This is the second time dining here and the service is SUPBERB. Our server was very attentive to our party. We ordered the Colin's Classic Prixe Fix menu which include all the popular dishes. We did get a their noodles as well. There was 12 of us in our party and it was still alot of food. Ambiance is casual but still classy. There is a balcony sitting area that overlooks the water. I'm a huge fan of the Side Street Inn locations in town so I was excited to try this place in Ewa Beach since it's close to home. Located in Wai Kai, we came here on a weeknight with friends visiting from out of town. Even though there were plenty of empty tables, the hostess told us there would be a 30 minute (minimum) wait, so we decided to eat at the bar. We were not prepared for what happened next. As this place is located near the water, there were thousands (not kidding) of little gnats flying all around us. The bartender remade my drink three times and even after covering it with a napkin, somehow the gnats still got into the drink. We spent most of our time trying to shoo them away from our face. It took them a while (about 15 minutes and many apologies later) to finally close the windows and doors. I am not sure why they did not do this sooner as the staff let us know this was a major issue during the rainy seasons. The service was great, they comped some of our bill after we told them we'd just take the food to go. We had already ordered and did not want to cancel the entire order. Needless to say, we will probably not return as it was not a great experience. They need to do something to keep the bugs away during the rainy/stormy seasons. Giving this place three stars as the food was awesome. Thank goodness there were no bugs in our to-go containers when we got home. The fried rice, pork chops, and fried chicken were amazing. The House Fried Rice had a piece of bacon in each bite. And the Chinese chicken salad was perfect to add veggies to the meal! We had some garlic fries with the meal and since everything was in large portions it went well together! The musician they featured played soft Hawaiian music and added to the ambience there. As we were having an early dinner we got lots of attention from the wait staff. We enjoyed the ocean views, the happy atmosphere and the sun about to set when we left. We went here for a belated Valentines dinner when they had available reservations. The restaurant is located at Wai Kai next to the man made lagoon which is has the beach and ocean on the other side. Given the choice of inside or outside we decide on lanai outside. The atmosphere was so pleasant and relaxing, beautiful views. The Pork Chops were recommended by a friend so we gave them a try. With this order you receive 3 pork chops cut into smaller pieces. The pork was very Ono, although slightly over cooked. There was enough meat for four people. No sides come with it so you need to order separately. We ordered the fried rice which was very tasty with veggies, bacon, sausage. There was enough rice for six people. There was so much extra food it two to go containers. The server was great, very pleasant and friendly and took good care of us. I'd invite a couple next time to share our meal with. read more

First time at this "SideStreet" location and a little disappointed in several things. We had online reservations which obviously weren't looked at and taken in to consideration? The hostess started to walk our party towards the outside seats. We settled inside and noticed the chairs were dirty with dark spots. First impressions are important and this did not make us happy. Really think since the restaurant doesn't open until 4 pm they could spot clean them? Waitress was nice and our food was delicious as usual. Only question we had were about the chicken wings. Asked if it was spicy which were told no but after a couple of bites- it was definitely coated with some kind of hot spices. Very disappointed. When my sister used to live in town and we would visit, she would take us to Side Street Inn every time. Now that she lives in the burbs, it's a bit of a trek. I saw that Hali'a had recently opened up near her, so we ordered takeout for dinner one night. We had: -"The Works" Fried Rice (signature fried rice with kim chee and lup cheong) - the signature fried rice already has bacon, Portuguese sausage, and char siu in it, so if you get "The Works", it'll be extra meaty. I didn't love the char siu in it. It was a bit dry and had this smoky flavor I didn't care for -Side Street inn's Famous Pan-Fried Pork Chops - I'm normally not a pork chop gal but I will eat a fried pork chop because when done correctly, it is juicy. Unfortunately, this one hit the mark and again, was a bit dry. I'm sensing a theme with their pork items -Signature Garlic Chicken (special marinated fried chicken dipped in a sweet shoyu garlic sauce) - this is