These people are shady, Bought a 2014 Ford edge from them 2 days ago and car is already in the shop and will be there for a couple of days. Thought we would drive it today to see how it does and of course, the check engine light comes on, took it to Autozone and the test showed that the alternator was bad, after going to the shop, I get told that it may be something more serious after they put a new alternator in and it didn't fix the problem. Battery good, fuse good, now I have to wait to find out what the problem is. drove over 2 hours to Johnny Motors in Fontana after confirming on the phone that their advertised price of $8,000 for a 2013 Scion XD was the actual out-the-door price before tax and registration. specifically asked if there were any additional dealer fees, and they told me no. Overall experience wasn't bad, was working with their sales guy Matthew very nice and helpful. Went to look at their 2018 Audi A6 and allowed me to take it for a test drive. Immediately knew there were some things off with how it drove. Johnny's Motors reported everything is great no issues with the vehicle. I took it in for a PPI which thankfully saved me a lot of money. The mechanic reported that they cleared the check engine light faults and would have turned back on the way home if purchased. The independent mechanic identified a shock was bad and leaking, an electrical issue fault with two of windows not properly working, and the intake manifold was not working. At minimum $700 in labor just to see the issue with worst case scenario being a total replacement. They downplayed it and wouldn't even come down on the price. I walked and saved a lot of money. Highly recommend a PPI from an independent shop these people are nice, but they are not trustworthy and will clear the check engine lights hoping you won't notice. This is a very shady business practice and it reflects why they are not a 4-5 star business. For a small price of $140 inspection I saved $1000s from purchasing a defective vehicle from this untrustworthy dealership. If it's been sitting on their lot for at least 30 days, there is probably a good reason it's not gone. Could have worked a deal out with me, to resolve the mechanical issues and made a sale for their quota but they chose not to and preferred to rip the next customer off and hoping they don't get a PPI. read more

They also said there are codes for transmission issues stored that were previously deleted, so the dealership may have been aware. I called and emailed Johnny's Motors to see if there is anything they cann do to make it right. They said there is nothing they can do. While on the way from 50 miles away they told me the car sold, then on my way back told me to come back and buy it. I came , extremely long wait time, the car had a loose gas cap and the driver side window buttons were broken off. They never replaced any parts after saying they would replace. They also only sent me my REAR license plate so the car gets pulled over for no reason. Garbage. The car then find out to have a huge oil leak which they obliviously knew about because it was leaking so heavily . The car motor was opened turned out 2 lifters silently failed and the camshaft failed as well. The car has turned out to be a nightmare. I would never shop here, and if you do get the longest warranty you can and make sure it involves motor and transmission. Very shady very sh**y shop. However the price advertised was only the cash price and was actually $3k lower than the finance price! The price listed also had a higher price crossed out next to the advertised price on the website which also made me think I was getting a little deal. I was informed the pricing was explained on the website but had to go looking for it. Ok, I'll take responsibility that I didn't go searching their website to ensure I had the correct pricing but the financing price should be clearer. Especially if your cars will be cross posted on other auto sales websites. The price the vehicle was advertised for was already on the high end for that vehicle and the financing price took it well above it. Sneaky way to draw people in. This place sold my daughter a car that was not ready for sale they disconnected the battery to clear the codes from the cart so my wife and I drove it home and as soon as we got on the road from our house the cat threw a code. After some investigation the ECU was disconnected and reset and the dealer had no issues selling a broken car! After fighting with them they gave my daughter her money back because they sold her a lemon. This is a dealership everyone should avoid. I showed up on 11/13/2025 spoke with Valerie who is a very nice sales associate to look at both Honda odysseys they had on the lot. I start with the 2007 with 136k miles on it listed for $4,450 with no warranty. I start it up crank on the A.C and not even two minutes later the entire front of the car is filled with white smoke. I hadn't moved the car an inch. I can only assume it was from the engine because it smelled like oil. I let Valerie know and to be fair it's not her fault. So obviously I give back the key and move onto the 2014 which is listed at $9,950. I test drive it and I like it. So I ask for the out the door price which is $12,057.69 . A $2,000 mark up isn't insane that's not the reason they lost my business. I had asked them if they could make the price and even $12,000 considering there was no gas in the car and the original car I was looking at was a lemon! Manager said he couldn't budge anything. So just a heads up if you plan on buying a car here don't expect any gas in the tank (lol) and double check everything. This is how they got it to pass smog.. so when we had to replace 2 converters spend more on that than the car is worth! Not a clear up front price. Hidden charge of an extra $800 marked other on the bill of sale explained as a fee for marketing payroll miscellaneous. What I was really unhappy about was the manager did not keep his word on the deal. The Transmission had not been serviced the fluid was burnt. We made a deal and he said that the transmission would get serviced. They did not service the transmission properly they only drained it and refilled it with other fluid didn't flush it out. When I inspected the fluid it looked different than before but it looked like brown used motor oil not red transmission fluid. I reminded him what our deal was and he said I bought it as is and its my problem now. They are not knowledgeable about the mechanics of vehicles and don't mind selling vehicles with issues that are not taken care of properly. Customer Update - I am disappointed to have to update my review to share my experience with Johnny's Motors for those that it can help. After owning the Honda Accord that I purchased for around 2 months, I got a light on my dash saying that I have low oil. That didn't make much sense to me since they replaced the oil before selling the car. Long story short, the car that they sold me is burning oil and will likely need an engine rebuild to repair the piston rings. It will be a $4-6k job. When I talked to Jose, the GM, about it, he agreed to have their mechanic take a look at it. It would take a long time to explain how awful that process was but the gist is that they took way longer than expected, drove my car without my knowledge, barely communicated with me, and lost my car at some point since neither the dealership or the mechanic could locate it. The mechanic left for the day 5 hours after I dropped it off without doing the only test I requested, which is a compression or leak-down test. I had to call both the dealer and the mechanic a total of 9 times that day to get updates on my car. Since then, the GM has refused to help in any other way stating that the car was sold "as-is." I have attempted to contact the owner for several weeks now and I have not gotten any word from him. If you are thinking about buying a car here, please know that you will not know the condition of the car you are buying and neither will the dealership. I attribute this to ignorance on their part and not bad intentions, and I hope that is true. Please consider another dealership if possible! read more
