My wife and I purchased two wedding bands from the Palm Desert Kay Jewelers on June 25, 2026, for $6,125.21 to be soldered to her existing wedding ring. Unfortunately, what should have been an exciting purchase has turned into a month-long ordeal. We left her wedding ring with the store so all three rings could be soldered together once the second band arrived. On July 7, we picked up the ring only to discover it still had a missing diamond, so it had to be sent back. On July 15, we picked it up again. Within 10 minutes of my wife wearing it, a diamond fell out of one of the brand-new bands. We returned it on July 16 and were told it would be rushed. On July 25, after hearing nothing, we called for an update. We were told the ring had already come back from repair, but two additional stones on the new bands were found to be loose and it still hadn't been sent back out. We were never contacted with this information. We only found out because we called. We understand that mistakes can happen. What has been disappointing is the repeated quality issues, lack of communication, and the amount of time we've been without my wife's wedding ring. At this point, we're hoping Kay Jewelers' corporate office and store management will step in to ensure the repair is completed correctly and that the ring is thoroughly inspected before it's returned. Due to COVID, they had a list where you would put your name and a phone number so they can give you a call when they are ready. I put my information down and was waiting for 30 minutes with no type of call, so I went back. I see a couple there, getting helped. I asked them if they put their name down and low and behold, they did not. Who knows how long I could've waited for a call before I checked? It really pains me.to write this review, as I was having a very enjoyable experience purchasing a birthday present for a family member. The good: the person helping me was just that-very helpful and very nice; gave me all the coupons as applicable. As my husband was sitting down in a sitting area bc of a pain, they allowed me to take the merchandise over to him. I did volunteer to leave something of value, and proceeded to show my husband the pretty little piece. Kay jewellers gave me a nice price for the item, and it was put to me as "..... (quoted price) with tax out the door". The underhanded, sly and sneaky rip: I pay for the item, and the receipt was handed to me unintentionally face up. I notice 2 charges: the amount for the item AND a sneaky charge for $29.99. I questioned the charge, and the man said, "Remember I told you x amount, with tax, out the door?" I told him that he never told me about a warranty charge, that it was x amount out the door with tax. I continued by adding that when I jewellery shop, I've never heard of a warranty. The man was pretty nice about it, saying that he misspoke; to which I told him that it wasn't misspoken---he just never said/told me anything about a "warranty "! In any case, he did refund the $ immediately. Too bad he ruined a pleasurable experience. Cannot recommend. read more

This is the most disappointing buying experience I have ever had. My wife wanted a 5 year anniversary band to go with her wedding ring that I had purchased from the same location years before. The band was a custom build that she and the manager Bill went over to her satisfaction. After all was set, all I had to do was go in and pay for it...right? Bill and I had a little meeting about the process, taking the wedding band to fit, making the anniversary band and having everything fitted and soldered together. Should have took about 6 weeks. Plenty of time before our anniversary, I thought. I filled Bill in on everything, the date, when we would be back to fit the ring and when we would be in to pay for it on our kay card. He said no problem, he will call us when the model was ready for fitting and call again when the ring was ready. In the mean time my wife and I leave town for a vacation with friends. We were also in the middle of escrow on our first house. I received a call from Kay about a week early stating that the ring was ready...what? What happened to the fitting? The next day I received a call from another employee, he left a message as I was still out of state on vacation, asking me to come in and please pay for the ring so he could "hit his sales numbers", Wow. When my wife and I got back into town a few days before our anniversary we went to the store to find out that the ring was not complete(i have now a 3 piece ring instead of a 1 ring and they had billed my kay account a week before as to "hit the numbers" for the previous month. I had not given the store my account info or my card as I had not got it by the first visit. I had made the deposit on separate card. So not only is the ring not done, I've been billed without permission and its now 3 days until the anniversary date I had planned, bill is now not available. This i where its gets real bad. I had gone back to the store 3 time, made multiple calls and every time no Bill and no one else can help because he is the manager. I call the customer service department to try to get some corporate help and they set me up to have my deposit refunded until the ring is completed. Now as we have moved into our new home and low and behold I get a phone call from kay stating my bill is late. Ive had this ring for 2 weeks. How can my bill be late? I explain the situation to the person on the phone and all they can say is, if you have the ring(s) you owe us. I have yet to receive the first bill. I come to find out that the earlier refund was put back on my kay card a week later again without my permission! This goes on for weeks with an inability to get the ring finished or any customer satisfaction. After telling the my sad story to multiple people in the kay corp customer service department I and my wife have had enough of this lack of caring. I have since payed my bill in full and have no response from them. I guess they have their money and another dissatisfied customer. As I am in the customer service business myself i understand what it means to be fair, this is anything but that, just terrible. I cant tell you where you should go to buy your jewelry, but after spending $7800 on 3 rings and 2 watches, I can tell you dont go here! I wish I would have looked at the reviews first. read more

