This is my favourite Asian gelato spot in Toronto. I loved the location that was at Spadina and queen. I've been coming there for many years and I had a lot of points redeemed. My favourite flavours are the jasmine green tea and the Jong king milk tea. The flavours are so strong and they don't taste like it's store bought. You can truly tell that they make theirs from scratch. My family also loved the durian flavour. It's a flavour that I don't see often in gelato spots. I'll definitely come back whenever I'm in the area and in warmer weather. The only cons is that it's more of a takeout spot. The older location had dine in options and plenty of spots to sit and eat. This is perfect for winter since you don't wanna eat ice cream in the cold.
Kekou is located along Yonge, between Finch Station and North York Centre Station along the subway line. I've been to their locations when they opened in Baldwin Village as well as around Queen and Spadina. This Kekou location is takeout only where you order via a kiosk in the store. I've been here plenty of times. Kekou is well known for their take on Asian-inspired gelato flavours (think black sesame, durian, green tea, jasmine, HK milk tea, etc.). Personally, my favourite is the jasmine tea. You can also purchase pints as well if you'd like. During the many times I've been here, the kiosk ordering is efficient and service is fast. The gelato tastes great on a hot summer day. Sometimes I find that some flavours sell out quickly which is unfortunate. Overall, great Asian-inspired gelato shop, great for a sweet treat on a hot day. Staff are friendly and the service is quick!
Kekou is another ice cream gem in Toronto known for goes beyond the typical ice cream flavours. They have a great variety of classic Asian ice cream flavours such HK milk tea, Thai tea, and more! Sample Trio ($9): I shared this trio sample with friends. It was perfect for those who are indecisive and wanted to try more than one flavour. We tried out HK milk tea, Jasmine tea and Coconut. The tea based flavours all had strong tea flavours which I liked and the coconut was exactly what I expected in a pleasant way. Unfortunately their popular Downtown location is closed but the North York location is easily accessible close to Finch station. The shop only operates with through tablet ordering to minimize contact. The shop is small and more of a takeout place however there are some seating areas outside around the area. It's a great location to stop by for desserts after some good food in the area!
Pretty good but a bit overhyped. Kekou is ok but I've had better. I think my main problem is I like my flavours strong, and Kekou is a bit too subtle for me. I like how they tried to innovate - gelato on a bed of tapioca, a "flight" consisting of three flavours, etc - but at the end of the day, for me it's about how much I like the gelato. Tried 4 flavours: almond tofu, rosewater pistachio, durian, HK milk tea. I liked the durian the most because, while it was subtly flavoured like the rest, it at least had a strong aftertaste kick at the end. Anyway , Kekous wasn't bad, just personally not for me. Hope you enjoy it more!
Made a final stop (after dinner) dessert before ending the night. Grabbed a cup of Vietnamese caffee ice cream. The ice cream is smooth. One person behind the counter doing everything but don't let her fool you. She was very efficient and gave us a generous portion of the ice cream. Well done!
So when you feel down and absolutely crappy, what is better then having a Gelato for lunch. They are known for the gelato. I miss this store located at Queen St. West. Now it's amazing, how it's nice and close to where I live, walking distance. There is one touch screen where you select your owner and make the payment. Nice and fast process. I've always liked the milk tea one so of course I ordered one scoop of this again. Nice and smooth and not too sweet. Maybe I will need to refuel again after work!

They setup a couple of systems for customers to place their order and pay which is perfect for contactless order. It's very efficient and safe for days like these now! I ordered their rosewater pistachio flavoured ice cream. I was a little disappointed as I feel the pistachio flavour isn't strong enough. It felt like they put too much milk and diluted the flavour. I'm not sure if it's a one off situation, but I will give them a second chance.
Their original location on Queen St West and Baldwin Ave downtown closed, and they operate here on Yonge St in North York now. Same familiar ice cream flavours that cater to asians and non asians alike. I enjoy the Pistachio and Almond Tofu flavours in particular! Ability to order using a self serve kiosk on a tablet device inside the store, then you wait for them to call your name to pick up your order. Prices have gone up since the past few years. Street parking along Yonge and side streets.
This review is for their rosewater pistachio. Pistachio gelato is my favourite so I was excited to try it! You can definitely taste the rosewater but the pistachio flavour is very mild. I was also expecting for chunks of pistachio through the gelato but it was just a creamy consistency all through. I have had better pistachio gelato before so I would rate this gelato 3.5/5 rounded to 4 due to Kekou's quick and easy service.
So so incredibly happy there's a location in North York now! Kekou has always been my go to ice cream place downtown and now that I can get there in 10 mins I'll definitely be back more often. The shop is small but ordering has been super smooth - they setup 2 tablets that you can order on yourself and pay so it's contactless. The menu of flavours can be found on the iPad as well as on the wall so you have photos for reference before ordering. Once you've ordered, you wait outside until they call your name for your order. My go to is always Durian and Jasmine Green Tea - the flavour in both is just so so spot on, it's an intense durian flavour and isn't too subtle, just the way I'd expect and the jasmine is nice and floral and refreshing. I love that their ice creams are such a large portion, definitely worth the money for the size and unique flavours!
My second time here since they opened, and I wished they have more flavours or even alternate flavours. Their downtown location has a larger variety which I love (i.e hojicha, sesame, red bean, etc)

