We came at around 7:15 and there were only 2 other parties there so not bad. Mandoo- crispy and yummy as expected. Ribeye BbQ - WARNING! Plate is massive! They are not shine with their portion size. For $22 that is a steal! For once the meat portion is bigger than the rice! My husband and I shared 1 entree and 1 appetizer and we were stuffed, actually couldn't finish the whole thing. The owner? (Cashier lady) was very nice and welcoming. Not sure if we will ever end up back here but definitely recommend and would come back. This is one of the few eateries that opens on Sundays for lunch and dinner in the vicinity. This place also serves local, Korean food. My son ate all of his meat jun with rice. He seemed perfectly fine with his meal. My husband ordered their bi bim bap which tasted fairly good when all the ingredients, including raw, shredded purple cabbage, sesame seed oil, and kochujang sauce were mixed together. Unfortunately, fresh, orange colored egg yolk wasn't runny. The orange colored egg yolk didn't satisfy my palate. I ordered their kim chee fried rice because out of all the photos I saw in the restaurant, this dish popped right out and looked very appealing. My husband and I agreed that this entree was super spicy. There was some type of yellow, melted topping in the middle that didn't go well with this dish. Sprinkled furikake didn't jive well and threw off my taste buds. Orange colored egg yolk lacked the runny effect and did not appeal to my palate. This is the first place that didn't have chopsticks. My husband asked for chopsticks on my behalf because he knows I like to use them whenever possible. Instead, I kindly asked the worker for a spoon. There's only forks, knives and spoons. Workers were very courteous. Interior design has a variety of colors with a few tables and seats. Free, limited parking in the small lot. read more

Literally the WORST Korean bbq plate lunch I've ever had. The only redeeming thing about it was the kalbi was tasty. Otherwise it was terrible. We got the mixed kalbi and meat jun plate which was ~$20 before tip. The meat jun was tough and cold like it had been precooked earlier and barely warmed up. The veggies were the worst. I should have known something was off when the ban Chan wasn't on display and I didn't get to choose my sides. What I got served was watery, unseasoned cold canned corn. Bland kim chee (most likely from Costco, definitely not homemade or good quality) and plain Mac salad. As in, no mayo, salt or pepper, just plain noodles with a few shreds of carrots. The kalbi was bbq'd outside fresh upon ordering and the quality of the meat was good and the seasoning was also on point. Service was very nice and friendly which is why I think the reviews are so good bc there's no way the high reviews are based on food. As a local, I get irritated when I get caught in tourist traps like this so I'm sharing this review not to harm this nice small business but they really need to try harder. read more

Where to start? Korean BBQ at its best! Service was fast, friendly and food was awesome. Portions are generous and the larger plates can definitely feed two. We tried the Bulgogi, spicy pork, bbq chicken, garlic shrimp & short ribs. Everything was hot, tasty and filling. Rice was perfectly cooked. We were headed back to Waikiki from the Polynesian Culture Center and saw the sign for some Korean food. It was also raining so it was perfect to stop to grab some dinner. It is a small place that has a grilling tent out on the parking lot. That is where they grill their meats that give the perfect chargrilled flavor. Their kalbi was good with not too much fat but a lot of meat and the chicken was super moist and Smokey. It came with corn (from the can), macaroni (a bit oily) and kimchee (nice and spicy and fresh). Very tasty little place! The owner was also super interesting. Doesn't seem too friendly but super friendly haha. Meaning, he didn't smile but was very kind and checked in on each table. So don't be afraid to talk to him! He said he was from LA~ Most food items came in to go boxes but if you order soup, that came in a huge bowl (unless you specifically ask for it to go). This was the first place we went to on our trip. I ordered the bibmbap and it was great. The sauce was spicy, so go easy if you're not a spice queen. The kimchi rice was something out of this world! It was full of flavor, moist, and the price point was incredible. $7 for a huge portion of kimchi rice. We had so much rice and used it for the next day to make rice and eggs. Just discovered the new Hau'ula BBQ. Well, I actually ate at this establishment 20 years ago - just once, cause I never went back. But I recently heard the restaurant was under new ownership and I decided to give the new guys a chance. While I've only tried the chicken plate, so far, I can report that the portioning was huge. The chicken, cooked outside, over traditional natural charcoal, was done perfectly - moist & tender. But it was the serving size that was especially impressive. I couldn't eat it all - and that's a first for me. I expect the new owner/operators of this small boutique restaurant, found in the heart of downtown Hau'ula, will be challenged to keep up to demand, once the locals try this community's newest eatery. read more

Traveling the North Shore we stopped at this little restaurant. I had the BEST kimchi soup ever!! Nice large portion--so fresh and the perfect amount of seasoning. My husband had the barbecue chicken plate-- wonderfully tangy and again great portion! Highly recommend! The owner was so delightful. She sat and chatted with us while we ate. The food is delicious and freshly prepared on an open grill near the highway in front of the restaurant. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is quaint but serves good food and you get a good amount for the price. My family always orders the kalbi, bbq chicken and shrimp. My husband especially likes the Kim chee. My husband and I were lured in from the street because the bbq grill was enticing! The man doing the bbq-ing offered us samples of the bbq pork and we couldn't resist ordering after that. I got the bbq pork plate, it came with corn and rice and a salad and my husband got the kalbi ribs. It had rice and mac salad! His plate was so friggin big the lid wouldn't shut. Yum! My husband found this place and decided we'd check it out tonight. It's a little hole in the wall (across the street from North Shore Taco) but don't let that deter you.
