My dog started barking at the window around 1030a CT . I thought it was another fly. Turned out to be two bees. I killed them and then he started barking again, then another bee came in. I got suspicious and then went outside to check the perimeter. Found many bees circling around the top of the door. Then I came in and called Aptive Pest Control to come out for emergency service. They told me they don't do bees because they're protected by Texas. However, they gave me the list of people who could help. One of them was Keith. Then I called Keith and left a VM to call back asap. An hour later, I get a call back saying that they could come out but it would be an hour or so. The charge is $250 if bees are only on the outside and $350 if there are bees on the inside. The service includes removing any wood that they went in/behind, vacuuming bees, fumigating or deodorizing, then stuffing with insulation, closing back up the area, making it aesthetically as flush as they can with the surrounding area. Chris, the removal specialist was here in about 1.5 hrs, around 3p CT. He finally left around 6p. It took him three hours to finish the job. There are bees still there but he said thousands came out from his vacuuming. There was maybe a quarter inch of a comb that had started. He took that out too. Warranty on the Bee work today is for 1 yr on the work they did in the spot they did it. Chris said the bees would eventually go 7 - 10 days later. Took 12 days for the bees to leave completely. TLDR: They have deceptive business practices with a smile. I've used this company twice. I got my bushes sprayed last year. I called back this year when bees started showing up on it. I mentioned I got them sprayed less than a year ago and mentioned the warranty. The man on the phone checked the date I got a spray last and agreed. They came out a couple days later (as soon as available) and sprayed my bush. It was effective. They then wanted me to pay. Kieth claimed he quoted me a price over the phone which is a blatant lie and said warrant on spray is only 6 months even though directly on their website it advertises a 1 year guarantee. We found a bee hive in a tall red oak that blew over. Keith sent a technician who vacuumed up a large number of bees to be rehomed to a new hive. He then sealed the 1" entry hole. The remaining bees used alternative entry points which were progressively sealed after more visits for treatment. Then Keith the came out personally and cut wedges out of the trunk to expose the old comb which ran for approx 12 feet up the hollow tree, probably housing 60,000 to 80,000 bees when the tree blew down. Do not trust these guys with brick removal. I had some bees behind a brick wall and they said they would be very careful and wouldn't break any bricks removing part of brick wall. When they started, I saw the guy break bricks. I told them to stop and the worker called the owner or whoever, and he said their mason guy would be able to find the right bricks. I trusted them and let them proceed. They broke many bricks, and in the end, the mason guy couldn't find the right bricks because they don't make them anymore. Now my former nice wall has mismatched bricks. That's all unfortunate for me. I tried to do the right thing by saving the bees and maybe it would of been worth it, BUT the guy didn't even attempt to save the bees, he put them in a trash bag and sprayed them. I had a yellow jacket wasp nest develop on the inside of my stone exterior wall of my house. They got in through weep holes.