just as good as I remember it was a the original Side Street Inn. It was flavorful and perfectly fried. All the dishes are huge and are all family-style. It was more than enough food for four adults + two kids, with a lot of leftovers the next day. Visited this place for the first time after flying in from the mainland. Met up some family here for dinner. We couldn't really see much since it was dark. But before heading here, we did check the menu on Yelp. I'm sure this place is beautiful during the day, since it is located on the waterfront. The restaurant has a beach view, wish I had seen it during the day time. But this was definitely a change of pace for us. Since we don't get to see oceans or beaches from where we live. My family went ahead and ordered for us since this was our first time there. We were greeted by friendly staff, that did offer us some drinks other than water. Our family ordered the Colin's Classic Prix Fixe meal, which feeds 4 to 5 guests. The Prix Fixe meal offers: Edamame, Farmer's Salad (it had shrimp in it), their signature Fried Rice (this had Portuguese Sausage and Char Sui - yummy!), Garlic Fried Chicken (very flavorful), Pan Fried Pork Chops (this was cut up already, so convenient!) and last but definitely not least; Sizzling Boneless Kalbi Beef with kimchee. They also ordered some appetizers, Chinese-Style Crispy Roast Pork (so good!) and some Ahi Poke (it's been a hot minute since we've had fresh poke and it was delicious!). We were not expecting such a huge meal to be offered to us that evening. There were only 4 of us and we had a lot of leftovers. The only thing I wanted to point out about this restaurant is the fact that they did not offer us a fly fan. With all the food that we had, we were literally trying to enjoy ourselves but it was difficult with all the flies flying around. They finally gave us one but it was already towards the end of our meal. Other than that, we did have a good time eating all the food and catching up with our family. 5 stars for the House salad and the bone-in kalbi. Arrived on a Sunday with no reservations at about 5:45pm. Was invited to sit at the bar; our experience started well but went downhill from there. In short, our bartender went MIA after taking our order, we were finished eating by the time the garlic chicken came. Now we've been customers of Side Street since the early days, we know what the garlic chicken is supposed to be, we didn't get what Colin created years ago. It was like premade frozen chicken strips with a drizzle of the garlic sauce, so disappointing! The pork chop was dry and under seasoned. Auwe! $157 later we were feeling sad. It's a beautiful setting but, with all the other choices and the fact that we only go out twice a month, we can't take a chance on returning. read more

You can reserve a table via Yelp or you can call for a reservation. For 6+ people you will need to call them. First off, I loved that parking is way easier and that there are plenty of parking stalls. We were seated on the lanai area and it was a bit chilly. It was loud in there with it being busy and with live music being played. This was nice but I felt like I couldn't hear the people on my table conversing. We started off with some beers and cocktails (Green River Mojito, Lemon Peel Margarita, Orange Bang Mai Tai). All cocktails were good, especially the one I ordered. You can taste the orange bang in there and it was delicious. The 7 of us shared the "Colin's Classics Prix Fixe" which was $179 and was enough for food despite the 4-5 serving. It came with edamame, salad, fried rice, pork chop, garlic chicken, pork chop, and kalbi. We still had leftovers to bring home. For dessert we had the "Signature Peanut Butter Crunch," which was the perfect way to top our night off. Overall, the food tastes the same as the original location. Their menu is the same despite some specials you can find on the table. I will be coming here more often for the food and cocktails. We got boneless kalbi, and it was fresh out the cast iron, served still smokin, so you know the real deal this was freshly made, and not something that was left sitting a while ago. We heard about Hali'a by Side Street Inn from friends and knew we had to come out for a bite for ourselves. We were fortunate enough to get reservations for an early dinner. Everything on the menu sounded so good so we decided to get Collins Classics Prix Fixe Menu for a sampling of all their most popular items. The portions were very generous so we had lots of extras to take home for later. The edamame was cooked to perfection! The farmers salad was beautiful and delicious! Their signature fried rice was the perfect combination of all of Hawaii's quintessential flavors. Their famous pan fried famous pork chops, garlic fried chicken and sizzling boneless kalbi were absolute winners with us all! We noticed several