Freshwater eel cut roll

Best sushi I've had! All of the fish is incredibly fresh and comes from Japan! All of the workers are very sweet and very accommodating. My roommate is Gluten Free and all of the servers made sure everything she ate was 100% gluten free. I noticed other reviews upset over them refusing service early so I wanted to address that, like many other restaurants, they do "last call" (which is the time to put in food or drinks in) 30 minutes before they close. Go Fish is also one of the cleanest restaurants I have been to. Highly recommend this place!

Go Fish Sushi Bar is a relatively new sushi spot located on Thousand Oaks Blvd by Tarantula Hill Brewery. It's a great addition to the area. While not really a recommended spot for traditional Japanese sushi, they excel at Americanized sushi rolls. They also have Kizami wasabi, which I highly recommend ordering. To eat, the garlic lemon roll is about as good as it gets. Spicy tuna and cucumber on the inside, avocado, thinly sliced lemon, tuna, garlic sauce, and garlic olive oil on the outside. Sushi roll perfection. Though not cheap (rolls are ~$20 each), the rolls are decently sized. If you are a fan of Americanized sushi rolls, you should definitely check this place out next time you're in the area.

"cucumber salad"

$15 for a cucumber salad with no dressing (photo below). Literally just sliced cucumber topped with imitation crab...The lady that took our order was very sweet. When I called the manager to ask him about it he called me a liar and insulted my wife lol. We also ordered a Seaweed salad and two orders of white rice for $36. Wouldn't recommend.

Corner seat .. great so far !!

My initial impression was Wow !! This place is refreshing, happy, and fun!! I was immediately greeted and led to my table. Their wait staff was so friendly and glad to answer any inquiries. I ordered the hot tea and my food. She was ready! They had all my selections ! Toro tuna .. which melted in my mouth ... sooo fresh ! The salmon roe and smelt egg were topped with quail egg .. perfectly wrapped and with a slight sweetness while bursting with flavour !! The eel was tender, warm and sweet .. cooked to perfection! The Yellowtail was like it was taken and prepped right from the boat! So tender with a lovely smooth, and tender texture at the first bite ! Service was amazing as Baylie was attentive and sweet! The energy was vibrant ! Nice & relaxing lunch stop! Highly recommend !! Cheers !!

Lunch special - California roll with sushi
Anna S.

We stopped by on a Saturday for a late lunch and were able to make it in before the lunch time (11-3pm) is over. We both ordered from the lunch special menu and happy to report that the food is delicious and the portion is very generous. The lunch special comes with a crab/cucumber salad appetizer, shrimp & veggie tempura, rice and salad. The crab and cucumber salad dressing is very good and the tempura is perfectly battered and cooked just right. Both sushi and California rolls from my order are very fresh and to be honest the portion is definitely on the generous side for a lunch special/bento box. I'm very happy we gave this place a try and I think it's a great place to stop by after having some beers from the brewery across the street. P.S. Parking could be a little tricky and it's on the side of the building.

We came here on Sunday around 4:30 for their happy hour. Our party of 8 was well taken care of. I believe it was Jen that helped us. I personally had the Tiffany roll and it was one of the best rolls I've ever had. Everyone else enjoyed their dish as well. The garlic edamame was terrific. The restaurant itself is clean and fun. I love the T.V.s. I was able to watch a little football as well. We will be back! Yummm!

I actually really enjoyed this spot! We missed happy hour but will be sure to go back and visit to check that out :) came here for a late night sushi girl date and the rolls and pieces were delicious. We stayed late close to closing time and the staff was really kind and not rushing us at all which I really appreciated. Will definitely be back!

Vegetable Tempura. Delicious!

I ordered from here for the first time on a DoorDash BOGO. I ordered the BOGO deals. Fried Rice, and Veggie Tempura. The fried rice was flavorful without being too salty. The veggie tempura was delicious and crispy! Huge veggies! I made a rice bowl with everything. The only critique with the tempura batter itself was it lacked flavor. I will definitely try other things from here!

