Pros: Beautiful rooms with very few inconveniences. List in cons! Beautiful pool area and landscaping. Also a few cons! Downtown Kīhei and Wailea not too far my car and more beaches and restaurants to go to. Favorite restaurants: Isana, you can walk to. Beach club, nice staff, good drinks, and great coconut shrimp. Threes, in town, great staff (ask for Josh) and food. Nalu, great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. 30 min walk or short drive. Great happy hour, ahi tacos the best. Monkey pod, but I like the one in Kaanapali best, better views. Salesman Dan Hunter was respectful and informative for our update, not pushy! Beaches nearby: Polo beach, great boardwalk along resorts in Wailea. Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge, you can walk the wooden bridge and then the beach. You can walk the beach all along Kīhei, even across the street, it just isn't easy in some areas. Cons: Need a car! The adult pool at the resort was cloudy and dirty from the pigeon's. Never saw them cleaning the pool until we complained the third day. Then they tried to clean it better l, especially after our review and we complained again. They need to do something about the pigeons before it gets better. The other pools were pristine. You rarely see a pool attendant, no help moving chairs or umbrellas. Only the adult pool area have nice comfortable covers, about 25, the rest are very uncomfortable. Wore down crappy cabanas with dirty covers, no TV's working or refrigerators, not that I would use them, but if you have them they should be in working order. Complained to Chanel, day manager who didn't seemed too concerned. She did come down and looked but no feedback expect pool service did seem to improve, just not resolved. The grab and go is really just a small fast food restaurant, no food only drinks. Are room was great except for dirty floors from something they put on them (photo with stain from wet foot). Moldy shower walls (photo). Cabinet in front of sink has a handle I hit my head on each time I wash dishes. Washer very loud!

A special thank you to Shermila, the front desk manager. When the storm affected our plans, she was incredibly friendly, helpful, and able to accommodate us for an additional night in the same room. During what could have been a stressful situation, she made everything much easier for us. We really appreciated her kindness and professionalism. Pros: The staff throughout the property were very friendly and welcoming. The resort did not feel overcrowded, which made for a relaxing stay. Our room was modern, spacious, and comfortable, with a full-size kitchen that was great to have. There are a few areas that could use improvement. Housekeeping could benefit from additional training and attention to detail, as the room cleaning was not as thorough as we would have expected. The patio furniture also appeared as though it had not been cleaned in a very long time, possibly since the property opened. Unfortunately, it was dirty enough that we did not feel comfortable sitting outside and enjoying the patio. Another disappointment was the food situation. The website indicates there is a kitchen on site, but there are actually no restaurants at the property, including by the pool, and there is no real breakfast option. There is a bar across the street with limited hours that serves bar food, as well as a grab-and-go area. We received a coupon for the grab-and-go, but the options with the coupon were extremely limited. We were only able to order a premade McMuffin-style breakfast sandwich, while the other items were not eligible with the coupon. Despite these areas for improvement, we are still giving our stay five stars because of the friendly staff and, most importantly, the way Shermila and the front desk team took care of us during a difficult situation with the storm. That level of service made a lasting impression and was very much appreciated.

