I got my suit drycleaned for an event on the weekend. They said pick it up friday. They close at 6pm, so I figured I'd go after work. They call me at 3:45pm Friday saying if I don't come now they will be closed for the next week. I showed up at 4:40pm and they were closed. That's BS and unprofessional. read more

Review #1061 I decided to give this place a try after reading its subpar reviews, and I am glad that I picked this dry clean place. I had to dry clean a down winter coat (Canada Goose, $45 plus tax) and a regular winter coat (~$23 plus tax). The drop-off and pick-up processes were both easy and smooth. You pay at pick-up. I don't have lots of dry cleaning experience, but the price seems reasonable to me. There is only one Korean lady working there, who is friendly. I asked about the 20% discount for Yelpers, and she said they no longer offer this deal. However, she was glad to give me a 10% off as a first-time customer. My clothing items came back nice and clean. I would use them again. read more

Reviewing because these folks did me a solid! I was back in town for college reunion and desperately needed to get my stained white dress dry cleaned within 24 hours for an event. This was around 2 pm on a Friday and I needed the dress back by 8 pm on Sat. After first trying Hillside Cleaners (the lady there just laughed and said, "Good luck finding anyone who can do that for you"), I ran here. Although it required the very nice Korean lady at the counter to do a little more than usual, she was able to get the job done ASAP, all with a smile on her face. I'm gonna call it the Harvard Square Miracle. My dress came back crisp and clean! There's a reason I'll always support immigrant-owned businesses. Thanks so much for helping me out! read more

I dropped off my suit for my college graduation and I was told it would be ready on Monday. But when I went to pick it up, they told me it'd actually be done on Wednesday, two whole days after the original pick up date. Too late for my graduation. Been here on three separate occasions to pick up dry cleaning during their posted hours and they haven't been there. Also, they have (had?) two sets of hours on their door-- one saying they open at 8:30 and one much smaller, actually accurate one saying they open at 9. Well, that made me late to pick up a friend for a funeral, which was pretty sweet. read more

Let me start by saying I've never had alterations done here, just dry cleaning, so can't comment on the alternation issues that some people have mentioned. What I can tell you is that I've been bringing my clothes here for almost 2 years, and have never had a problem with damage, lost items, anything like that. The staff is always helpful and courteous, and the turnaround time is pretty standard for the industry. Prices are reasonable, haven't found anywhere that can match the quality at that price. So yeah, I love having a dry cleaner that I never have to worry about - one less stressful thing in my life! read more

First of all, let me say that the people who run this place are really nice, and give great customer service... There's just one small problem: their dry cleaning service just isn't that good. I took in a cream silk dress with a red wine stain on it one time and they warned me in advance that they might not be able to get it out - and they didn't. But why then charge me full price?? I incidentally then took the dress to another dry cleaners who did in fact get the stain out and charged me less money. I totally understand that red wine is a tough stain to remove but I've also taken in articles of clothing that have been returned to me dirtier than when I took them in. 2 stars because the people are so nice, unfortunately the actual service they perform is so poor that it's hard to give more. read more

Management responded to my comment from about a decade ago... in response to the claim that the issue was a language barrier. I spoke to the owners in Korean. And they told me my product was cheap in Korean. I'm bilingual. This wasn't a cheap fabric, the color didn't fade. Your process ruined my silk blouse, I've been to other dry cleaners so I know it wasn't my blouse. What would help is you admitting that you messed up and that you're more careful now. Not trying to blame me by claiming I didn't understand what happened. It's dry cleaning, it's not that complicated. You bring your item in, you don't expect to get it back ruined. read more

Though this place doesn't do anything extraordinary, this is certainly a good, reliable place. They are always efficient and I have never had a problem with getting my things back on time. Especially given that they have a captive audience of Harvard students, they keep their standards pretty high and do a good job with what they are given. Admittedly, I think they could try a bit harder to get stains out but as long as your clothing isn't covered in them, you should be pleased with the results. I am normally pretty lenient for commodity services like dry cleaning and laundromats. I am reviewing the tailoring here, however. I brought in a brand new jacket to be tailored. They had to take in the waist of a jacket about 6". When I got it home and unbagged it, I noticed several brand new stains on my jacket. I immediately returned it to Cambridge Cleaners, and asked how they got stains on my jacket when they only needed to tailor it. They insisted that I must have stained it in the quarter mile between their store and my apartment. It had been only 20 minutes since I had left. The stains were completely dry and set in. It was clear that there was no way I could have got anything on them, and have it dry and set in that time. They still tried to charge me $13 additional for cleaning of the stains they put on the jacket. I asked for my jacket back, saying I did not trust them with it. They again insisted that I put the stains on there in the walk to and from my apartment. The tailoring also was only alright. I would suggest avoiding this place if you can help it. read more

