Kaya's Kitchen has been serving delicious plant-based cuisine in Belmar for 19 years now (BTW, eatery named after owner's child was born). They obviously are doing something right. We first ate at Kaya's when this eatery was in another (smaller) location a few blocks away. We have been back a number of times over the years and always have been very pleased with the food. The only reason we do not dine here more often is that we are not vegans or vegetarians. But guess what? You do not need red meat or white meat or seafood for protein. Seitan, tempeh, tofu, lentils, beans, etc. can provide plenty of protein. Kaya's does a lot of take-out orders as well as dine-in. If you choose to dine in, you may want to bring your own bottle of wine. The ambiance is pleasant, cosy. Last evening, Tess was our friendly and very attentive server. We started with BBQ Seitan ribs, $13, yummy and such a big portion. Then, for entrees we had 3 tacos with ground tempeh, $16. and Garlic Sesame Sensation, $21 plus $3 to add tempeh. Everything very delicious and so much food that we had to take some home and had no room for dessert. Go once and I will bet that you will return.

Been wanting to try Kaya's Kitchen for a while and went with a friend that has vegan and gluten free dietary preferences. I didn't love the food especially for the price point. We tried the Buffalo soldier wings and the coconut curry rice. It wasn't bad and tasted home cooked. Neither dishes were super inventive and could have been made at home... it was too home cooked tasting. Sandwich or burger options might be better, would try again. The people that worked there were friendly. The people next to us got the Turkish Delight platter and that looked amazing. The interior was a bit tired looking. Update- my friend and I got a touch of food poisoning from this food. Tho it didn't taste off at the time.

This oyster po boy sandwich was 100000% AMAZING! Definitely the best vegan oyster po boy sandwich I ever had- super filling and the mushrooms were crunch but not too hard! Flavor was amazing! Only reason why I gave this meal 4 stars is bc the size of potato salad was OK- nothing great but was pretty decent. Can't wait to come back and try other things! And prices are reasonable!

My food was delicious if maybe a little too spicy for me but I took it home and finished the rest later. The staff was very quick and kind and accommodating. The whole vibe of the restaurant was homey and cozy and they were definitely busy but I don't think we had to wait long for our food to arrive.

Always amazing. Also did their Thanksgiving Dinner take out and it was awesome. Never disappointed with Kaya's!

This was our first time since employees took over from long-time owners Michael and Bobby and slightly changed the name to Clementeam. Ambiance is toned down from what it had been. Service is still excellent. Food is perhaps better than ever. We started with a special salad of greens and fruit with six blackened shrimp. Yummy. Then for entrees we had Blackened Salmon and Seafood Jambalaya. Superb. I said, "Compliments to the chef!"

Every restaurant has a bad night and we just happened to experience this last night. To start, we shared a Calamari Appetizer (special) that was cooked to perfection. The calamari was crispy, as requested, and came with a spicy sauce accented with crumbled bleu cheese. The bread was also excellent. Entrees consisted of Crab Cakes, Grilled Blackened Tuna and the Catfish Special. Here is where things went downhill - the crab cakes were noticeably dark and the mashed potatoes were underwhelming. The tuna was not medium rare, as requested and was also quite dark. While two of the sides were piping hot and quite tasty (jambalaya with andouille sausage and corn maque choux), the hush puppies looked like black golf balls. The blackened catfish was delicious and the plating was very nice. What happened? Old oil for some of the preparation? New help in the kitchen? I don't know but it needs to be looked into. Our server, JP, was excellent and attentive and conveyed our concerns to the kitchen. That said, we will return in the future as I believe this was a "one off". The decor has been improved a bit since our visit in February, but is still miss the old vibe.

When I walked into the restaurant, there were 6 people standing ahead of us at the hostess stand. Tables were emptying out but no one even acknowledged our existence for - no exaggeration- 15 minutes. We made conversation with the people around us that it was almost comical that no one even said they'd be with us in a moment. It was odd and we almost left and walked to The Buttered Biscuit down the street, but we stuck it out. Once we were seated we were given a tiny placard to scan the menu with our phones. Service after being seated was surprisingly consistent after our long wait time to be seated with no acknowledgment from staff. I have a gluten allergy and the online menu did not have specific information showing what was GF or GFA. When I asked the sever about it she rattled off some GF options but of course I couldn't remember all of them, having them marked on the menu would be so helpful. I ordered the Birria Omelette but chose to have the tortilla strips on the side since they were in a shared fryer. The dressing for the side salad was light and tangy. The omelette was supposed to be French style but wasn't creamy in the middle. Birria meat was tender and kind of overwhelmed the overall taste of the omelette. I also had an iced decaf mocha latte and it was good, not too sweet and pretty much coffee flavored chocolate milk. My dining companion had the classic French toast, which looked delicious and he really enjoyed it but I didn't taste it because "gluten." Ambiance is really nice, tables are well spaced and the restaurant is well decorated. Not sure if I'll be back but glad I tried it!
