Love the food, the staff, everything about Kazu. We have been going here since he opened!

Came here on a recommendation from my father-in-law when he was down in Florida for vacation. He claims that this is the best sushi place he's ever been to. The sushi itself being one of the best he's ever had. Man, was he ever wrong. Surprising, because he's eaten at the top places in the northeast. The nigiri sushi itself was poorly constructed. The fish, hardly preserved. Platters only had standard sushi fishes - tuna, salmon, fluke. No white tuna, barely any yellowtail. Even the California rolls were made incorrectly. Below average at best. Nothing authentic about it either. What's even crazier is that the udon used Lo-mein noodles. What the heck? A japanese cannot possibly own this place. Beef teriyaki was strange with a really odd watery sauce. Meat seemed to be cut strangely. The only seemingly good thing about this place is the REALLY large sake menu. Which now that I think about it, is probably the reason why my father-in-law loves this place so much. A little lubrication can go a long way. Haha. I'm a regular here for the last 3 years. Tonight happens to be busy. The waitresses have been nothing short of rude. We were asked to order in our first 5 minutes at the table. We ordered appetizers as the waitress walked away from us. She never came back. Tables beside us commented about our not being served. When I attempted to resolve the problem the staff was defensive and the owner unavailable. They offered to take my order in the back hallway outside of the kitchen because in their infinite wisdom finally taking an order when a member of the party is indisposed is when to do it. It's a shame really. I guess they do not understand today's economy and that treating people poorly is not acceptable when dining out. We came when the house was full. Now there are 4 other tables, but still no food. They just lost a regular. read more

we eat here on a weekly basis. We both order a double green salad and could eat two of those each bc they are GREAT. I get 2 california rolls with brown rice and cream cheese and my wife orders 2 spicy tuna rolls with brown rice and cream cheese. This is one of the only places that do not give us a hard time about the brown rice and it is the best place we have found when we base our sushi on being fresh!!! I love this palce and we always have the same sweet waitress that we love!!! The entire staff is friendly and my new favorite spot is at the end of the bar to watch the chef's bc they create incredible food, quickly! read more

SAVE yourself! Don't waste your time, money and health by eating at Kazu. Service is forgetful and rude. The salmon on the sushi roll was all fat that made the dish greasy. Honestly the rolls weren't that good for the price period. Cost almost $100 for an appetizer, 3 rolls and 4 glasses of house red wine. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who LOVES to give 4 stars! If I could give Kazu a negative score I would of. The down a dirty... The restaurant was very very small. The table next to you is basically dinning with you. Their menu is limited. Two wines Red and White, that's it. They have very few choices for rolls. Service was horrible. We ordered 3 rolls and got 2. When we got our third roll that had charred salmon on top we ended up with charred fat that saturated the whole roll with grease. When my date said something to the waitress she said Salmon is a fatty fish and we agreed but this was nothing but fat. My fear is that it wasn't even salmon at all. It was pure white through and through. I could only choke down one bite then I got sick and felt like crap for the rest of the night. I was shocked that the waitress didn't offer any assistance she did forget about one of our rolls and we shown her the fat roll and yet she dismissed us. Guess the language barrier works out for her. I am new to this area and I guess my hunt for rolls is still on. To help you out a little.... as a backup I did checkout Benihana's and really enjoyed their food. I ate at the sushi bar so when you go to the bathroom you have to leave a trail of crumbs to find your why back and the drive is a little farther away but WAY worth it!! read more

GREAT sushi. really awesome selection of fish and rolls, a little pricy, but worth the splurge. don't miss the fresh real crab rolls (we loved Y's roll and the real California roll) they're a really refreshing change. service was average, the waitress was polite, but we're used to more friendly staff - the sushi chefs didn't even acknowledge the presence of customers just a few feet away. for sure high quality fish. we'll definitely return. read more

Kazu is the real deal. The owners are Japanese. The restaurant is clean and lit well. They are small and when busy service can be slow from an American perspective. I notice that the people making negative comments about the food are exclusively Gaijin. The most they will say is "I am from ...." I have a Chinese wife and I have spent a good bit of my life outside the US. The US does NOT set the standard for Sushi quality although there are a few New York and LA/SF based Sushi places that are world class. I have yet to see one that competes with a good Japanese sushi restaurant (that is, in Japan). I have read reviews of excellent Chinese restaurants here on Yelp where the negative comments are by people who really don't know REAL Chinese food. I feel the negative reviews here are the same. This being said the quality of the Sushi in Kazu is excellent. The chefs are responsive and the sizes are appropriate. The cost is less than that of most good sushi restaurants. As I said, from the perspective on an American the service can be slow but it is certainly world standard. Well Recommended. read more

Incredible meal last night! Sake selection, killer! Soft-shell crabs were off the charts! Think salt and vinegar chips, but a deep fried crab in the mix. WOW! Server was great, young and very knowledgeable. Great taste, also! 10/10 recommend and will be back, very soon! read more

I've never been disappointed with this place. I've eaten here almost a dozen times. Their sushi is always good. The fish is always fresh tasting. I like the spider and rainbow roll. I've also had their seafood ceviche which was really really good. I enjoy their gyoza as well. The place is very nice looking and clean, however it is small so expect a cozy dining experience. They get packed on the weekends. I've never had bad service here. read more

