Kearney Garage has the greatest mix of incredible customer service, quality work, and great prices. I've used them for 3 of my vehicles, and every time I've walked away happy and confident that my vehicle was at optimum performance. I went to run diagnostics on a check engine light yesterday for my Ram truck. They found 4 error codes and could have charged me over $2,000 on parts and service to fix them, but instead they called to let me know that everything was covered under Chrysler's warranty and all I had to pay was the diagnostic fee. It only solidified the outstanding reputation I had for them. Kearney Garage will be my go-to for my all of my vehicle service needs. read more

Kearney Garage is one of the most honest auto repair places I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I had blown out the fuse on my Honda CR-V's cigarette lighter outlet, and I figured at least $100 to fix the outlet. I showed up, in the morning, fully expecting to leave my car for the whole day. After keeping my car all day, they called me at the very end of the day with a list of almost $1,000 worth of charges to fix my issue. I debated whether or not to suck it up and just pay, but decided to take it to a place a friend recommended (olde town auto in wheatridge) and without even knowing what Kearney Garage had quoted me, they looked at my car and told me it only needed a $350 fix and informed me that the two new radiator hoses Kearney said I needed (at a cost of $250 for parts and labor) only cost $10 and $20 each and would take just a few minutes to put on, exposing that Kearney would have SIGNIFICANTLY overcharged for that job. When I told Kearney I was going to take my car for a quote somewhere else, they told me I had to pay them $30 for having looked at it and acted really snotty about it, saying something snarky like "you can't expect us to look at your car for free." Really???? Cause that's what just about every other auto shop does... Later, when talking to a friend I found out she had the same issue with them, and ended up paying $3,000 for a fix they initially told her would be $1,000. She would never have left her car there and had them fix it had she know it would be so much, but they didn't tell her until too late. read more

I have been a Kearney Garage customer for years and have been very satisfied for years. I recently took my car in as I was moving across the country and wanted to make sure everything was reliable. Alex first called me and said to fix everything would be $5100. I told him I could not afford that. I asked him to prioritize the repairs that would be needed to get the car safely to my destination - 1300 miles away. He came back with $1700, which I still could not afford. I looked at the list and told them to do the left CV joint (which I knew was broken) oil change, and bulb change on the headlight. Cost? $500, which I now know was way too much. I took it to a honest, local mechanic that my stepfather recommended today in my new state. They inspected the car and told me there's nothing wrong with it except the tires needed air. No charge. I feel I was taken advantage of by Kearney Garage. I don't recommend going back there until there is new management. read more

I'm currently frustrated by my experience at Kearney Garage. After experiencing a dead battery yesterday (it's only a year old), I had the battery charged by AAA and took AAA's advise and took my 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan to Kearney Garage. The AAA tech said that I might need a new alternator. I left my van at 1pm yesterday and was told by Alex that it would likely be tested in the morning as they could not get to it that afternoon. Alex also asked if I wanted to use AAA for a free battery replacement (as its still under warranty) if I end up needing a battery. He said that AAA's batteries are not known to be good and suggested getting one of theirs. He emphasized that it would take me more time if I used AAA and made me feel that their batteries are useless. I am surprised to have him putting down AAA since I would never have taken my van there except that AAA recommended them. Before this I have ALWAYS used Mile High Honda and experienced fast and very friendly service and was always given timely and friendly updates. I have four young children that I need to drive around and so I called for an update this morning at 9:30am. Alex, told me that the van was just starting to be tested. I need to pick up a child at 12:30, so I called again just now (11:25) to get an update, as he mentioned the battery charge test is only $35 so I am assuming it would be a quick test. Alex answered again and said he had no idea how long it could take - maybe even 3 or 4 hours and that "if he had a crystal ball" he could give me a better update. I'm a nice person, I just need an update so that I can rearrange the driving schedule this afternoon, but I feel like I'm being held hostage. I'm sure that they should be able to give me an idea of timing. I hope that the final outcome of this experience will be a good one but right now I am very frustrated and would not go to Kearney again, or recommend them to anyone. I will make sure to inform the owners of my dismay as well. read more