The property has a very family-friendly feel, and my son loved exploring the beautiful grounds. The lobby and overall ambiance of the hotel have a very traditional Hawaiian feel. The restaurant here on the property was also very good, and the prices were much more affordable than many of the other options in the area. The décor in our room was beautiful. I especially loved the teak tropical furniture. We were on the top floor, the ninth level, with an ocean view. Our room was set farther back on the property, but we still had a beautiful view and a wonderful place to sit and eat breakfast while watching the waves each morning. We really got to enjoy Mauka to Makai--mountains out the front door and the ocean from our lanai (patio). The air conditioning worked great. It was also wonderful to open the lanai doors and let the fresh ocean trade winds come through. The kitchen was nice and stocked with very basic dishes, pots, and pans. It was enough to make things work, although you may want to bring or pick up anything specific you know you'll need. There is also an ice maker, which was great. We froze some plastic bottles of tea and water at night and used them in our little day cooler during the day. There is a Times Supermarket directly across the street, and it is VERY easy to walk to. There is also an ABC Store just a three-minute walk away. On the side of the front entrance, there is a gathering area with about 10 or so food trucks. This was a great option because everyone could get whatever food they wanted. We also had a stackable washer and dryer in our room, which was wonderful--especially when traveling with a child. I loved the entrance to this hotel. It was very Hawaiian and beautiful, yet understated. There are plenty of plumeria trees, so you get that wonderful tropical fragrance as you walk in. There is a small convenience store inside the hotel that carries many basic staples, along with some fun gifts. There is also West Maui Sports & Fishing in the lobby, which has basic snorkel and scuba gear. My son needed flippers, and we were able to get a good-quality pair there at a very reasonable price. I also needed a few things, and they had everything I was looking for. There is also a Snorkel Bob's across the way near Times Supermarket. The hotel offers a few fun activities and amenities, including local artists on certain days, lei-making, and ukulele lessons. Be sure to check the schedule to see what activities are being offered during your stay. A Few Cons The bed was a little softer than I usually prefer, but the linens and towels were very nice. When I called housekeeping and asked for extra sheets and blankets for the pull-out couch, they brought them up promptly. The rooms can also be a little noisy. You can hear other doors closing, especially from rooms across the hall, and occasionally you can hear car alarms going off. I used a white-noise machine and slept just fine. Overall, this was a wonderful first experience for my son visiting Hawaii. I lived on Oahu for a few years in the past, so I was especially happy to bring him to such a beautiful place and let him experience the swimming pools, the beach, and the island. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay with a family, I highly recommend Kaanapali Shores. It won't be the fanciest hotel you've ever stayed at, but to me, it feels very Hawaiian, welcoming, and local, with beautiful Hawaiian décor. All of the staff and workers we encountered were very friendly and kind. We had a wonderful six days here and would happily stay again.

The carpet needs a full shampoo as do all the furniture seat cushions. Both sides. All chairs. The oven doesn't work but the burners do, they just don't sit flat but do smoke when turned on. I needed to bake a dinner , so big problem. So begins the problem. That alone is a deal breaker. Photo for bedroom not current. Bed rearranged to lean against on wall for support. The bedroom is now set up so you can only get in on one side. One corner leg is broken off the frame. The bedroom tv now faces the formica sink with the big cigarette burn. So not usable to watch. The cubboards and closets are full of old left behind gear, umbrellas, toys and water bottles. The other closet door is on a slide and stuck. Full of extra wall pictures , a fan, a Lamp and a ladder. The very dated bamboo tables under glass tops look like they never have been wiped down. So a layer of dirt on your finger is the test. Only One smoke alarm and no posted taxation certificate so it may not have a STR certificate at all. The answer, move. After a couple phone calls and texts we agreed to pay for the first night. We had no choice. So a 210.00 night with fees for accidental damage , cleaning, air bnb fee, taxes to county, it turned into a 750.00 one night stay. That charge is for a perfect apartment and 1/2 the kitchen was unusable and the refrigerator ran all night. So, very far from what was charged. An Expensive lesson but no way to know till you arrive. My other nine days were refunded with an apology. Because they had no alternate stay to offer and the condition and unusable oven. We Booked another $4K stay in Kihei and asked for a refund for this joint. I let the after 5 pm night operator know an hour after i opened the door. This has never happened in many years of travel. The issue was not corrected, nobody showed up, texted or called. They claim there was no issues instead of apologizing they say they have nothing to apologize for. I have screen shots of the calls and concerns and I experienced a significant insect infestation in the room that affected my sleep and comfort on the last day and the ac wasn't even working. Their dirty sofa had something that bit me 20 minutes after I sat down. They replaced my room after I had a panic attack....The replacement room was clearly in MUCH better condition, which confirms the original room had issues. The guy STEVE said that clearly I was the one with the issues for not calling them all week since... he REFUSED to help. I was able to put my screen door up but I told them it was still broken. I would leave daily to enjoy the island sometimes out for over 10 hours so by the time I came back their office had closed. The maintenance guy told me they all knew about the stench and odors in the room and the wetness that attracted the insects but they still put me in there. I think it's a racial thing because I saw the other guests and they clearly had better rooms!! I would leave ZERO stars if I could because they refuse to apologize and take accountability. This is beyond disgusting and my friend found MOLD actual mold in his pillows where he is staying he has a baby and he also got bug bites. DISGUSTING and unprofessional they ruined my vacation. I am going to make a big deal now because they REFUSED ANY ACCOUNTABILITY not even a breakfast in the house. They ruined our last moment in Maui. Horrible customer service horrible experience to say the least!!!! AWFUL!!!! I spent 3 HOURS cleaning and spent a lot of money to buy supplies he didn't reimburse and I also told him the floors were so dusty my feet turned black. Screen door never was fixed and the bugs came in and I think sofa had bed bugs because I was bit right when I sat down. DISGUSTING!!!! There's also roaches! I stayed in A306... my friend stayed in 511 his pillow had mold we have photos. The room smelled so horrible I had to call health department because it smells like dead carcass. The maintenance guy sprayed the entire room with bug spray and my aunt got intoxicated nauseated and dizzy. It's not until I called health department that they actually apologized but by then the damage has been done. Again, the other reviews are probably fake I am a real person and this is an actual factual review.

