Goodkind is one of the many adorable coffee shops in Lakewood. Something that makes it stand out is that it's fairly large with ample seating on two sides. There's plenty of single tables and a few larger tables for meeting or working with a group. The space is airy and bright. I love the blue accents and wallpaper. It's def quiet and comfortable to feel good about spending a few hours there on a weekday. Service was fast and friendly. Overall, great vibes here. My coffee was delicious. I got a cafe au lait with one of their cinnamon seasonal syrups. I will say this isn't the spot if you're looking for breakfast with your coffee. I got one of their grab and go biscuit sandwiches which was prepackaged and sitting in their cooler. They did warm it up for me, but it wasnt very good. The meat was still kind of cold, so I just ate the biscuit with some honey. I can't really hold it against them, I don't think they make food there. Super friendly staff, metered parking lot, fun flavor combinations. However, I do think they can work on their matcha drinks more. I love the strawberry matcha combo but there is almost no matcha flavor. The drink may look matcha green but idk how much matcha is actually in the drink. My mother and I will come here relatively often to crotchet and people watch at the seats by the window, I really like the remodel they did, it feels more spacious and feels clean and calm in the cafe! Since its recent renovation, the interior is slightly less vintage cozy (gone are the loveseats and leather stools), but the baristas and staff are just as friendly as ever. You'll find excellent basic brews here along with a rotating seasonal menu with quirky creations such as cold brew with rhubarb syrup or with lime juice and vanilla. To munch on, there's a small selection of pastries from local bakeries, or you can get a burrito and other packaged goods from a local chef/caterer formerly from Tartine Bistro. Most patrons are locals in the area and it's gratifying to see the relationship between baristas and the customers. Come often enough, and they'll definitely remember your order. If you've got a pup, they're sure to get a treat too. Being pretty small, there's only a few round tables big enough to squeeze 1-2 people, and a larger dining table with some outlets that you'll be lucky to snag. Music is pretty dependent on the staff's whims but feel free to make requests. One feature that I'm glad wasn't replaced in the redecoration are the restrooms with their old-timey encyclopedia wallpaper. While the font is a little too small to read from the comfort of the toilet seat, it's an inspiring setting for anyone looking to do some creative work. read more

They maximized the space and varied the seating options with 5-6 two person booth-on-one-side tables, 2 four-person tables in the back, a couple comfy chairs and a counter and stools along the window. I've never had a problem finding a place to sit when I've come in to get a little work done. The people who work there are pleasant and friendly to customers and one another. It's nice because you don't feel like you're the only ones talking if you come in with a friend. That being said, if the place is full and you do specifically need quiet, it probably isn't. Came in here looking for pastries & coffee for a road trip, the line was out the door with people of all types... folks on their way to work, people in their pajamas, families, couples... So great to see a spot so welcoming to so many different kinds of people! I ordered the horchata latte which was seasonal and so, so good. My partner said his coffee was also excellent. We got bagels from the Cleveland Bagel Co. which looked a little flat but tasted amazing. Highly recommend the brie cream cheese! They were already out of a lot of pastries by the time we arrived, so we just wished for a little more variety in the food department, and the next time we were in town we looked for something a little more reliable for breakfast bites. It was a tad bit sweeter without needing sugar. I was told they make their syrups in the house. The cinnamon roll was ice cold I don't know if it was because I got it to go, and they usually warm it there or what. I warmed it at home and it was pretty good. I stopped by GoodKind on a weekend morning, as I often do, intending to enjoy a cup of coffee and get school work done. I had my backpack with me and placed my order as usual. Only after I paid did the barista place a small sign in front of me stating that the coffee shop is "laptop free on the weekends." I hadn't seen any signage before ordering, and nothing was mentioned when I walked in or while I was paying, despite her seeing I had a backpack on, and she had even asked if I would be staying. What made the experience worse was overhearing the barista complain about me to a coworker while glaring at me repeatedly. Despite the coffee shop being mostly empty--only a few tables were taken--I was eventually told in a rude manner to put my laptop away. I understand and respect house rules, but the way this situation was handled felt passive-aggressive and unnecessarily hostile. A polite heads-up would have been appreciated, especially before taking my order and money. The unwelcoming attitude left a really sour taste, and I won't be returning. read more