mounds of fried rice plates started popping up on the tables around us so it confirmed we had ordered the most popular items. If only we had more time and more meals to eat while we were home then we could've gone back a second time! We will have to plan a specific trip to go back again next time! If you plan to go, know that they didn't open the doors early. We had reservations at 4 and that's exactly when they opened the doors. The food was amazing and definitely worth the price especially as it was family sized, we specifically got the rib eye steak along with some of there chicken dishes which were terrific! The Rib Eye Steak was so soft and tender that it melts in your mouth, service was so welcoming and made sure we were comfortable at all times. I'm not sure if we caught them on a good day at a good time, but we were able to sit at our table really early even if our entire party wasn't there yet. We sat on the outside area the level was a little weird and the entertainment was right next to us so it was kind of loud. We had a party of 12 so it did feel like we needed to shout extra across the table to have a conversation. The food was good. My only complaint would be the garlic fries. The texture was a little weird like sticky. Almost as if they took cooled fries and recooked it with garlic (don't take my word for it I'm not a chef or professional cook, just my opinion). Everything else was delicious and the portions match the price, actually it's way more. We had big eaters with us and we struggled to finish our food. We enjoyed our company so much we forgot to take pics of the food. We got there as soon as we could after the wedding, just about a week after they opened. Service is quite efficient and friendly...and I love their uniform shirts. I want one! Because we had the earliest dinner seating, our food came out super fast, and of course, we ordered way too much food, planning for eating leftovers all weekend! What we ordered: Pork Chops (no brainer, but they were overshadowed by our next dish) Garlic fried chicken (hot, juicy & delicious. We thought that was the best dish we ordered and preparation was on par with some of the great karaage chicken that we've had in Japan.) Tofu salad (good, but very few pieces of tofu, for something that's called tofu salad) Sizzling boneless kalbi (YUM!) Lilikoi crème brûlée (classically delicious) Went there a couple weeks later when my sister came to town, as Side Street Inn is of her favorite places, too. We ordered: Farmer's salad (a favorite) Garlic fried chicken (was a bit dry this time) Chocolate haupia puff (interesting, tasty, but not what we thought it would be) I think the inconsistency in the fried chicken between the two visits and the small amount of tofu in the salad could be due to the fact that they're new & the kitchen is probably working out the kinks. What was consistent, and kind of humorous in my opinion, is that on both visits, we received only one pair of tongs to serve all of our food with. All I could think is that they hadn't ordered enough of them...and I wanted to tell them that they could run to Longs and buy a bunch for really cheap! The 2 gals working the hostess stand greeted us with warm and welcoming smiles. Our server's name was Jovanee and she was awesome! She checked on us periodically and kept our waters filled. We decided to try and walk-in with our party of 5 and fortunately, they were able to accommodate us. They had to sit us outside but we didn't mind because the Ewa Carnival was going on so we were able to hear the music, watch everyone from a distance, and also move freely. The food came out hot and fresh! Although we sat outside, our server did great with checking up on us. Due to us sitting outside, there were a bit of flies that came but they brought out fly fans for our table which solved the problem. The food here is shareable between your party. View of the water from the inside & out. The staff all together were very friendly. The host herself set the tone of the restaurant. She was kind & even checked on my table way after we were seated. Sever was attentive and explained that everything was served as is and had to order the sides separately. All foods ordered are big portions. Chicken was a 10/10, snails = 7/10, fried rice = 10/10, ribs = 6/10. The snails weren't very tasteful, but it was served in olive oil, which was good to dip the bread in. The waiter was nice enough to bring me two sample bbq sauces to pick from for my ribs. The sauce didn't stick well to the ribs when cooked. The taste wasn't all there. It was pretty plain. The Westside finally has a Side Street Inn! I cannot recommend Hali'a by Side Street Inn enough! It's the ono grindz we all know and love from Side Street Inn, but with a beautiful oceanfront sunset view and live music! I was excited to find out Hali'a opened just in time for my