle, and the basil dish was very tasty and spicy. I also had the Karo milk bubble tea, which tasted like cereal milk in the BEST way. The ambiance was perfect, like a peaceful haven. I honestly forgot to take a picture of my sushi but the BABY OCTOPUS was AMAZING!! It had so much flavor and it wasnt cheey or anything. I literally almost licked the plate from how good the sauce was. The service was really good. Our server was very friendly and she was telling us which dishes and Saki tatse the best. This place is top rated in Palm Coast but it is truly a disaster! Especially when you pickup or get delivery it's even worse! Take a look at this Ichiban roll that was picked up for me tonight. Would you eat this?? I have had other items there in person which is a bit better but the atmosphere is dingy and service is unaccommodating. Their rice is meh and their fish is small and how's no wow factor. Went to Sushi House in St. John's and saw the difference big time in what's happening here in Palm Coast, which is there is no audience here that knows the difference between mediocre and lacking food to fabulous food and experience. i ordered SUshi and some deep fried veggies on DoorDash. the fried food tasted like metal, the sushi was nearly uneatable, bland and soggy. And to top it off they included soy sauce that was obviously way watered down. I should say they included a container that was water with a little brown color in it. There are so many great things I can say about this place. The hospitality was amazing. They greeted us we big smiles and were so sweet to my kids. Everything tasted amazing and very fresh. I actually really liked this place until today. Inside is quiet, clean and not too busy to enjoy lunch. BUT TODAY Miso soup tasted funny.! Teriyaki Chicken Lunch was okay. The lady at the front looks angry and not very welcoming. I was served my food and then I was given no utensils, when I asked for chopsticks, the lady yelled "FORK?!". It was embarrassing. The chicken katsu & udon were both generous portions. Sushi rolls hit the spot & fulfilled our cravings. There's also Thai dishes on their menu. We couldn't resist having some boba tea too. Service was good. The location is in a strip near a Publix on the corner of Palm Coast Parkway and Belle Terre Parkway. I am not often this generous with stars, but I have to say, the take-out meal we just had from Kawa Sushi was excellent! We haven't been to Kawa Sushi in awhile and my husband, and I, both felt that there has been a definitive change in the taste and quality of the food we had. Not that it wasn't good before--it was-- it's just that now it seems even better! Five-Star better! We ordered the Japanese spring rolls, shumai appetizer, shrimp tempura appetizer, and the Japanese Hibachi Noodles with chicken. The spring rolls were light, flaky, crispy, and not oily; the filling tasted perfect; exactly how you want your spring rolls to be. And at 3 for $5.95, in my opinion, quite a bargain! The shumai were, also perfection--moist, little dumplings of pleasurable umami in your mouth. My husband said the tempura appetizer was better than ever, and what with 2 shrimp and an interesting variety of tempura veggies, another great deal! We had never had their Japanese Hibachi Noodles before, but, because we both love the noodles you get at the Japanese steakhouses, we decided to try them. With a nice-sized order that can easily feed two, (or more, as a second, or side, dish), we fully enjoyed the flavorful, well-prepared dish of noodles, chicken, onions, scallions, and finely shredded pieces of carrot, with a mild-flavored sauce. This is a run down place but the staff is super friendly. My husband ordered the Thai lunch vegetable curry with red sauce. It was amazing! Light, yet flavor packed. My order of the Sashimi bento box was rather small for the price. The sashimi was very small cuts though fresh. Included was two pieces of fried shumai, 1/2 California roll, and steamed rice that was ever so slightly Al dente. I also ordered a Salmon hand roll that was very nice. I may have just picked the wrong meal as everything else was delicious. I do recommend the Thai dishes and will return when I'm in the mood for Thai cuisine. Also, out of fairness, there was a party of three behind us that ordered the Shrimp Tempura and it was absolutely huge and looked delicious! A little surprised at how good this unassuming Palm Coast Thai/sushi place was! As with most Thai/sushi places, the menu is very large. A cucumber appetizer was brought for the table to share which was tasty and refreshing. Most of the entrees came with soup or salad. Mine did not but I ordered a ginger salad a la carte. Everyone at the table loved the ginger dressing and thought it was one of the best we had ever tasted. For entrees we ordered: Pad Thai Chicken Teriyaki Basil Tofu Bento Box with Salmon All of the food was fresh tasting and flavorful. 14 year old's salmon was not over cooked. I enjoyed my tofu which had the lightest sear. The sauce tasted good but was a little too gooey.
