I had mentioned I preferred extra gravy for my dish, and she made sure my lentil loaf had an abundance of gravy. Everything was exceptional, and it was obviously made with care and love in their kitchen. Their desserts are not made in-house, like their entrees, but they do curate them from a wonderful vegan bakery. From being warmly greeted, seeing familiar classics and new additions, everything was outstanding. The prices are still affordable and in today's economy, a stellar value.

Maybe it was an off night for both the wait staff and the kitchen crew, as we will go back again maybe closer to summer.

The omelette was supposed to be French style but wasn't creamy in the middle. Birria meat was tender and kind of overwhelmed the overall taste of the omelette. I also had an iced decaf mocha latte and it was good, not too sweet and pretty much coffee flavored chocolate milk. My dining companion had the classic French toast, which looked delicious and he really enjoyed it but I didn't taste it because "gluten." I took my husband to the Jersey Shore to see where I grew up and it so happened that it was Valentine's Day weekend. I found Clementine's on the internet since everything is different since I moved away. I saw that Clementine's is Cajun/Creole cuisine and as my husband is from Louisiana, I thought it would be fun to take him there. I was interested to see what he thought of our dinner. I have been lucky enough to eat NOLA style regularly as he is a wonderful cook and I will say that Clementine's got a thumbs up from both of us. We started with the stuffed portabella mushroom that was delicious. He ordered a special which was a jumbalaya type dish with pasta and I had my favorite, etouffee with crawfish and shrimp. Both tasted wonderful. We rounded out the night with dessert which neither of us usually order but so glad we did, the Ooey gooey buttery pound cake is to die for. Exquisite dinner on Saturday, July 23! My husband and I both had specials that evening, a blackened shrimp over mushroom risotto and a grilled sea bass over pineapple. We shared both -- perfectly prepared and delicious. The sea bass simply melted in your mouth, delicate flavor that became rich with the sweetness of the pineapple. The spicy shrimp were a perfect combination with the rich risotto. Our server, Danielle, was terrific -- friendly and attentive, and other servers as well as the owner, Michael, came by our table to greet us and make sure we were well taken care of, which we were. We also appreciated that other diners there seemed to be regulars, quiet and sophisticated clientele who were polite in keeping the noise level in the small restaurant at a minimum. We have been there twice already during this week. We brought family and friends on Monday evening, and then we had a Rowan college reunion there on Thursday evening with our college roommates from over 20 years ago. A couple of our friends have never been to this restaurant, and they LOVED it!!!! The ambiance, the staff, the food, everything is always exceptional! We are going again tonight. The food was excellent. I ate every morsel upon my plate, as did every guest at our table. Our waitress, Maria, was very attentive and sweet. Unfortunately, I have food allergies which restrict my dining out. Both Maria and the chef were able to guide me in choosing my entree and seemed genuinely concerned that I enjoyed it! My entree was the blackened catfish . Excellent!! My husband enjoyed the grilled salmon w/ jambalaya rice. Also excellent! The BYOB was an added bonus that kept the bill reasonable . We have eaten at Clementines many, many times. It is one of our favorites!!! Today was our first time having breakfast there. Absolutely delicious!!! My husband had the chicken and waffles and I had an omlette, (which was gigantic), accompanied with bacon, potatoes and whole wheat toast. All so yummy!! The staff are always pleasant and accommodating. We will be back again the end of this week for a birthday celebration to have lunch. Can't wait!! We went to Clementeam on their first night. You'd expect that there might be opening night issues. Not so! Everything was perfect and delicious. We were greeted warmly by JP when we arrived. Beatriz was our server, and she is awesome! I had the blackened catfish, and it was exactly as it's always been - outstandingly delicious! I have now visited this beautiful restaurant 4 times. Each time the food was great, the service outstanding. I hesitated to give this review as it will make the restaurant more popular and thus my opportunity to get a reservation that much harder. But, I can't keep a great thing a secret as that is just not right. Oh, you have to try their special desert-gooey cake. The hostesses were incredibly friendly and welcoming, both at the front and in the back. Service throughout the meal was definitely on the slower side, although our waiter was pleasant and polite. One small thing that bothered me: when I ordered bottled water, the glasses appeared to be taken from a neighboring table that had been sitting there. They may have been perfectly clean and unused, but psychologically I'd rather receive fresh glasses. Not a huge issue, just something I noticed. Now for the food. The crab cake was excellent - easily the highlight of my meal. My friend ordered oysters, and I tried one as well. They were fresh and delicious. For my entree, I asked for a salad recommendation and was steered toward the peach salad. Unfortunately, this was a miss. The peaches were hard and unripe, and the dressing was so vinegar-heavy that I found it nearly impossible to eat. My friend was hungry and less picky than I am, so he ended up finishing it. After that interaction, though, it felt like he disappeared for much of the evening, and we had to flag him down to get a dessert menu. Ironically, I decided not to follow his recommendation this time and ordered the chocolate cake instead. Great decision. It was absolutely delicious and ended up being another highlight of the meal. Have you ever had one of those experiences where every recommendation is somehow the wrong one for you? It happens. This is a beachfront restaurant, and maybe the salad was just an off day. The only reason I'm mentioning it is to save someone else from ordering that particular salad if the kitchen is preparing it the same way. Overall: friendly staff, great location, excellent crab cake, fresh oysters, delicious chocolate cake, decent drinks, but slow service and a disappointing peach salad. I'd definitely return - I'd just skip the salad next time.