Friday morning Greg told me my SUV would be done by end of day. At the end of the day, Greg called to say they hadn't looked at it yet. He said it was still driveable, and "did I need it for the weekend?" I said I did, and he promised to put it outside where I could pick it up. I walked over (twenty minutes) to find it locked up inside, I walked home. The (straightforward) repair wasn't done until days later and the "estimated price" went up over 50%, Next time I'll try Hotchkiss. I wish I'd read the reviews before taking it to the shop that's simply closest to me. read more

I'm new to the Park Hill area and needed a good garage. I checked out Kearney Garage. I was very impressed with the staff, receptive and willing to help. If a mechanic finds other items wrong they call before making any additional repairs. They review costs in advance and there were no "surprises". Owner of the garage takes every car for a test drive to insure quality of work. I'm pretty fussy on who takes care of my vehicles. So far, this looks like the right place. read more

Warning! Very Bad Garage! I brought in my Lexus LX470 for a check-up and oil change. Kearney Garage gave me a service quote of over $2000 to get my vehicle serviced. $2000! Further, I scheduled an appointment to drop off my vehicle at 8am on Tuesday and my vehicle was not ready until 4:20 pm on Wednesday. The only thing they did was give me a new battery in the end. It took then 2 full days to service my vehicle that had nothing wrong with it when I brought it in for a regular checkup. Unacceptable. Also, they charged me $350 for the check-up, oil change, and a new battery. Wow. Overall, this garage is untrustworthy and expensive. Truly. Let me say I have not been to Kearney Garage in nearly a decade. However, I used them for many years starting in the 1980s until I bought a VW in 2002 and decided I was better off at a VW shop. Kearney Garage is so amazing I don't even know where to start. I've been going to them for a couple years now and have always had a great experience with them. Their location isn't the most convenient for me, so I have tried other places and really regretted it. This time I tried getting my car serviced at Audi, only for them to break a part in my car and not tell me. So I obviously brought it to Kearney immediately and they not only fixed it for me for a great price but also did everything they could to help me make sure Audi lasts for the damages! I have not has any extensive work done on my car but more simple repairs. With that being said, I have had excellent services experiences and certainly will plan to go there in the future when needed. I've had experiences being discounted or have felt taken advantage as a woman in an area that I am not that knowledgable. I have my worlds of knowledge but car repair/mechanical repair is not one of them; I pay for that service instead. I have been treated with much respect and the employees of Kearney Garage were straight forward and honest. I have recently had to stop in a few times for a simple repair (something I could have had a friend likely 'fix') and they did a quick fix without charge. Like I said, it was a simple repair and honestly embarrassing how it happened. Without judgement they quickly fixed it for me (not once but twice!) I was Disappointing with my experience. I felt taken advantage of and that their services were extremely over priced. I ended up paying a ridiculous amount to have them test and find the issue. Their asking price to fix it was also outrageous. We were able to fix the issue ourselves within a couple hours at home. I have no idea why they would ask $500 to connect some wires in the door. I thought I'd give these guys a try because I live close and they are locally owned but sadly i will probably never go back. They also offer a shuttle service but never asked if i needed a ride. Folks here are moderately polite and seem to know what they're doing; however, they really charge top dollar for every little thing. We have oil changes with them but that's it. Every time we bring our cars in for oil changes, they tell us a bunch of stuff needs done and give us a quote; we take it some where else and get the same stuff fixed for a quarter the cost. read more

