    Order before seating
    Allen N.

Had brunch at Boots & Kimo's Homestyle Kitchen in Kailua for the first time since they moved to their new location. I wasn't sure what to expect and just wanted to see what, if anything, had changed. One noticeable difference is the ordering process. You place your order outside before being seated, and payment is taken upfront. There's a sign explaining this is due to staffing shortages. It's a bit different from the traditional sit-down experience, but it does make the process more efficient once you're inside. I ordered the Maui Original Portuguese sausage omelette with fried rice, and it was excellent. The omelette had a great balance of Portuguese sausage and overall flavor. Really enjoyed my meal.

Kalbi ribs - two eggs with white rice- you can sub with hash brown or fried rice as well

The staff here are amazing - love the family feel here!! Rhoda - Sandra and Aury make us feel so special!! Local restaurant totally taking care!! The service is top notch. Line up- make order at the door- pay then seat. What a concept!! The food comes out quick and hot. I get my usual- pulehu ribs - so tasty- has onions and mushrooms. With poached eggs and crispy hash browns Hubby usually gets the seafood omelette- they make it just the way he likes it- not many places make them this well. This time he kalbi ribs POG!! Passion orange guava juice is a must. Casual restaurant with football decor!! Jerseys - helmets- cereal boxes, etc!! Sweet Bread French toast with Mac nut sauce!!! people try to replicate, but- this sauce is one of a kind Come support local!! Best breakie place ever!!

I visited Oahu for this first time and the staff at our hotel highly recommended this spot and I'm super thankful they did. Their macadamia nut pancakes definitely live up to the hype. They are not overly sweet, they are fluffy perfection! I will be thinking about them until my next trip. Although this location has a staff shortage their service is nothing short of amazing. They are quick, friendly, and attentive. Highly recommended checking them out!

Been here plenty of times in the past, last time I came was about two years ago. This time waited in line for about 20 mins. Currently they are taking orders outside as you wait in line, so make sure to check out the menu which is available outside for you to see. They then give you your reciept and you take it inside and pay before you are seated. Not sure how I like this as we tipped before we even got our service. Service however was okay, food came pretty quick since the ordered has been placed, server came in to check on us once to refill water. We ordered Hawaiian style Kalbi Ribs, cheeseburger(a little dry) , portuguese sausage breakfast (this was okay), macadamia nut pancakes( THIS IS ALWAYS GOOD) and french toast (this was ok) Overall the food was good.

We couldn't wait for the photo but the best banana pancake macnut sauce on the island

Hands down the best banana pancakes with Mac nut cream - wish I could bottle that sauce and take it home! The omelets have a cheese mixed in that makes them creamy and extra savory! Personally I secretly hope for the AFC side and I got it!!! go Colts

A bit of a disappointment after being excited to come here for years. An automatic surcharge of 18% for parties of 6 or more is added. Which is FINE, but I wasn't informed or aware until after I was rushed through this awkward pay before you sit down and eat process. I had a 1 year old who sat on my lap and a 3 year old sitting on my husband's lap who didn't eat anything. They were counted as #5 and #6. The "how much would you like to tip?" screen popped up and I blindly selected 18% like a good human being before even seeing what I paid for. It also would have been cool to know that they provide powdered coffee creamer for the coffee. So I'm miffed I tipped $40 on a mediocre sugar bomb of a breakfast.

Be aware that there's almost always a long line unless you come early! You order before being seated, so it helps to look at the menu ahead of time. They probably have the best macadamia nut pancakes ever. Our family makes it a point to stop by every time we visit. The pancakes are creamy, subtly sweet, and SO delicious. We also ordered the steak lunch, which comes with mac salad, fried rice, and steak. It's a comforting meal with generous portions. Definitely a favorite for us!

I'd been wanting to try this spot for years and, after finally going, I thought the place was fine. There's typically a long queue to dine at this place and I experienced that, although the line moved relatively fast and I only waited for about 10-12 minutes. It's also a bit of an odd process since you order your food (and pay the tip!) before you sit down. Their signature item is the Macadamia Nut Pancakes. We ordered the version with blueberries, which are then covered in a macadamia nut sauce. The pancakes themselves are basic and mediocre, but it's really the sauce (which is delicious) that makes it stand out. I also tried the Huelo Paniolo, which is an omelette with corned beef - this was just okay...they seemed to use canned corned beef. The service wasn't all that great and lacked the aloha spirit one might expect...some staff were friendlier than others, but overall it was just okay. The ambiance is very standard. This place is probably okay if you're looking for a restaurant with decent breakfast options and you are already staying in the area...if you're coming from Waikiki, however, I'd say it may not be worth the drive.