Overall the food was great, but I'm not sure it was worth the pretty penny we spent. For two people on a date night, we paid close to $200 (including tip) for two drinks, two rolls, two hand rolls, and an appetizer. If you're looking for high quality melt in your mouth sushi packed with flavor, you'll definitely enjoy this restaurant. Because of the price, I had higher expectations for the service and overall ambiance. The restaurant gives off a corporate/franchise vibe, maybe it's the casual dress of the servers or the way they carry themselves. The service also felt pretty average and at times I felt rushed. It was our first time there and our server returned after only a few minutes to ask if we were ready to order (the menu is quite extensive). When I mentioned I was still deciding, she began recommending her personal favorites, flipping through my menu and pointing out items. It felt a bit invasive and overwhelming. I felt pressured to try what she recommended. I would have appreciated more time to look things over at my own pace and choose what I wanted. The restaurant was busy, but we had only been seated for about 10 minutes. After finishing our meal, we were hoping to relax and chat a bit (we rarely get date nights without the kids), but she stopped by and asked if we were full, which made us feel rushed again. I'm not sure if we'll return, but we might consider coming back for happy hour and sitting at the bar instead. The food was great, the service needs improvement, especially given the price

Highly recommended! First ate at the Simi Valley spot and was immediately impressed This review is overdue as the TO Blvd spot has now been open over a year now This spot definitely deserves more recognition as I think they are a top-tier local sushi restaurant and we will be going more often So... Sitting at the bar is a must The chef(s) was so friendly and explained where each fish was caught and why he prepared it a certain way (think it was Tomas) The fish here is on another level We had the Toro (fatty tuna) and it literally melted the second it hit my tongue You can tell they source high-quality, fresh cuts, the Yellowtail Belly was buttery and had zero 'fishy' aftertaste The Bluefin was so fresh served with a tiny bit of Kizami-Wasabi on top it tasted like we were eating it in Hawaii Even the Salmon and Albacore were heavenly delicious It's the kind of quality you usually only find at high-end omakase spots in the city Oh and the Scallops seemed super fresh melting in your mouth This is a hidden gem for purists They use real wasabi (not the green paste), and the chef brushes a light layer of nikiri (house-made soy glaze) on each piece, so you don't even need to dip it As earlier noted, they had Kizami-Wasabi a relish made from the real, chopped wasabi stem, which offers a unique crunchy texture and a well-rounded, sharp heat that fades cleanly It's an authentic experience where the craftsmanship of the chef(s) really shines through Well, we don't order rolls, everyone else was and they were Huge! The atmosphere was very cozy and the decor is beautiful I also appreciated all the TVs so I could watch some sports while not detracting from the conversation with my dinner partner Even though it was a busy night, the service was attentive and we never felt rushed It felt less like a meal and more like a curated experience Also this place respects the rice! Anyone who eats a lot of sushi knows that the rice is 50% of the sushi The shari was served at the perfect temperature, seasoned with just enough vinegar to complement the fish without overpowering it The grains were distinct and held together perfectly - not that cold, mushy fridge-style rice you get at cheaper places Worth the price, not any more expensive than most other local options and the quality justifies it! They also have some limited shared off street parking located nextdoor to the newly opened Santal TO Apt Bldg a sign posted 2HR PARKING TIL 9PM Also a short walk for street parking And for a upscale date night experience I believe the nextdoor restaurant Basta offers valet parking However, either way tell them "Woody's Review" brought you back! I think you'll be very satisfied eating here!

It was our first time here and it was amazing! The staff is very welcoming, friendly and attentive, the restaurant is very clean and the decor is perfect for a sushi bar. The menu has something for everyone! The portions are large and everything is fresh and delicious! They have a Happy Hour everyday from 3-5:30pm. We will definitely be back! Cheers!

I've been eagerly awaiting to try Go Fish Sushi Bar since it opened in Thousand Oaks. My friends had all reported back that they liked it and finally with a friend I was able to go for a Monday lunch. The restaurant itself is super cute inside. They did such a great job with the decor and layout of the restaurant. 5/5 for ambiance and style. Being new this place is spotless and feels refreshed inside. Definitely a cute spot for a date night or a friend's lunch date. The sushi here is also phenomenal! Some of the best sushi I've had on this side of town. The sushi was uber fresh and the portions were super generous. They have an extensive menu and lots of options to choose from. Every bite I had was delicious and I really appreciated the free cucumber and crab meat starter. For my meal I had their halibut sushi, a salmon cut roll and the OMG hand roll. Again, 5/5 for flavor, portion and presentation. The OMG hand roll I still think about. One of the best hand rolls I've had in a long time. My friend was also equally as happy with her meal as I was. I really wanted to give this spot 5 stars but there is still a little bit more that would need to happen to get there. The biggest reason we couldn't give them 5 stars is the service was unfortunately slow. Our waitress was nice and friendly, but the attentiveness and check ins were minimal. What was supposed to be a quick lunch turned into an hour. The only reason that it took this long was our waitress just wasn't on top of things. It took her a good while to even take our orders and then same for when we wanted to grab the check and leave. What was disappointing is there were only three other tables besides ourselves, so if she couldn't handle four tables at lunch I don't know what to tell you? Once our order was taken the sushi arrived quickly - so this wasn't a sushi chef issue. I've seen other reviews noting the service lacking so I do hope with more training the service will get a bit better with time. This spot really can be 5 stars and I so badly want to give it to them because the food is amazing, they just need to work on service and their price point is a little high for some of the rolls but the quality was there so something I could overlook. Definitely a spot you'll want to try as the sushi is stellar and the vibes are cute.

