Standout grilled chicken with a great teriyaki sauce, not too sweet with a touch of mirin. Might be homemade? If it isn't, it's a really good commercial version. Salmon roll is huge, but you can do a half order. Service is phenomenal. I think I was asked how I was doing by 3 different staff. Others got the same level of service, whether they were dining in or ordering out. Music is great as well. Cash gets you the 4% discount already in the menu and there's a weekday lunch special. *Bonus observation: clean restroom, but what's up with the SQUARE toilet? Had the Nigiri today. It was Awful!!!! Its supposed to be one good thick slice of tuna and/or salmon... Its was several thin slices, cut wrong! on a tinsy winsy bit of rice. We were on the hunt for some good ol sushi for a late late late lunch, this place popped up, and so we decided to try it out. We walked in and we were the only ones there. It was 3pm, Thursday, and it was very quiet. As soon as we entered, the friendly waitress told us to pick a table and she let us know that she would be right on over. The waitress took our drink orders and brought them out right away. We looked over the menu and there are other dishes as well besides sushi. We decided on getting one Vegas roll, a California roll, an order of gyozas, and a miso soup. The gyozas were delicious and we could definitely taste that they were freshly made. We did see an employee sitting down and making them by hand. The miso soup was pretty good and so was the California roll. The Vegas roll is huge (enough to share) and and it comes in a big plate. The Vegas roll didn't cut it for me since all I could taste was the overpowering flavor of the cucumber. The Vegas roll is a no for me here. Service was great! read more

I'm a huge sushi fanatic and I have never seen tuna so dark. I purchased one nigiri tuna and one special tuna roll, and the colors were completely different. I have been here before and purchased the same tuna roll, and I was satisfied at that point. This makes me second guess this place since there is a sushi virus going around lately. After I mentioned it to the waitress, the sushi chef denied she didnt use the same tuna as my nigiri. She didn't even offer to replace my roll with a fresher tuna. I don't think I'm wrong for giving it two stars. I would have given it one but since my first experience wasn't bad I didn't want to base this review on just my experience this time. For this dark tuna roll and Nigiri I paid $16.00. It was a waste of money to me since I didnt eat it. I think its best to stick to their Teriyaki, since thats what they're mostly famous for. Maybe I was just unlucky this time, but this gave me a realization that I shouldn't eat sushi in El Paso. read more

Somedays (okay, once a week) I have a craving for seafood, veggies and rice. It's convenient that some genius decided to wrap these all up in seaweed and top them with other things I love like Siracha. Everything good about life is wrapped up in bite-sized pieces of sushi and anyone who says different is a communist. And thus my constant hunt for the 5 star sushi joint in EP. 3 stars, yes, but at the moment Kee's is my go to. This location is kind of hole-in-the-wall, but I'm not mad at it. It may even be a bit dated. There's maybe ten tables and there's a few seats at the sushi bar itself (although I've never actually seen anyone sit there). Above the tables there's paper lanterns. The soda fountain proudly sits on the counter to the right, but you'll never touch it...you know cause the waitresses are great! And the place is small. From my quick visual that I'm trying to give, I think you can understand why I couldn't rate Kee's above a 3. But I come for the rolls. And the Miso Soup. All time favorite roll from KT is the Caterpillar Roll! And yes it does have a "filler ingredient" avocado, but anyone who acts like the addition of avocado or cream cheese to sushi is a bad thing is out if line. You want straight fish with rice? Order Nigiri! Enough of that, but the eel really is killer at KT and it doesn't hurt that it fulfills my strange addiction to eel sauce. If you like to stick with the more simple rolls, I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of the Spicy Tuna!!! And the panko fried rolls...very different then what typically shows up on my table when I order a fried roll, but I like 'em. I may even go as far to say I love 'em! They're completely covered in panko which makes them perfect for dipping in sauces without fear of them falling apart. Most of the rolls are big enough, yet still bite-sized, but the pankos are two bites fer sure. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'll let you know when I figure it out. They do plate the rolls nicely, but there usually on plastic plates.........so ya. If you're lucky enough to be in KT when the owner is there, make sure you talk her up (although she'll probably start the convo because she really is that involved with her business). She's the sweetest lady and will recommend the best dishes (so whatever she's cooking). The rest of the staff is great as well. All smiles and helpful, no complaints there. I love Kee's and I'll always be a regular! It's definitely a neighborhood fave, I just want more from it. But I'll never stop going! read more

I approached this place with an open mind since I had had limited experiences with sushi and they were not that good. The place is pleasant and clean and the lady behind the counter was very friendly. She recommended the Miso soup along with our crab rangoons. Both were amazingly tasty! We ordered the Nigri Combo so that I could sample the salmon, shrimp, tuna, eel and white fish and an order of spicy California rolls. OMG! The universe made it up to me with for with this food! I as highly satisfied needless to say. I was amazed to realize the eel became a quick favorite! The rest were quick to follow. The white fish however, was very bland and from what I understand this is about right. It wasn't bad though don't get me wrong but now I know those will not be in my next order. Choosing the sampler was the exact thing I needed! I will come back and try the teriyaki dishes as the couple sitting next to us were very enjoying their those too. So glad we ran across this place! If you're on the east side, I def recommend this place. For being a quick sit down sushi place, my wife and I were very impressed. I got the Hawaiian Roll and she got the Spicy Tuna roll. First of all, it came out looking beautiful! And it all tasted amazing to boot! Fair price for most things. There is a 20 dollar roll that I think was so much due to having BBQ eel in it. The waitress was very polite and friendly, very attentive... I can't say anything bad about this place. The reviews are deceiving and I know opinions don't always matter but all I can say is that it was just okay. We came in for lunch and we were the only ones there until about 20 min before we left. We got the bento boxes and I must say the California rolls were FRESH but has an odd taste to them. The chicken was ok- sauce didn't taste like teriyaki but the rice was great! Called for take out on a weekday at noon. The place was nearly empty, I was told 15 min wait but it was ready before hen. I purchase the Las Vegas roll and it was delicious. The salmon wasn't super fishy but it was a little more than I like. The roll itself was great. The avocado was fresh and the cucumber added to the light taste. I asked for sauces on the side and they did just that. The only suggestion I have for take out is ask for wasabi. There was none in there and I was sad when I got home. read more

