Rice is so fluffy and buttery :)) with tabule, babagannush, and humus and they taste consistently so good. Today we tasted their lamb shish kebap and it was so tender, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. We finished our meal with ashta. We felt bad since we never tried it before. It's so milky/cheesy custard served with honey/syrup, berries and pistachio. It's so refreshing, and still sweet desert that has to be tasted. It's our new favorite desert for sure. I have been to Raffi's Place. I have been to naan and kebab. And I have had my fair share of kebabs. All of them are good, but this place is special in my heart. The price is still similar to 8 years ago when they first opened, and quality is still top notch. Muhamuran, tabulee, and the shish kebabs, non of them will disappoint. Make sure to try the muhamurans and the garlic butter. I have yet to find them anywhere else. The muhamuran, with the garlic paste, combined with the lamb shish kebab on a peta is just 1000000000 times better than with anything else. And the rice. With the garlic butter. It is absolutely fantastic. Also, the eggplant spread is better than Raffi's Place in my opinion. I dunno if it is appropriate to compare the this place to Raffi's since I know they are of two different ethnic origins. Today, we had the pleasure of a Sunday dinner at Kebab Halebi, with some old friends, one of whom is Armenian. In a small mall just West of the Sherman Way/Sepulveda corner gas station, it is a bit challenging to find but very convenient to the San Diego Freeway. The restaurant was busier than we expected, both with couples and large family groups, many of whom are apparently after-church regulars. Nevertheless, the staff were all suitably attentive, helpful and friendly. The meal was quite extraordinary, truly excellent food and far more than we are accustomed to having for lunch because every dish was as good as the one before. At the end, we were all delighted and not overly full, with few leftovers to take home. We began with an assortment of dips - hummus, babaganoush, zippy mouhamara, stuffed grape leaves (the best I ever had), an Armenian chopped salad - and baskets of pita bread before our entrees - lamb chops, and an assortment of kebobs: lamb, chicken and beef, served with buttery rice, roasted vegetables, more pita bread and an exquisite garlic sauce that I have managed never to see in a lifetime of travel around the globe. For dessert, we had delicious, homemade baklava and coffee - a choice of "American" or Armenian (the rich Cuban/Greek/Turkish style). Our Armenian friend was happy to see so many options from her childhood, and I was simply thrilled at how tasty everything was. We shall certainly return. I ordered take out but I would love to dine in too someday. The ambiance was really nice, I liked the warm lighting it was really cozy. The food was out of this world. I got the chicken thigh kebab plate and it was incredible. Juicy, flavorful and so fresh. I also got a garden salad which was so fresh and crunchy. We had lunch today and enjoyed every bite. It is located in a small shopping center which was a pain to find a parking spot. Inside is traditional and nobody was there as expected since we picked a time too late for lunch and too early for dinner. They had an upbeat Arabic music playing and we kind of enjoyed it. Amazing Syrian cuisine !! The Anta Kali kabob is ground beef skewers with roasted tomato and onions served with an incredible bread. They take red pepper paste, chili , pine nuts , onions, tomatoes and parsley and spread them on the bread. It is then grilled and served with rice and kabob. The blend of flavors from the spices, tomatoes and onions is phenomenal. There are many kabob places around the valley but this is your best bet for authentic Syrian cuisine !! This place is truly a hidden gem. So much flavor and the menu is full of amazing items. I've had pretty much everything on the menu by now and they are so consistent. Great service too always sweet and professional. My to die for items is the Adana kebab and the fried cheese pastry (can remember what it's called) but it's an hot appetizer and it's so freaking good you'll eat the whole damn plate by yourself. I also love that they allow you to order appetizers either full portion or half.
