Delicious food, good food portion, and reasonable prices! We got breakfast there, Big Boy breakfast and Ahi and Eggs, both came with rice. They were delicious but I loved my ahi meal with a sweet sauce that was on top. There's no sitting area at Kaya, just a bench outside, so either you take it to go or gobble it up out front. We also bought spam musubi and mochi cakes from the market, those were good too. Wish we had more time to try out their other dishes. I guess we'll have to come back to Hawaii! read more

This is truly a hidden gem. While staying across the street we sauntered over to grab some quick supplies. From the street it doesn't look like much. But once you're in there it really opens up. You have everything you need and nothing you don't here. The plates were absurdly reasonable. And I'm not gonna lie, I didn't expect anything crazy, but OMGod did they exceed expectations. The ahi omelette was a true experience. The ahi was cooked to perfection and truly just worked. With ahi and kalua pig I feel like it can be very gimmicky and just gets shoehorned into a lot of dishes for people on vacation. But this was a flavor profile that I was not prepared for. But it was perfectly moist and the wasabi aioli really took it to the next level like Electric Avenue. Finding a sub $15 plate in Hawaii is a very real challenge, heck Burger King is charging airport prices at this point. But Kaya's is a place for the people. Kaya's is the hero the people deserve. So shoutout to Kaya's for bringing the flavor to the people at a reasonable price point. 10/10 would return. read more

Give that a 1, also my wife and 6 other family members had the loco moco,, ahi and eggs,,chopped steak!! Surf and turf!! Roast pork,,, and a big boy breakfast,, let me tell you you burnt!! Eggs!! The teri musubi is cooked in the sauce almost til glazed, with a delicious shoyu-sugar flavor that is nostalgic and centering. Also, keep an eye out for the dry aku ziploc bags!! It is so ono!!! K, whatevah I say is not going do justice for how good the food is here. Started off by snacking on the smoked marlin. I thought I was going to only have 1, but I thought wrong. I finished the whole thing while waiting for the food came out. It was seasoned in shoyu and had some chili pepper flakes on top, was just right, That in itself is 5 stars, I would drive all the way from town to buy this on a regular basis. We ordered the furikake garlic chicken and the garlic shrimp plate. For me the garlic shrimp was okay, but then again I love my shrimp spicy. Let me tell you how good the furikake garlic chicken was, i will say this throughout the meal my wife was taking my chicken, it was that good. This is definitely some place that I will go back to on a regular basis. Also got a lot of parking on the side of the building. 2 picnic tables and a bench on the side, and if there isn't space to eat you can always go to the beach nearby and watch the waves while enjoying your meal. read more

Hubby and I ordered a special "Korean garlic chicken wings". Dry, tasted nothing remotely Korean nor garlic. Tasted like something cooked days before and reheated. Alot of food for $8.95. 6 or so wings, rice, Mac salad, pickled something that actually was the best part of the whole meal but only about 1 oz worth. Service was meh at best. We have been in Hawaii for over a week now and have spent time on the Big Island and Oahu. Out of all of the restaurants and stalls we've tried, this has been by far the best meal we had. The garlic miso chicken was so delicious, the butter mochi is a lovely treat, and the spam musubi is just what you want out of a snack. You can tell that the recipes are authentic and the ingredients are great quality. The shop/kitchen are also in a beautiful area so you can enjoy the natural beauty of Hawaii while enjoying a lovely meal. Hands down the best we've had in Hawaii and we've been here for 4 days! The surf and turf plate with the spicy garlic shrimp was DELICIOUS! Everything was great, the steak, shrimp, rice and the best macaroni salad I've had thus far! The price was definitely great for the portions received. It's a cute store that offers local products and to add on to the great experience, we chatted with the owner while we waited for our food (short wait!) who was a delightful lady who even gifted us a local pastry after mentioning we were celebrating our honeymoon. Oh my this place is so delicious. I had the ahi tuna w chili. So so good! I also enjoyed the Mac salad, cucumber and butter and chocolate mochi. I wish I could eat here every day. The prices and portion sizes were perfect. The service was great- I ordered 8 meals and 10 mochi and it was done in a shorter time than quoted. They actually called me on my phone to let me know it was ready and we had just driven into their lot and I thought we might have to wait but it was ready to go. They have some home cooked meals that were delicious. My husband and I got a pork loco moco and the furrikake garlic chicken plates with fried rice and it was sooo good! Big portions and tons of flavor. We also tried their butter mochi which was also delicious. If you have time, stop by. They have outdoor seating if you want to stay and eat also have some parking spots out front. Also if you're looking for Thai or Vietnamese food, theres 2 food trucks on the side of the store.