I truly think that Goodkind is one of the most slept upon coffee shops in all of Cleveland! Goodkind is a special experience. It's a wonderful space, with all the cutest little hipster workers. Like their staff is a whole type, and they are all so kind. It's honestly like you're in a movie really. The coffee shop you imagined in that book you read last week? That's Goodkind coffee to me. This had been on my places to try for the 2 years that I've lived in Lakewood and I finally got around to visiting. I absolutely loved it and wish I had tried it sooner! They had some really unique flavored drinks on their fall menu. I decided to try the How Rhu'd which is espresso, soda water, honey cinnamon syrup and rhubarb bitters. It sounds kind of different, but it was surprisingly very tasty! I love the atmosphere of Goodkind. There were lots of people there working on their computers and lots of regulars that came in while I was sitting there, which gave it a cute neighborhood coffee shop feel. A friend and I wanted to begin exploring the Lakewood area coffee shops and had no idea where to start. Goodkind Coffee came up on a random Instagram post that I saw, so we decided to go there with no other context - and we LOVED it. Goodkind is an incredibly cozy space. It is a small little shop but has a vintage vibe with its old wood floors and quirky details. There isn't that much seating - about 6 small tables, one larger table, and a counter. I usually like to come to coffee shops to work, so this is a bit of a bummer, but I think you could still get work done here given there are plenty of outlets and strong Wifi - you just might have to get here earlier to secure a table. They have a pretty standard coffee menu with a variety of seasonal specialty drinks. I usually don't get specialty drinks because I find they are always too sweet, but I decided to get the fall latte iced with oat milk and it was incredible. My friend got an ube latte (which is actually purple!). She thought it was a little too sweet but appreciated how beautiful it was. Another downside is we didn't get here until about 11:15 or so, and were a little disappointed that there weren't too many food options (some packaged banana breads/cookies and a few Cleveland Bagel bagels, but we missed out on fresher muffins and cinnamon rolls). Even so, I had a great experience with my beverage. It wasn't a cheap drink (I paid $6.50 because I wanted by drink both iced and with oat milk) but I have paid the same price and more at other local establishments and been disappointed before. If you want a good coffee shop for catching up with a friend, reading, or doing light work, I would definitely suggest checking out Goodkind. While it is less conducive to sitting down and having an intense study session, it has fantastic energy, very kind baristas, and is certainly a hidden gem. read more

I love trying local coffee shops. Ventured out to Lakewood today and decided to enjoy a latte. I was greeted by a friendly new employee Marcus. He was great with offering suggestions and even let me try flavors to help decide which latte. He made a cool leaf design in the fall latte I ordered. This place is unique in that they make all their syrup flavors in-house. So, expect high quality latte flavors. Really enjoyed the fall latte that has nodes of cinnamon, honey, and maybe clove? Not overly sweet. Next time hope to try the Ube latte. Tasted a bit like bubble tea. Some of their latte flavors are seasonal. Baked items are provided by local businesses with vegan and GF options. They also have bagels from CLE Bagel Co. (tip: they're only $2 here so it's cheaper than going to the bagel shop) and varied cream cheese flavors for a little extra. I loved my toasted rosemary bagel with cream cheese! My latte and bagel (w/plain cream cheese) were $8 total. Great deal! They have a restroom and free Wi-Fi. Seating is spread out with one large table and a few high top tables as well is a long bench with two mini tables. Many took orders to go. No parking lot so you'll need to use metered parking during the week and find free parking on weekends. They have one temp spot in front of the shop if you're picking up an order. Come super early on a weekday and you shouldn't have a problem with parking. Overall, great coffee, good people, good vibes. read more