At 2:00 A.M. my truck's alternator died on way to the airport. AAA Colorado towed my truck to the Kearney Garage. Before I called the shop, they had already completed a full diagnostic, taken photos, and suggested fixes. They had gone the extra mile. Alex was my service advisor. A Tale of Two Garages ...Charles Dickens I am not, however I will tell my little tale and let you decide which garage has the bad guys (Kearney Garage) and which are the good guys (Hotchkiss Garage). My homeless son is hanging on by his fingernails with a taxi-driving job. And I am not Mitt Romney either, but we helped him get a car, a 1999 GMC Jimmy, to keep him from sleeping on the streets. He is supposed to pay if off when he can. Recently it would not start, so he had it towed to the bad guys (despicable really), but I am supposed to be letting you decide. The bad (just an adjective identifier really) guys charged $99 to "diagnose" the problem as a $1350 plus problem with the fuel injectors, with no cheaper solution but replacement. They ignored a bad oil leak that I witnessed in early May when traveling through to Florida to start clean up of my Mother's house (I know Mother is not capitalized here, but I do it out of respect). I had the car towed to Hotchkiss Garage, the good (the only adjective identifier left in this true story is "good", more like superlative) guys. They saw a huge puddle of oil from under the car, so before starting by checking the fuel injectors, they checked on the oil leak and found the source to be an improperly attached oil filter adapter (don't ask me why the filter has an adapter...all the filters I have ever seen just attach to the block). Because of the large air pressure leak (where the oil was leaking) and a lack of integrity in the oil system, I suspected immediately the reason the car would not start was a lack of oil pressure. At any rate a couple of parts, including a new gasket, later and the car started without problems. The car was checked and is running fine. No injector problem. Cost was $126.16. I selected Hotchkiss garage (good guys) after looking at reviews online such as this one, and after first seeing bad reviews about the one my son had selected, Kearney garage (bad guys). And what did Kearney garage have to say when I asked about their $99 "mis"diagnosis as to what they found that made them think fuel injector problem. Some gobble-de-gook answers about the pressure of several injectors. I asked if they had seen the oil leak and they said they were not looking for oil leaks. To which, I must pose the question, why not? We were trying to find out why the car was not starting. My son, who is not a mechanic, did not say to just concentrate on the fuel injectors. And what did Kearney garage say when I gave them the opportunity to make things right financially for their misdiagnosis, they stuck to their "story" and feel they did everything right. And Steve even added they did not see the oil leak. And when I grabbed on to that statement, he backed off a little and then said not that much of a leak. And what can be added about Hotchkiss garage? Being 2000 plus miles away, I had to try to get answers and trust the person I was working with over the phone. I could not have selected a better garage or better person to work with. Marco was knowledgable, friendly, patient, understanding, supportive, and tolerant (running out of superlatives) of all questions beyond my wildest expectations. He called and told me what to expect at each step, and asked permission to look at fixing the oil leak first, concurring with me that the lack of oil pressures might be causing the starting problem (actually wily leading me to that thinking, I think.) I am 73 years old and have dealt with a lot of garages, and I highly recommend this one. If I still lived in the Denver area, I would have found my garage and recommend their honest policies,to do what needs to be to fix the problem. They do not seem to be out to gouge customers for unneeded repairs. They have plenty of work to support their business, and honestly want to solve your car problem. So, true experience, $1350 and not fixing the problem, or $126.16 and dead on with their diagnosis and solution. They did not even charge me the $90 diagnosis fee. I called Marco up to ask about (complain is not the right word for not getting charged). He said we were "good". I guess because the oil leak was spotted right away and was so evident. So, you tell me. Are the "good" guys (Hotchkiss) garage? (I will even give you the address and phone number: Hotchkiss Auto 6918 E Colfax Ave Denver, CO 80220 Park Hill, Northeast Phone number (303) 780-7747) And, are the "bad" guys Kearney garage? Gone there for years, with a heap, a little putter, and now a decent car I earned, treasure, and maintain religiously. They are conscientious, remind me when I need maintenance, patiently listen for my mystery engine noises, take my emergencies right away, talk to my dog, pick me up when it is cold. If they recommend a procedure, I can be sure it is needed. Clean shop, cute old building, and around the corner is a bakery with cupcakes. Who could ask for more? read more

Crooks.....after paying $120 for a tow (bc it was the closest to my breakdown) ...another $100 for their "expert inspection and diagnosis".....then they want to charge $1300 for a new part, when that was'nt the real problem....another tow to Hotchkiss Auto was a Blessing, they found the REAL problem and only charged $160!!! Over $300 was wasted on tows and paying them for looking at it and trying to rip me off.....I don't know how rich people think but $1500 to throw away is kind of alot of $$, even the $300 was alot of $$.