Place is a tad small for the demand but that's not a bad thing for a business owner to have a wait. Just be patient and have a beer, wine or sake. Went with my son and feel I knew the sushi chef. I believe he was from the Sakura when Tony owned it. - can anyone confirm. We had a good traditional sushi meal. As we have been eating sushi for quite some time, learned from our Japanese friends, and eat items usually off the menu. The waitstaff are a bit "vanilla" and ours was new. We sat at the sushi bar made it easier to communicate those items. We will return but there are other places that are equal to quality and accommodate more people at dinner service if you need to seat more than 4 with about an hour to dine. read more

Delicious and fresh! Went there with a few friends for the first time last week. Prices were extremely competitive and service was very friendly and fast. Had a salmon dragon roll and baked eggplant appetizer. Dragon roll was out of this world! Super fresh-tasting, plenty of pieces, and an overall delicious combination. The eggplant was also good, but the miso glaze was a bit too rich for an already rich-tasting vegetable. Light soy sauce would have been just right, but I will definitely try one of their other appetizers next time. There were lots of choices on the menu. So glad I tried Kazu! read more

Love the food and tea here. Prices are great and food is always fresh and tasty. Come early or expect to wait for tables. The bar usually has space. I highly recommend trying any one of the fabulous sushi and sashimi specials. read more

Unassuming little place in a strip mall...minimalist decor... within minutes one doesn't care about that at all.. it's the food!! Truly authentic Japanese.. no fancy fusion stuff, just seriously bang in the mouth joy!! Fish was amazing, perfect rice, sauces sublime! Not a trendy niche... but if you are serious about flavors and no none sense dining, this is the place! Hands down one of the finest sushi Emporiums on the Treasure Coast. Great apps and sake too!! Me and my husband took my four year old son here. Before walking in we got him a sandwich next door at jimmy johns because my four year old is not a fan of sushi. The owner promptly told us to leave because no outside food or drink is allowed in his establishment. I will never go there again. Ouch. Told by many how wonderful this place is, but my Sunday night dinner was kind of a dud. Really had a taste for hamachi Kama, the grilled collar of the yellow tail. It smelled a little fishy like it had been around a bit too long. It came naked without any sort of grilled taste and no light coating of any sort of sauce. The sushi, two orders of hamachi plus Saba and tuna lacked any sort of taste or flavor. The Saba was lightly pickled which made it the only sushi winner. Also had the pork katsu which was thick and tough. To top the meal off we were bombarded by small bugs during the meal. The diners at the next table were so disturbed by the bugs they couldn't wait to bolt from the restaurant. Our waitress, Hallie, sort of apologized for the bugs saying they might have come into the restaurant with the avocados. Interesting. Her ongoing laughter was pretty annoying as was the rushed service. The only plus to the evening was the miso soup. The $80 dining experience was definitely not worth the price. read more

Expected more to be honest. Fair food but nothing too great or high quality in my opinion.

My husband and I recently ate at Kazu twice over the course of a month. Both times we were happy to find great food choices and really helpful employees. We have tried several items off the menu and while all were yummy our favorite is the Katsu Don... There are no words for its deliciousness. Went there for lunch in mid July 2013 and was kinda disappointed. First, the place is small, it seats 30-40 including about 10 at the sushi bar. I wanted to make a couple modifications to a roll (willing to pay extra) and this seemed to bug the server (I got a big fat sigh from her), so I told her I would order the roll without any changes. No big deal, but "F" them for irritating me about the change. Next, the food took a long time. The server apologized about 15 minutes after order, but we were not in a rush, so again, no big deal. food was decent, but not memorable. Overall, the place was small, clean, pretty nice, and the food is ok. Im still looking for that awesome sushi place in Stuart area, this isn't it for me. read more

Most wonderful dining experience! We were in town on a business trip and discovered this little gem in search for some sushi. Their fish is of the highest quality and there's a three page sake menu to chose from. Everything we ordered was divine. The tuna tataki and the ceviche appetizer are to die for! Hands down the best sushi restaurant in the area. The sushi is always presented beautifully and prepared carefully. Chef is polite and the staff is welcoming and very accommodating. Kind of small, but definitely not cramped. Can be a bit loud at times, but the food and service make up for it. If sushi isn't your thing I would definitely recommend the Udon noodles with tempura shrimp, if I wasn't such a fiend for good sushi I would order that every time I come here. A good option if you are into many different kinds of sushi is to ask for the chef's choice, which won't disappoint the discerning sushi enthusiast. Would highly recommend to everyone! read more

What a shame....how one server can ruin a business. Very poor service from a waitress who stood at the door and took our to go order. The only thing we found here, was her incredulous attitude when she was told she got our order wrong. She made us feel unimportant and instead of eating sushi, she left us with such a bad taste in our mouths that we lost our appetite. Never again... read more

Best sushi in Stuart hands down. My wife and I are big sushi fans, but before Kazu we'd drive down to WPB to find decent Japanese (and get away from all the Thai/sushi places here). This is definitely the best Japanese food around. My significant other and I have rotated through the menu, and have yet to find one thing we didn't like. Kazu and his employees really know how to treat customers, and they recognize us every time and offer us the same seat. The fish is so fresh and delicate, and the tea is magnificent. I'm not even a big fan of tea usually but this tea is most definitely my favorite. We often go through a whole pot in 15 minutes. They also have the best Miso soup around. Inside is like little Japan, and the atmosphere is amazing. We were so happy to stumble upon this place, because we were displaced after our other favorite, Koi, closed and sold out to Siam Orchid, which is an awful place. If I could give KAZU 10 stars I would! The sushi was amazingly fresh! The toro was delicious. The chef made gluten free rolls for me with cucumbers. They were VERY accommodating to my allergy. The service was amazing too. One of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been. read more
