Instead of sending actual photos of the car on their lot, he pointed me to stock/showroom photos on their website. When I arrived, the car was deliberately parked in a tight, poorly lit area. Only after completing the transaction did I realize the bumper paint didn't match and had clearly been spray-painted over. Additionally, during my drive up, the salesman repeatedly texted me in a robotic, aggressive manner demanding photos of my cashier's check to verify funds--showing zero personal care or basic customer service. As a parent navigating serious health issues (cancer) and needing reliable transportation for medical appointments and for my child with special needs, I trusted this business to be upfront. That trust was completely misplaced. Immediately after leaving, I noticed severe, aggressive knocking whenever the transmission shifted. I brought the vehicle straight to a certified Mercedes-Benz dealership for a full inspection. They uncovered two major, dangerous issues: Unique Auto Center claimed to have replaced the windshield, but Mercedes showed me that it was never clipped in properly--a major safety oversight. The engine has a cracked valve, requiring an estimated $2,000 to $5,000 in immediate repairs. The dealership admitted they purchased this car straight from auction and flipped it without proper inspection or transparent disclosure. Selling a car with hidden mechanical issues and unsafe windshield installation to a cash buyer is unacceptable. Save yourself the headache, money, and safety risks--look elsewhere. The manger expressed that he would be willing to help pay for a paint job on the broken car lol why would I invest more money into a car that is broken. My boyfriend had already test-driven the truck earlier that morning and was under the impression that we could purchase it for around $15,500 out the door, including taxes and reasonable fees. Before going, I looked up the dealership and saw its 2.4 star Yelp rating with over 1,300 reviews. Many of the one star reviews described the exact same experience we ended up having. Unexpected markups, mandatory add-ons, and misleading pricing. I wiiiish he would've listened when I tried telling him this. When we arrived, we were left standing outside in the heat for over 10 minutes waiting for the truck, only to be told that it had supposedly been taken for a test drive. We were then told it would be another 10-20 minutes. At that point, I asked that we simply discuss the numbers. The truck was advertised at $13,995, and we came prepared to pay the listed price plus taxes and reasonable processing fees. Once we made it clear that we were not interested in unnecessary add-ons, the price suddenly jumped to around $20,000. For a USED 2014 truck with approximately 150,000 miles, they were trying to justify thousands of dollars in additional charges for things like door/rubber protection and other add-ons that we never asked for and are apparently non-negotiable to begin with. Almost like that should've been added in the original pricing! When we questioned the massive price difference, the salesman repeatedly avoided giving a straight answer and eventually hit us with, "Well, we have to make money somehow." Yes, dealerships need to make money, but that doesn't justify advertising a vehicle for $13,995 and then attempting to add roughly $5,000 in undisclosed charges once the customer is sitting in front of you. The salesman also tried to explain that taxes and pricing "vary by city," as if that somehow justified the enormous difference between the advertised price and the final quote. In Fontana you can expect to pay 1,300 for the exact vehicle mentioned (not $5,000). I have no idea why he thought it would be worth trying to argue to begin with. Classic bait-and-switch sales tactic. If the truck was actually $20,000 after mandatory dealer additions, then advertise it for $20,000 instead of $13,995. We could have saved ourselves the time if he had simply listened to all those one-star reviews describing the same exact behavior I had showed him IN THE FIRST PLACE. Save yourself the time. Ask for the out the door price BEFORE making the drive, and get every fee and add-on in writing.