They have some that do, or the pool. It was huge. Nicely decorated and clean. Lots of space. Two bedrooms and sofa bed. Foosball table. Beach stuff to borrow and even a wagon to haul stuff. Parking garage right there. Always found an open space. Bell hops were helpful and friendly. They got nice gym, clay tennis courts, swimming pool, hot tub, and BBQ grills. All well kept. I could go on but why? It was great condo to stay.

It's a short 15-minute drive from the airport and conveniently located in walking distance of the beaches and not far off Road to Hana. It was my first time traveling to Maui and a friend who has lived there for 5 years recommended Paia. It was very safe and secure. We adventured during most of the day, but we drove through later one afternoon and the area was hopping! Nalu Kai Lodge - it's not your typical place to stay. I went there with my boyfriend. It was quaint, romantic, safe, comfortable, and unbelievably clean. To put things into perspective on a cleanliness standpoint, I travel every other week for work and my routine is to check for bugs, Clorox wipe any surface I touch, and wear shower shoes (I am a germaphob and have stayed in 5-star hotels to your typical Marriott or Marriott Courtyard - you'd be shocked at just how disgusting hotels are no matter their rank). This is the first place I stayed where I haven't worn shower shoes in years. It was just that clean. The sheets were fresh and the bed was cozy. The temperature was ideal - we went during rainy season in January and the fan with the windows open made for the perfect temperature. It was almost magical the way the rain sounded on the roof. It was better than my sleep and meditation app - and it was au natural! The stone floor of the shower room felt amazing under my feet and the room came with fresh beach towels and a refrigerator. I read reviews about parking - they have enough spots for guests, there is plentiful street parking at night, and there is free beach parking a block away. Be aware - the bathroom is separated from the room by a curtain. If you are a private person and need added privacy to use the bathroom, I recommend sending your significant other/travel buddy outside to enjoy the lounge area, to the coffee shop adjoined to the lodge, or to go look at the shops. They also have an outdoor shower by the fountain outside, a hammock, picnic tables, a tiki bar, and many outlets for charging. If you run into the staff, they are extraordinary. I particularly enjoyed Suzy (Susan?)'s company. We talked one afternoon and she was a lovely person. My only regret about my stay is that I only stayed two nights. I spent the other nights in different parts of the island in Airbnb's, inns, etc. My boyfriend and I tried to book additional nights at Nalu Kai even though we had reservations elsewhere, but they were booked. We loved it that much. It was just that special. Yelpers want to know. I ve been able to use the restaurant or my kitchen for all meals. We can walk and use two great beaches daily. I haven't moved the car. Today we may go Shop. Decide later. ..... The fitness studio has free weights , a universal machine, a peloton and walking and a striding machine. I ve been able to go daily and the average is 1-3 people. Right now , i am on the Lanai, and i see two distance swimmers crossing the bay in front of us, side by side. Same Stroke. You can only get this lifestyle right here. All i hear is surf and birds.
