This is a descendant of Provisions 1248 which was a victim of COVID. I loved the quirkiness of…read more1248, but Provisions Boucherie and Wine Bar carry on nicely. I miss the chalk board with the ten or 12 items the chef bought at the market that morning --that was the only clue on our what you would be eating. The new spot has a butcher shop and a meat oriented menu for the wine bar, but there are some other options (duck, scallops). I sat at the bar and just had a glass of a delicious red Austrian wine by the glass and the steak tartare. The chef is still inventive. The tartare had some feta mixed in with the herb laden and vinegar/mustard laced hand chopped beef. There was a deliciously dressed piece of radicchio on top and that was topped with a thin crispy fried wafer. Great little snack at the end of the day. Merci!

There are two tables outside that are covered in case of rain which is where we ended up sitting. We ordered the tasting menu ($60 per person) and a bottle of wine. I was very happy to know everything was local and many of the dishes were made in house. For the quality and quantity of food, it was a fair price. We started with super fresh oysters, a great tomato salad and some warm home made bread. Then came the sausages, the kebabs and the pork chops. Last but not least, your choice of homemade sorbet and ice cream! I would have to say my favourites were the beet salad that came with the pork chops, the sausages and the kebabs, the quality was really great! The nectarine sorbet was also amazing and new. I appreciated the fact that you get to take the whole pint of ice cream you pick, especially in the times of covid... Service was also very great and since there was no reservation after us we were able to stay as long as we liked to digest everything! Great place for a date night or a night out with friends.

My favorite in the world (for context, I was in NYC just a few weeks ago where I tried several from popular places). The sesame bagels here are slightly sweet on the outside with a rich, umami roasted sesame flavor from the seeds and wood firing. I recommend buying a tub of cream cheese or whatever other supplies you'd like from the cooler to make your own sandwich or to dip your bagel. Of course, they're great on their own, but a little chive cream cheese really brings it to the next level. I always stock up during each trip to Montreal and bring some to friends and family back home and everyone always looks forward to that!

Well, I had to find out for myself. The two bagels are very different. I may sound bias but the New York bagel is definitely better. That's not to say I didn't like the Montreal bagel, they're just not the same. The Montreal bagel tastes almost denser. We had the spicy everything bagel which is a first for me and a sesame bagel. Again, good. But I come from the home of bagels so it wasn't anything for me to write home about.

Unfortunately it didn't deliver. Every dish (I mean every dish) came in a bed of brown (bean?) sauce and had a pile of coriander on top. Fish, bean sauce and coriander. Eggplant, bean sauce and coriander. Beef and broccoli, bean sauce and coriander. The duck wraps, no bean sauce but the main accompaniment is coriander. There was really just one flavor profile across the entire meal, bean sauce and coriander. The service was slow (we had to cancel a second drink order because we were done eating before they arrived), and the music is waaaay too loud. The room looks good but I'd take good food over a hip room any day. Disappointing!

I love their sesame noodles and the garlic fried rice, and the duck is great to share with a small group. Everything is always delicious and high quality. However my last visit was very strange - the waitress brought out a candle on a little figurine saying "well since you didnt order dessert, but happy birthday" - I was really confused, and even asked her if my husband indicated it was my birthday in the reservation (she confirmed he didnt), but she had noticed our other friend at the table had given me a gift bag. Anyways, I reacted with polite confusion and a "thank you" and thought that was that, but was very disappointed to come up from the bathroom and hear her openly trash-talking me to the other staff in the kitchen adjacent to the stairs to the bathroom, about how I wasnt nice about the candle? Like lady, I had a small bag that was a condolence gift, on my way back from putting my dog to sleep, and never was rude even once? Its not like we asked for it or wanted it. We'll ask for a different waitstaff next time and continue to come in - we do really love the restaurant, just had a very bizarre evening with our waitress.

Thank god I found it because one large chicken + chorizo poutine can feed my hungry wife and I and we even have leftovers! The fries are fresh, crispy, and the gravy is made with drippings of their own rotating rotisserie chicken. The chorizo sausage is barbecued to perfection. Did I mention they give you a lot of food for the price!? They also have a beautiful bakery with Bolas, strawberry cheesecake, and other fresh-made bakery items. They also have great service, with friendly cashiers, and the quality of food is 6 out of 5 stars. It's my favorite place and I come here almost once a week. They are passionate about their food and generous, and if you don't feel like paying up-the-arse for delicious Portuguese chicken Romados is the place for you. It's homey, they have spicy and mild Piri Piri sauce to choose from, the fries are tasty but not too salty, Chicken Salad is really delicious, and furthermore, they have family options, rice, potatoes, and you can order a half or quarter chicken, as well as other options like soup and barbecue pork (also very good). Thank you Romados!

The patis de nata (I believe) would taste much better if it was heated. We bought it from the case. Otherwise, the service was fast, friendly and efficient.