Long story short, they are famous for a reason! YUM. Short story long, you HAVE TO go eat here if you like macadamia nuts, their Mac nut sauce is so on point it's hard for me to even put into words.. I would go as far as to say it's an experience so gooooo experience it! LOL The famous Macadamia nuts sauce is a beautiful creamy, gently sweet, yet undeniably flavorful moment that you will definitely crave once you leave because it is truly so satisfying. Honestly I do not even like pancakes but I would never turn down Boots & Kimos pancakes, for years boots and ki's (as we call it in my family) was the only place I would even eat pancakes and to this day honestly I still can't think of another place I've enjoyed pancakes at, so that should tell you something. I am a waffle girl and although I have been sharing the full stack with family for years recently I stepped out of my comfort zone and did what I've been saying I was gonna do for the longest and got the waffle topped with Mac nut sauce and strawberries and my my my how I've been holding myself back, somehow they managed to keep the waffle crispy and fluffy even under all that sauce, truly a masterpiece that I will recommend over and over. I also highly recommend the shrimp Alfredo omelette with crispy hash browns: unique, flavorful and filling! The service is good but this is not a place you're really waited on; you order and pay before you ever see your seat and from there the food is dropped off and you may get checked up on but mostly are left alone to enjoy your meal. In other words the vibe is "the food will speak for itself" haha Overall though the staff is friendly and helpful if needed. They moved a while back so now located in enchanted lakes in a great size location with sportsy decor and very much a tourist hub but make no mistake they are famous for a reason! Thank you Boots & Kimo's Homestyle Kitchen for serving my ohana all these years and for keeping that beautiful Macadamia nut sauce the same, pls never change!

Came to back to a local favorite just for the chocolate chip macadamia nut pancakes - always a hit!! I will say, the breakfast plates have gotten a bit pricey HOWEVER the portions are large enough to justify in my opinion. Giving a 4/5 just because the line has been getting SO long so get there early if you can! The staff has figured out the best way to manage the line and making sure people get in and out efficiently and happily. The inside of the restaurant is filled with sports memorabilia and has some TCG for sale! Super cool spot and will be back again :)

We usually drop in for some excellent Macadamia Nut Pancakes every year so this review is to provided an updated menu and prices. Boots and Kimo moved several years ago so the restaurant vibe is a bit different. Due to a shortage of staff, you line up to the right of the restaurant door (facing the restaurant) and someone comes out to take your order before being seated. This is a new process. There was a ruder younger male inside the door who told us we had to wait outside to be seated and then came out and rudely told us to move to the right. In spite of an obnoxious and rude employee we figured out the process and enjoyed our meal. The person who took our order and seated was very nice, definitely the Aloha spirit. We ate family style and ordered macadamia nut pancakes which as good as the first time we ate at Boots and Kimo. We also ordered fish and chips which were yummy and some Mochiko chicken (a little on the drier side) that came with some tasty Mac salad. We will drop in again during our next trip to gay sone macadamia nut pancakes which have been excellent every year. The pancakes are fluffy and a slight chewiness and the best macadamia nut pancake sauce (not really a syrup which is good). The restaurant is in a bigger mall so there is ample parking. The food is good, especially the pancakes. The location is a little further out but worth the drive. I would have given them 4 stars but the guy inside the front door was just unfriendly and rude. Stop by and enjoy.

Amazing food!!! Definitely a unique experience as this is one of the few places in Hawaii where you order outside the restaurant and pay before you're seated - kind of like how they do in Japan. Great food overall! I got their signature kalbi breakfast and there's a reason that it's one of their staples. Super fulfilling and tasteful! A lot of tourists and locals come here so it definitely comes highly recommended

Having gone carnivore about 19 months ago to reverse decades of chronic health issues, we rarely eat out anymore because it's hard to find our food or it's just so dang difficult ordering... "Sorry, you still gotta pay for the rice and veg". "What? No starch, well, I can give you green salad or a side of broccoli" NO NO NO. That kind of thing. Was pleasantly surprised Boots and Kimo don't play that game! Wish more restaurants would update their menus for people like us... Ala Carte please all you restaurant owners!! They really have quite the efficient system here. You order outside the door with the lovely friendly gal (shoot don't remember her name!), then you walk inside and pay at the window, then to your table. The coffee and waters came shortly after we sat and the food came within about 10 minutes or so. We each got eggs and pulehu ribs and the 3 of us shared a side of bacon and an order of the kalbi ribs (total treat cheat as we RARELY eat ANYTHING with sugar/soy etc). Bacon was crispy-YAY. It was all so good. Aside from those sugary ONOlishioso ribs, the perfect meal for us! Next time we'll skip the kalbi and add more bacon. The only things I would ding them on is the price of the side of eggs, and tipping. Somehow gotta figure out how to do tipping after the service! Not gonna change review stars for egg price & tip situation ... Just a note & suggestion to the owner.

Deliciously hot meal and filling! Fried Rice, Kalbi (Marinated Meat), and Hawaiian Style Pulehu Ribs!

Was all confused because signs said "the Garden to your left, Boardroom to the right", so we kind of passed the entrance, going around the corner, and noticed that there wasn't another entrance on the other side, and that's when we figured the short wooden sliding gate was the entrance lol as you walk in, it's an outdoor establishment, lots of seats everywhere. With this yelp elite experience, we got to have a pizza and a dole whip. They have a menu posted up, and you order at the truck. They don't start serving pizza till 11, so we left cuz we was too early, and wanted to take advantage of our yelp perk, so went to go run errands and came back around 2PM ish. We got a pepperoni pizza, vanilla dole whip, and I ordered a maitai. Pizza was good. Dole whip was good, and Maitai was good. Everything was good! I loved that we got to make our way here to take advantage of my yelp elite perk because if wasn't for this yelp event, on any other normal day, we would just pass this place, not even knowing what this place has to offer! One thing about this place is that it's hotttt, if u go in the day. And for me, alcohol and hotness does not go together lol Since they open till 9, I would think it's probably cooler when sun is down. Love pet friendly places. We got to bring our jellybean with us. Cool spot to chill, have a few. Shout out to Eric for taking care of us. Awesome customer service. Only had him working all morning. Go check this place out. Don't forget to tip :)