The people here know who you are, especially if you go to school nearby. They knew me by name after the first few visits, and knew what I was coming in to pick up, even before I handed them the slip of paper. I would walk in and they would say, "Oh, your yellow shirt is here." They would also comment that a lot of my "brothers and sisters" (House-mates,) also went to them. The personal touch is fantastic. They also pay close attention to tiny details. I had a RL shirt that had a make-up stain on it that was about 1 cm in length and 3 mm in width. The first time, this stain wasn't removed so they sent it back. I'm waiting to see whether it has been removed now but they are extremely conscious of quality. They also use organic dry cleaning. This is better for the environment and for you. You don't want to put that many harsh chemicals in close contact with your skin. A soy-based cleaner is a good alternative and I do not believe the price is higher due to usage of organic dry cleaning processes. The turnaround time is standard. read more

They're fine. Never leave your shirts with your collar stays in because they will definitely lose them. Sometimes my clothes aren't done exactly on time, but at least they've never been lost. They do a horrible job at removing stains. The pressing job is OK, but not best in class. I don't know - they're alright, but I'm not impressed. They're also not open on Sundays, which can be a bummer for me. read more

I have never used this company for dry cleaning but I have used them to hem a pair of trousers for my favorite suit - it was awful! You could see every stitch. On the plus side, they refunded my order with only about 5 or 10 minutes of debate. The location is convenient but the prices are not the best in Boston and I did not have a good experience with my hem job... read more

The business owner responded to address my concerns over 7 years after they had several mishaps with my dry cleaning needs. Their comment is to have addressed my concerns with them, which I actually did in person several times and they did not take any steps to correct the poor service or poor customer management. I would strongly suggest to stay away from this place. I had my suit dry cleaned, and got it back without one button. It was just ripped off. They refused to take responsibility, refused to compensate or refund me, and offered instead to just replace all the buttons in my suit with some wore down and inappropriate buttons they had in the back. I really wanted to like this place - it's convenient, inexpensive and the staff is always nice - but I guess you get what you pay for. I would avoid it at all costs. read more

I'm not sure why Cambridge Cleaners has gotten such horrible reviews - they do the on-campus cleaning at Harvard Business School (they come a few times a week to do drop offs and pick ups) and I always found them reliable and fairly priced. They usually seem to be able to get out most of the stains I tell them about and charge the going rate. Plus it saves me having to lug my dry cleaning across the river - priceless. read more

Great cleaners at a reasonable price. One story in particular: I had brought a tux shirt in to be dry cleaned, and didn't realize that the location would be closed the day of the event until I went to pick it up that morning. I called the owner (his number was posted on the store), and he helped me get the shirt and sent me on my way. Great guy, and he saved me a trip to the store for a new shirt! Fantastic experience that time, and every time I've used them since. As one other note, they also apparently use "green" cleaners, though quite frankly, they get bigger points from me for being convenient, decently priced, and for having a great product and service level. read more

Awful. I took my tux shirt to get washed/ pressed and pointed it out it had a few stains. The woman (wife) told me that she could get them out. I pick up the shirt, inspect it and see the stains are still there, though lighter. I start inspecting the shirt and the man (husband) starts getting super defensive telling me it's my fault there are stains and they can't make me a new shirt. I point out I was not blaming him and merely evaluating whether I needed to go buy a new shirt and he continued to attack me and told me to pay and leave. I told him his customer service was terrible (I had seen someone with a similar problem when in the store a month earlier) and he told me he didn't need me as a customer. Sounds good to me. D*ck. Looking at my shirt more closely now I see that they actually made it dirtier on the sleeves that when I had taken it in. Great. read more

the prices are good here, and the service is great. i like that i can drop stuff off on way to work/pick up on way home (I live in Central Sq, work in Harvard Sq). they did a great job with one of my jackets - so as not to damage the natural buttons, they took them off, cleaned the jacket, and re-attached them -- all at no extra cost. now that's attention to detail and good customer service. read more

These guys were amazing! I brought in a dress the day before an event, and even though it wasn't done when I went in the next day, they finished it quickly and the manager drove it over to the store so I could wear it that night. I'm never going to any other Cambridge dry cleaner. read more

Before I ever realized that Cambridge Cleaners did the on-site pick-up/drop-off of cleaning at the Harvard Business School, I went to them to get two pairs of new (expensive) jeans altered. Both pairs needed to be hemmed, one needed to be altered at the waist. One pair was to be worn with heals, the other pair with flats. They hemmed both pairs too short. Thus, the pair to be warn with heals (Rock & Republics) was salvageable. Unfortunately, the other pair (Sevens) was not.... I even took them to my parent's dry cleaner in Naperville, IL and while they tried, it was just not enough. Now, I'd probably be more upset if I had paid full price for the jeans, but if I remember correctly they were on-sale and I had rewards from my old Corporate AMEX. So, in the end I got one good pair of jeans for full price... Since then, I have been *forced* into dry cleaning with Cambridge Cleaners as it is the only reasonably convenient option for an HBS student. They have always done a fine job with dry cleaning, even on delicate pieces such as party dresses and thin, sparkly cardigans. The owner has made me sign away their liability for such items a few times. After my initial experience I was only willing to do this out of desperation, but thus far I haven't had a problem. Therefore, I would say DO NOT get anything altered here... However, in a pinch the dry cleaning services do suffice. read more