If you want a casual and inexpensive meal, definitely consider Kee's. They serve pretty much any of the most popular items you would find at a Japanese restaurant: katsu, tempura, yakisoba, sushi, ramen soup, and obviously teriyaki. When my boyfriend and I walked in it was empty and the owner warmly greeted us and helped us decide what we wanted. He was happy to answer any questions I had and seemed to really appreciate our business. Pretty soon after we had ordered, other people started coming in and filling up the place. I tried the bento box combo ($9.99 I believe) so I could try several things at once here. It came with chicken and beef teriyaki, which I asked for spicy medium. I found this the perfect amount of heat for me, and the meat was delicious. I did prefer the chicken slightly over the beef. There were 2 gyozas which I enjoyed much more than I thought I would. Also came with your choice of rice (I opted for classic sticky, but they give you the option of brown or fried), a marinated salad which was pretty good, and 4 california rolls, which were huge. Easily two big bites per roll. My boyfriend tried the chicken katsu with brown rice (less than 8 bucks) and it was superb. Kee's also offers an impressive side order menu, including seaweed salad, which I love. Normally Japanese places are on the expensive to very expensive side, so if you want some great tasting Japanese fare in a casual setting, definitely give Kee's a try. We will be back! read more

Kee's has THE BEST sushi in El Paso. Their panko fried sushi is sooooooo good. The Caterpillar roll and the Dragon roll are probably my favorites. =] Now granted, this isn't the most extravagant sushi place I've ever been to. But its not always about the aesthetics. When I order sushi, I just want something delicious. And this place delivers every single time. I've met the owner and she is incredibly nice. She's given me free gyoza at times and she's very friendly with everyone that comes through. I've been to most sushi places in El Paso, if not all, and I still believe that Kee's has the best sushi in El Paso. It might just be because I'm a sucker for their panko fried rolls but regardless, I thoroughly enjoy myself every time I come here. But they have more than sushi! Believe it or not, the owner is Korean and they actually have some incredibly delicious korean food items on the menu like their spicy chicken teriyaki (which comes in 3 levels of spiciness) and their beef teriyaki items (all of which have a very korean flavor to them). I also enjoy their miso soup quite a bit. It doesn't seem like a difficult thing to make but I've been to some places that have definitely missed the mark when it comes to their miso soup - but kee's does it right. Just note that their ramen is nothing special. It comes straight from a package and the cheese is just kraft singles which was a little disappointing but if you've never had ramen with an egg and cheese in it then you're missing out. And being that it is incredibly cheap if you're not wanting to spend a ton of money then definitely try the ramen with an egg and cheese and beef. read more

So I stopped by for the first time, it was around 4:00 pm and I was as hungry as can be! I was unsure of what to order since their menu options are plentiful but a tray sampler of some sort definitely won me over.. This tray consisted of: chicken teriyaki,beef teriyaki,spring roll dumplings and a ginger salad.I must admit this meal was delicious and hearty; so much that I went the next day with my little brother for another one! Great Sushi at very reasonable prices. Just what I want. Staff and Chefs are friendly. They provide large portions and take out is quick. The only down side is the decor is lacking. I am torn on my review for this business. I want to give it high stars for the customer service alone. It also seemed like a place that was barely hanging on from a business perspective and I want to do them justice. Although not the best Japanese I have had, the food did have some flavor. Pros: -They had multiple options for the sauce temperature for their teriyaki to suit varying taste buds -Everyone here was SOOO darn friendly -Reasonably priced -Food was tasty enough and the portions were plenty Cons: -It took FOREVER for them to make our rolls. We were told 10-15 minutes but it turned out to be about 30-35 minutes -The variety of rolls is limited and everything seems to have a sauce or cream with it. We had the Philadelphia Roll and Ki's Special Roll. My BF said the Philly one was fine. While my Ki roll was okay, I had to ask for the extra sauces on the side as I don't like my rolls covered in goop. The problem with the Ki roll is that they fry it. I kept biting into unidentifiable crunchy items and I think it was the shrimp that had been fried and killed. Because it has tempura shrimp in the middle, they have to fry the shrimp and then fry the roll. My recommendation would be to lessen the time on the tempura fry so that the shrimp doesn't overcook. -While they looked fine to me, my BF complained that the kalbi ribs were not properly prepared. He is our resident Hawaii/Korea snob and knows his kalbi. I would have to agree that the cut seemed a little bit off but he said that the overall flavor was still fine Because the owner here was no darn nice and it is a local business, I will be sure to give this place another try. The food was good enough and will do in a pinch. Riyoma has been our go-to place for sushi but their prices can be high and their service just as slow. We are both spolied by fabulous sushi eateries (me L.A. and him Hawaii) so we tend to be a little tougher on places outside of that. If you are in the neighborhood, give this place a try. And be warned, the medium sauce had a kick to it and I will definitely go for the mild next time. read more