My friend and I visited their new spot. I got 2 scoops in a cup - Earl Grey and Hazelnut Goji Berry. I had to get my hands on their boba too so I got their Hojicha Milk Tea with tapioca. Earl Grey: Price: $4.60 Rating: 9/10 This was my fave flavour - it was rich and you could really taste the earl grey. It had a strong and authentic earl grey taste Hazelnut Goji Berry: Price: $4.60 Rating: 7.5/10 This was an interesting combo of nuts and berries; I recommend if you like nuts and berries. I liked this flavour but it was a bit too sweet for me Hojicha Milk Tea: Price: $4.60 Rating: 7.5/10 This was a refreshing and tasty drink. I felt like this drink wasn't as rich compared to other drinks I've had All in all, it was a great experience and I definitely want to try more of their ice-cream flavours but I'm not the biggest fan of their bubble tea. Have tried their permanent flavours before (black sesame, HK milk tea, viet coffee) and some of the sorbet (I believe it was the soursop). They all were filled with flavour and I always enjoy them especially during summer. This time we tried their gochugaru chocolate. I've had jalapeno chocolate before and it was a nice surprise. The gelato had a good amount of gochu flakes in it so it wasn't too overpowering and paired well with the coldness of the chocolate ice cream. read more
Good spot of gelato. You order on the kiosk then wait for your order to be made/scooped. They offer very solid gelato choices. We got the viet coffee and almond tofu. Both were not too sweet, very subtle sweetness, and packed with flavour. Scoops here are a bit pricey, I paid about $8-9 for 2 scoops but that is pretty standard now these days. read more

I love gelato from Kekou so when I saw they were selling bubble tea too, I knew I had to try. Unfortunately, I was not a huge fan of this Saigon Fog bubble tea. The tapioca was soo sweet like they stayed in brown sugar syrup too long and it made my whole drink taste mostly like syrup. read more
One of my favourite ice cream places. I for sure miss the Queen St. Location, (**which is where my pic was taken** lol don't kill me). I've been to the north york location a few times. My favourite would be the HK milk tea, the earl grey and DURIAN! lol I love house made ice cream a lot, not so much soft serve. I'm so glad that kekou is still around cause the flavours are off the charts. Notable flavours I would also suggest trying would be the rosewater pistachio and the Thai Tea . lol A lot of tea infused flavours... I hope one day they can make a "white rabbit" flavour. :) read more

I love kekou! I loved their downtown location and was super excited to try this location here at yonge/finch. Peanut Sesame, Jasmine green tea and goji berry are a must get flavor. Would pass on the HK milk tea and Vietnamese coffee as they aren't super strong. Honestly, I think there are other ice cream shops that are better in general, but for an area super saturated in boba shops, this is great for someone wanting ice cream instead. Also, kiosk ordering system, so contactless paying yay! read more
Gelato Float (Rosewater Pistachio Ice Cream + Rose Milk Honey Bubble Tea) - I really like rose flavoured things but maybe the rose ice cream + milk tea was a bit of an overkill... just not the best combination LOL (but that's my fault) - Very faint pistachio flavour in the ice cream Vietnamese Coffee Waffle Cone (not pictured cuz it was melting like crazy LOL) - Pretty good!! - I wish the coffee flavour was slightly stronger though ~ Kekou's not bad - I tried the downtown location a few years ago and really enjoyed the ambiance/selection of flavours!! Coming again this year for the first time after a while, the place is still decent but I just wish the flavours of the ice cream I got were stronger. Compared to the DT location, the North York location is significantly smaller (no seating, just walk in and order). With COVID19, you also just order through a self-serve kiosk (which is pretty easy to use). Every time I pass by the store, there's a small line of people but the service is very fast so you definitely wouldn't be waiting long. read more

So happy they have a location closer to me! Anytime I'm downtown I try to go to their Queen St. location. I've always enjoyed their Gelato given the unique flavours, I highly recommend the Thai Iced Tea, HK Milk Tea, Earl Grey and their Vietnamese coffee (I've yet to try the other flavours, but I've heard good things about it them)! We opted for the Gelato with Tapioca and it was worth it, warning, it's very sweet! I'll definitely be visiting this place more during the Summer Season! read more

This is bad news for my waistline now that they have location in North York. But it's totally worth the calories!! My favourite is the durian flavour. The durian taste is legit not the artificial durian flavour you would get in tubs in supermarkets. It's just too bad they don't sell it by pints in this location. read more

Just almost perfect. I ordered the ice cream on tapioca option since I am a big fan of bubble tea, but it's not the best option if you want to take your time eating it. The tapioca underneath is hot, making it melt super fast. My advice is to get just ice cream if you want to walk slowly and eat. But the HK milk tea ice cream was absolutely the best. It has that nice tea aroma while not being too sweet. The ice cream was very creamy and easy to eat. The ordering is all hands free and done on iPads, making it clean and convenient. On top of that, the staff is really fast with preparing orders! read more
I have been to the location in downtown many times, but first time visiting the new North York location. Quite disappointing. The floats taste diluted / watery. You can choose your combo of float, but they don't have the preset options like the downtown location, so it could be difficult to know what goes well with what. Parking is also a hassle. Not going back to this location as I felt that I wasted my money. Also, no more points card. read more

Love their self-serve kiosk making ordering so easy. The staff got the order out fast by calling your name, so don't go far! I really enjoy their variety of flavours and so far the rosewater and pistachio, almond tofu, black sesame and Vietnamese coffee is a winner for me. The soursop gelato was interesting too, but on the sweet side. The earl grey was disappointing, couldn't taste the bergamot. read more