Never had a bad experience with these guys and used them sporadically for a couple years. I believe it's owned by an Asian couple who also do all the tailoring themselves, but I could be wrong about this. Anyway, anything I've need dry cleaned has come back perfectly and on time, and I once had the sleeves of a coat tailored well, and for a reasonable price. This one time I brought in a huge bunny suit and it made their day. They thought it was the funniest thing in the world. I think they also gave me a good price, but I can't quite remember what (it was a couple years ago). read more

This is a great place for dependable dry cleaning. I've been going here for four years and they have always had very quick turn around with very friendly service. The owner James is a great person and has always been going the extra mile. I'm not sure why some people have had bad reviews. It could be that they have had tough stains or repairs and expect to turn a permanently stained dress to be like new. I gave these guys a try after moving to the area, and had multiple poor experiences. They were closed at random times, ignored me while they chatted on the phone, and took 2 weeks to tell me they couldn't sew a pocket! 1st visit: Tried to to drop off clothes, but they were closed at 3pm in the middle of their business hours. Just a "we'll be back" sign. A little frustrating while I waited 45minutes for them to return. 2nd visit: Came to pick up my clothes, and was ignored for 10 minutes while the employee had an entertaining conversation on the phone. I tried to wave him up to the front of the store twice, but he just waved back. 3rd visit: An alteration was supposed to be ready on Friday, then Monday, then Wednesday. Finally they admitted they hadn't even started on the job yet, and asked if they could use a different color fabric. Apparently they don't carry "white". Wow. I just asked them to return my clothes and haven't looked back since. read more

Dress shirts are often not cleaned very well (fuzz and other stuff on them). I asked whether they could dry clean a suit within three days, so it'd be ready for a special event, and they said yes. The day of the event, the suit was not only uncleaned, but was off site, such that I couldn't even get it back uncleaned. When I eventually got it back, they charged full price. There are better cleaners in Harvard Square that are worth the extra 5 minute walk... read more

The 2009 Unofficial Harvard Guide does not list dry cleaning prices. When I called, the man answering the phone refused to tell me the price to dry clean wool slacks. He refused to give any pricing information, despite my repeated requests, even after my comment that a business shouldn't have any problem stating its prices. He dismissively added: "we are not the cheapest and you would not come here anyway." Alas, I can't give him zero stars, but I can give him zero dollars! I'll be taking my numerous wool coats, slacks, sweaters, and suits elsewhere. read more

This is a very convenient location with a very mediocre service. It's not uncommon that you walk in and have to wait 10 minutes for someone to emerge from the back office. While I have actually not had any real issues with the basic dry cleaning service, the first and only time a brought an item to be altered, they actually forgot to do the alteration, which left me in a jam. The people are nice, but I would rather them be mean as cat turd if it meant the reliability factor would increase. read more

Giving this place three stars because it's average. I go because it's the closest dry cleaner to me and I like that they use "green" cleaner (I assume is better for environment). It's fairly simple (e.g. they type receipts with a type-writer type machine which is probably slower than more modern places) - a somewhat run down feel and appears to be a family operation. It seems a little pricey for the service but perhaps it's the going rate in downtown Cambridge. They have done a fine job with the clothes. read more

I took two pairs of pants to be hemmed: A pair of trouser jeans as well as some thicker dress pants). Fairly quick turn-around (dropped them off on Sat, was able to pick one pair up on Thur. and the other the following Sat.) -- They charged me $28 which seems pretty reasonable. The pants were returned to me pressed and everything and as for the hemming itself: the stitching looks solid and they did a great job matching colors etc. read more

Terrible, don't bring your suits here! Day 1: I bring in my suit and ask how long it will take to get it cleaned-up, keeping in mind that there were a few food stains (not huge, but noticeable) on it. I was told to come by the next day. Day 2: I come by to pick up my suit and it isn't ready at the time I was told 2pm so I said I'd come back later. .. no biggie. I come back later that evening and the suit looks nice....except for every single stain on the coat... I pointed the stains out and the nice young woman (they are nice, I'll give them that) said they'd re-do it at no charge, but that it would take three days to get those stains out... I agreed bc I didn't need the suit right away.. but if logic dictates, wasn't i told it would take three days to get the stains out in the first place? Whatever, I gave them the benefit of the doubt.. They put stain stickers on the offending spots(as they did the first time) and it was taken away. Day 6: I gave them an extra day and went to pick up the suit. Stains STILL there exactly as I left them. I asked very nicely how/why and got, "sorry they didn't come out." I waited for " we'll discount the cleaning because we didn't really clean it" , but no...they charged me full price and yielded no apology. I walked away upset... and straight into another dry cleaners around the corner and asked about the stains...she said they could be removed but that it would take a couple days to work with the material. I believed her and then realized that Cambridge Cleaners probably never bothered with the stains the first time around.. Bottom line. save your money and take your suits to a professional establishment. read more