husband's birthday. I took a chance and called the restaurant for a dinner reservation for the following evening. The sis who answered the phone sounded genuinely sweet. She was able to fit our party of 6 in. She even accommodated our request of bringing an outside birthday cake, just like the Kapahulu Side Street Inn when they made a similar accommodation for my birthday a few years ago! I checked in for our 6:00 reservation and noticed many parties were already in. I overheard a large party after me try to get seats, but would have to wait 2-3 hours. Make a reservation before making that trek through 76 South! The hostess who walked us to our table gladly took our outside birthday cake to store in their kitchen fridge. Our party of 6 (really, four adults and two kids with one lap child) were seated at the lanai, next to the live musician. Sound system was great even though the speaker was right next to us! Live music was 6-9pm and we heard classics from Willie K to Amy Hanaiali'i and others! Ordering was simple--we chose Colin's Classics Prix Fixe menu for 4-5 persons. Just like the older locations, when the restaurant says "good for X persons," they really mean "good for X very hungry teens." In short, everything tasted as ono as we remembered at the other locations. Our server would check on us the right amount of times without us feeling ignored nor hovered over...just the right amount of care! The bar looked pretty busy too and the cocktail/beer/wine menu looked interesting. If we didn't bring an outside cake, I would've loved to try the Signature Peanut Butter Crunch. I really cannot recommend Ewa Beach's new Side Street Inn enough. Great for birthday dinners, date nights, sports team banquets, or any fun occasion. Kid-friendly, too. Salads are pretty filling. Yes, those chops are delish and plentiful- tender, moist, well seasoned. Fried rice is a solid choice- local style and plentiful. Half order of Chinese chx salad was enough for 3. Hali'a by Side Street Inn is located at Wai Kai in Ewa Beach. We came last week for my boyfriend's birthday. On their website it doesn't show too much availability for making reservations but if you do it via Yelp or calling the restaurant you're more likely to get a slot. I reserved a couple days in advance for a party of 10 and was able to get the time I wanted. We arrived about 10 min earlier for our reservations at 7 (after the sun set). Unfortunately we got seated outside on the patio which wouldn't have been so bad if there was more light and we weren't directly next to the live entertainment. There was a table inside with a party half the size of us that we could have been on but it was fine, maybe it was an assignment/seating issue. The interior is nice and spacious with many large and small tables, bar and a patio for additional tables. We ordered the fixed menu which was easier because there were so many of us and added on some drinks and garlic fries. Farmer's salad - it was so nice to start with this because it was so refreshing and the dressing was addicting. Signature fried rice - you can never go wrong with the fried rice with the generous portion and fatty bacon pieces. Garlic fried chicken - another of our favorites because not only was the Korean sauce good but the chicken alone was so juicy and perfectly crisp. Pork chops - shouldn't really be that "famous" as they advertise because they were so overcooked and dry, we still have the leftovers sitting the fridge and the ketchup they gave doesn't compliment them at all. Boneless Kalbi - 1/2 of it was great 1/2 of it was burnt and it was so tough and not enjoyable at all. Orange bang mai tai - I wish the orange flavor was a little stronger, I could taste more coconut but it was still good. Lemon peel margarita - really good and we added on a li hing rim. Green river mojito - tasted exactly like green river and was probably the best one. Our server was Nick and he was not that great. He was friendly but not very helpful. Prior to the rest of our party even getting there, me and my boyfriend pretty much set up the table with everyone's menu's and utensils and plates distributed. Then, throughout our meal, we had to flag him down multiple times just to get a refill on our water or even ask for extra napkins. I understand the dinner rush but we didn't even get checked up on and asked how everything was until we were paying. This is what makes me wish restaurants didn't do automatic gratuity for large parties because the servers get a tip regardless of how they treat their diners. Overall, it was not as great of an experience as we wish it was. I already went in with expectations to be treated at least decently but especially because it was someone's birthday with us, we were barely even looked at. A plus is that they let you store your cake but the host told us there would be an additional cake storage fee.
