I was here in October 2011 for a weekend to museum-hop in Los Angeles and picked up their business card with the intent on giving them some love through a site like Yelp. I had several vegetarian items, including the mouhamara, which is to die for. Eating alone, I briefly got to know a gentleman who was sitting behind me, who insisted that I try some of his yogurt drink and chikufte. It was the kind of surprising and delightful cultural exchange that was completely unexpected yet made me feel like family. I am so glad that my bed and breakfast host insisted on my coming here, steering me away from more chain-like establishments in the area. I look forward to coming here again and only wish that I lived closer. read more

Racist place !!! We ate here about a month ago and the food was okay. We came back a few weeks later and it was about an hour before they close and they claimed that their chef is leaving. We then came to give it another shot and we were told to wait 30 minutes to be seated. We saw that a table was clearing up and I went in to ask if it was our turn to be seated despite being the only ones waiting. The host said I must wait more. I asked what is going on with the table that is being cleared and he responded that it was for only 3 people although there were 4 chair which happened to be our party's size. I asked if I may add another chair and he said you have to wait. He then said "if you don't want to wait there 1000 more restaurants that are open" .for a split second I couldn't understand why he was speaking like this. He was being very rude and it seemed to us that it was because I had the Star of David necklace and we gave the name "Avi" for our party name. This clearly showed signs of racism and I am very shocked. I don't think this place deserves one foot to be stepped into here. read more

I knew I was in for a great meal when a full plate of complimentary pickles comes to my table. Sharp beet-red radish, crisp, hefty pickled cucumber, and delicate, floral tasting pickled cabbage. I am told by my server, who is the son of the owner, that all the pickles are house-made. It is a weekend, and they don't usually offer lunch specials on weekends, but they kindly offer me the special anyway. I order the chicken breast plate with a fattoush salad and a small jajick, or yogurt with cucumber and dried mint, side. The fattoush salad comes out first, with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and crisp pita, all dressed in a somewhat spicy harissa dressing. I am a true yogurt sauce fiend, and their yogurt sauce is some of the best I've had. Not watery, perfectly balanced with lots of diced, crunchy cucumber and earthy dried mint. Last comes my chicken kabob: tender and succulent, dusted with a savory spice mix, served with fresh onion and a juicy roasted tomato. I carefully compose each bite to contain chicken, yogurt sauce, pickle, and a bit of the thick, fragrant garlic paste that comes with the kabob. So many incredible flavors with each chew! I am in heaven. After I finish my kabob, and even though I am stuffed, I eat a whole extra plate of the rose-reminiscent pickled cabbage, marveling at its unique flavor on each bite. Sadly, I'm not in Van Nuys too often, but if I were I'd be dining here constantly. read more

After a long day visiting from San Diego, a friend recommended to join her for dinner at her favorite Lebanese Restaurant. Being from Europe myself I had Lebanese food many times before. This was the best restaurant recommendation in a long time. The staff let us in even though they had a private group reservation, then went out of their way to get our food done earlier as some of us had to get back to San Diego. 5 * for customer service, effort, friendliness and 5* plus for absolutely delicious food. If you want good healthy Mediterranean food, this is one of the best if not the best. I used to work in Saudi Arabia and really developed a liking for Mediterranean cuisine. I can even eat here when I'm on my keto diet. Their babaganush is the best I've ever tried, the grilled meats are always consistently moist. When I have guest specially from overseas, I make sure to take them here. This place is AMAZING!!! I've been here so many times, and each time the food is even better than before. I used to eat here since before the name was changed to Kebab Halebi (before it was even Garden Grill, actually), and the food has always been amazing and quality has never decreased, so I don't know what some reviewers are talking about. The shish kebab, hummus, rice and salad are definitely the best. The chicken is just as good for those who prefer not to eat beef. Their french fries are the best I've ever tried, and the garlic spread is AMAZING. Prices are great, especially if you go in a group and share the food, because portions can be relatively large. Service is also amazing, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend this place. It's the best Armenian/Middle Eastern food, especially if you're coming from the north side and don't want to drive all the way to Glendale/Burbank. Trust me, you won't regret it! read more

The beef kebab was the best I've ever had. I used to think that Raffi's in Glendale was unmatched when it came to Mediterranean food but this place tops it. Sucks that they only have pilaf rice, I usually order that one with cherries in it. But still, it was all good. This place has some authentic kebab. I haven't had any ground beef kebab as good as there. Mix it with some Lebni, rice and pita bread (fresh) and ur in heaven. Also noticed some other unique dishes. Oh gosh!!!! How come I didn't know about it before? Amazingly delicious food. Done JUST the way it's done in the Levant! Friendly staff, I've had my meals to go. The most interesting and real part is that we eat EVERYTHING, literally everything on the plates, the flavored onions, the pickles.. and that's very rare of us to do. Everything served is amazing and has just the right flavor its supposed to leave in the mouth. The seemingly very ordinary bread, the seemingly plain rice!!!