So i decided to go shopping at Kay Jewelers in Palm Desert for mothers day, this obviously was the worst choice ever. My boyfriend surprised me and took me to Kay Jewelers on Christmas Eve to pick out an engagement ring!! I was very pleased with the selection and vast knowledge our sales person had. Once we purchased the engagement ring, we received a "Santa Bucks" gift card in the amount of $700, which was an unexpected surprise. My now, fiance, and I have not only got the engagement ring there, but we will also be purchasing our wedding bands there as well. They offer layaway and credit. The store was clean and well stocked. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The only down fall was when I went back to take my ring in to get sized, they quoted two weeks to get it back. I went to the mall looking for a place to engrave a bracelet for my anniversary coming up. I hit every spot at the mall and I just kept getting a "no we wont be able to do this" until I went to Kay jewelers. They said they were able to help me out and engrave the bracelet, I was relieved. Thankful I am always prepared and do things ahead of time because they ended up calling me after the promise date to tell me they couldn't do it. I gave them this bracelet 2 months in advance to prepare, the lady said it would be done 02/12/17 (this being the promise date) I get a call 2/17/17 that they wont be able to do this for me. I believe that is not okay and very unprofessional. I only had two weeks to figure out what I was going to do before my anniversary and that was the last thing I wanted to do, panic. When I go to pick up the bracelet, yes they were sorry but did nothing for me to want to come back. Awful customer service. I took my wedding ring in for repair and after checking they told me it was not a diamond but a cz. I was told 3 different times I had a cz. Finally they did one last test and confirmed I had a diamond. NO KIDDING...I have hhad a diamond for over 20 years. No other jeweler has ever mistaken it for a cz. And no one at Kay Jewelers thought to apologize for the undue stress and concern that caused me. No kiss for Kay......just a kiss off by the staff. read more

Kay's does not honor the contracts they sell for lifetime replacement of watch battery's. They make numerous excuses like, have to send it out and it will take 6 weeks to get the watch back or there is no one in the shop right now to do the change. I dropped by Kay Jewellers in Palm Desert the evening of January 24 to get the battery in my watch changed as part of the lifetime battery replacement warranty I had purchased for this watch from a Florida Kay Jewellers two years earlier. Upon reviewing my paperwork, Brandon, the assistant manager, advised that I had not purchased a lifetime battery replacement on this watch and that I had only purchased a one time battery change. I explained the situation to him and showed him some other paperwork, at which point Branson indicated that the original salesperson appeared to have made an error in how he rung up my original battery invoice. Branson replaced my battery at no cost and also provided the phone number for their head office. He advised me to phone head office the next day and explain the situation so that they could rectify it in their main database. After that is done, Brandon advised that he would re-issue the appropriate paperwork so I would not have this issue again. I really appreciated Brandon's customer service. I already buy all my battery replacements from Kay. This level of service ensures that I will continue to do so. read more