So happy with the TO location! Went for the first time the past Thursday night, got a table immediately and had some of the best sushi I've had in a LONG time. Really good quality and was happy paying a few more dollars per roll than we do at our usual sushi spot because the quality was that good. They also were super accommodating for our 18 month old which always wins big points from my perspective! Inside is nice and the sushi bar is big and super inviting - will be going back frequently!

But it is REALLY loud. There were maybe 9 people in there and you had yell at the person next to you because it's all concrete and metal. Not sure who thought this would work but it definitely does not. Also doesn't look like anyone had a plan of what they wanted the space to be. Live music? DJ? The acoustics are going to be awful. It's a massive space with a bunch of tables and nothing else. It's quite simply just odd. As for the food, it's not good. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. Pretty bland and nothing is fresh. It's also outrageously overpriced. Chicken fajitas were meh and they were $27.00. We got shrimp and they were rubbery and came in a plastic bag, which was in a bucket. Weird. Also, no silverware. Only plastic. Just a headscratcher all around. The website says they have happy hour but they didn't have a separate menu. Just two dollars off drinks is what w were told. Probably why it was empty at 5:30. Also weird. They have this huge space and don't seem to have any idea what to do with it. Drinks were the same as the food. Wildly overpriced and the bartender didn't seem to know what they were doing. So, fitting for the overall concept. I was excited about the new bar because we have an office down the street but this looks like a hard pass for me. 5 stars is for the staff because they were great.

The mall this place is in is a dump. There is a Mexican restaurant next door. I mention this because there is the crab/seafood menu and then there is an extensive Mexican food menu as well. I wonder if they just get the Mexican food from the restaurant next door? I don't know, nothing wrong in that. The tables have a paper "tablecloth" on them with plastic utensils. The reason for this is they don't use plates. They just bring you your seasoned seafood in a double plastic bag, and it is dumped out onto the paper "tablecloth". I saw this happening at the only other occupied table and immediately lost my appetite. My wife, undeterred, ordered some mussels. Ordinarily, we'll also order vegetables with any meal, but the side servings of vegetables are priced like filet mignon. I asked if I ordered the chips & guacamole, did it come with a serving of salsa? Alas, our server said no. What does a tiny amount of salsa cost a restaurant? 50 cents? So, I stuck with a glass of water. I was done. I couldn't bring myself to eat here. My wife ate a few of the mussels, digging them out from the plastic bags with her plastic fork. She said they were "ok" but we paid and departed, after a very poor experience. No pictures because I wasn't in the mood.

Authentic Island Flavors at Luau Grill…read more My wife, our three sons, and I recently stopped by Luau Grill in Thousand Oaks, and it was one of those spots that instantly makes you feel at home. With its true mom and pop shop feel, this place delivers not just on flavor, but on that welcoming, no-frills atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. Entrées: We ordered the chicken katsu and kalbi short ribs, and both were outstanding. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. The kalbi short ribs were just as impressive, marinated well with that sweet and savory balance you expect from great Hawaiian BBQ, and cooked to perfection with a nice char. Sides: Each plate came with white rice and macaroni salad, and both hit the mark. The rice was fluffy and a perfect base for the meats, while the macaroni salad was creamy, simple, and exactly what you want alongside a hearty Hawaiian meal. Appetizers: We also grabbed a classic spam musubi, and it did not disappoint. The spam was nicely seared with a slightly sweet glaze, sitting on perfectly seasoned rice and wrapped in seaweed. Simple, but done right. Ambience: The vibe here is as authentic as it gets. It truly feels like a small family-run spot where the focus is on good food and good service rather than anything flashy. That mom and pop atmosphere adds a lot of charm to the overall experience. Overall: Luau Grill is a must-visit if you're in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Hawaiian food. Dining here with our three sons was easy and enjoyable, and from the quality of the dishes to the welcoming feel of the place, everything comes together for a great experience. Easily one of the best Hawaiian spots around, and definitely somewhere we'll be returning to.
