Great location, warm and informative staff, and excellent wine. The winery is located on a lovely estate in Petaluma Gap, providing a relaxing and beautiful location. We had a brief tour and learned a lot about how they grow, harvest, and create their wines. Interestingly, their winery just received authentication as an organic winery and their practices are clearly about sustainability. Their wines are quite good to my palate. The Syrah Rotie is full bodied and will age well. The Oro de Plata is a lovely light wine, very drinkable. And my favorite was the La Cruz Chardonnay, with a light touch of oak. read more

This winery is a gem in Petaluma! You don't have to go to Napa or northern Sonoma County to get the full winery experience. Their grounds/vineyards are absolutely beautiful with an amazing view of southern Petaluma valley, the river and marshlands. I've been here in August and October and it was beautiful both times, even with a slight drizzle in the morning and overcast in August. The wine cave and overall tour are high quality - on par or better than many I've done across more famous areas of Napa/Sonoma counties. The owner is a car enthusiast so your tour also includes seeing an incredible car collection, and the tour path is in the shape of one of his favorite race tracks. The wine is definitely worth it, we bought bottles of a couple of their red varietals both times. They also have a lightish food menu which is rare for any winery! I would love to do a private dining experience in their cave - haven't had the chance yet but it looks lovely. Great service and friendly, knowledgeable tour guides both times! Also loved that we could just pop into Petaluma downtown for a late lunch after without the windy long drives it takes to get back to civilization from some of the more remote wineries. read more

The customer service, being able to actually call and have someone pickup, resolving an issue and scheduling a pickup and tasting as a member online - all terrible. It's so frustrating. WINE TASTING AND LUXURIOUS CARS?! My partner and I booked a tour and wine tasting at Keller Estate. It starts off with a tour; our tour guide Jose (he sometimes goes by Joe), was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and straight up cool. The tour is rather quick; it's a short walk through the cave (cave is French for wine cellar), around the estate, a brief glance of the gorgeous landscape, and Jose pointed out the different buildings where Arturo Keller keeps his car collection arranged by country of origin. In the main building, you can access one of the rooms where Keller keeps about a dozen of his pristine cars. Did you know Keller is such a well-known car collector, that the DMV processes new license plates for him within 1 hour?? During the tour, we enjoyed a 2019 and 2016 chardonnays which were fantastic (in fact Keller is known for their chardonnays). After the tour is the red wine testing! Jose prepared us some bread and homemade olive oil (I believe he said they outsource the olive oil production), and I was pleasantly surprised that the olive oil tasted of olives and not watered down oil. Then we enjoyed 3 glasses of red wines (la cruz pinot noir, el coro pinot noir, and a rôtie). These were good, but I wasn't in love with any of them. The chardonnay though, oh my. I told you they are known for their chardonnays. We ended up buying both bottles (the 2019 and the 2016). My partner and I have already discussed that we will share the 2016 with our VIP friends! With this 2-bottle purchase, Jose comped 1 of our wine tastings. Jose is awesome and very handsome! What I love about exploring new wines is my mind continually changes. Wow! After nearly losing my life last year and 8 grueling months of chemo, I decided to go on a trip and visit my first winery. I needed a beautiful view paired with my favorite beverage and got so much more! From fun, knowledgeable tours with awesome guides and stunning scenery to delicious empanadas that will forever linger in my dreams, Keller estate offers a rare experience that I believe everyone should try (with a few secret bonuses.) I believe the only downside was not being able to walk around the vineyards but, after a glass of wine or two, the sheep escaping and being herded back by very friendly dogs made up for all of that and then some. Wine and a show! I came in thinking I'd pass on the reds and ended up going home with a bottle. Thank you for such a lovely opportunity and lasting memories! read more

On April 15th, 2022, myself along with 4 other womxn of color attended your winery to celebrate our friends 30th birthday. The reservation was under Samantha Lavu (Sam Lavu). We were "helped" by an older white man, that name I cannot recall. While settling into our seats (we sat in the room to the left of the main entrance, the man helping us came an introduced himself to us. Immediately asked us what country we were visiting from due to the color of our skin and we were in complete shock and responded that we were from the Bay Area. To make matters worse, he then proceeded by saying "Well its safe to assume that you all are Indian" We nervously laughed because we felt so offended and uncomfortable. Given that we were there celebrating a birthday we did not want to make a big fuss out of the situation. But the more we talk about it amongst the womxn that attended the wine tasting, we realize how prejudice the experience was. The womxn in the group could have been from many countries in the south east Asian region and not necessarily Indian. I am a Latinx women, and he assumed I was Indian as well. This is all to say that there is some needed diversity and equity training for you employees, given that you have many visitors from all walks of life. What a lovely spot. Had driven by lots of times and finally made a point to make a reservation for their tasting. It is all seated tastings by appointment. The setting is atop a mountain, lovely views, the grounds are manicured with vines and lots of olive trees. Peaceful serene with tables spread throughout. Our server, Jean, was fun and knowledgable. The wines are good - small production of total of about 6K cases even though the owner has 800 acres - wow! They do a side by side tasting of their 2 chards and then their 2 pinots - quite good! We also ordered a cheese plate that was quite large - plenty for 4 people or more. Fantastic huge stained glass windows on the buildings. Overall a grand experience - highly recommended! read more

I enjoyed my first visit to this 'unheard of' winery near the Sonoma horse park. This is convenient for tastings with friends/family during horse show weekends. The winery boasts taste with vintage cars and beautiful views. Unfortunately the buck stops there. The wine isn't notable or charismatic. In my dealings with them since obtaining my membership I found the staff very rude, disorganized and pretentious. Of all my winery memberships - this one felt good to cancel! read more

I felt as if I was robbed. One of the first things from our server was, "We are closing soon." Even though we arrived 50 min before they closed. He poured some white wine with no explanation and left, came back a few min later with another white, poured, talked for a min and left. When it came to the red, I had to go find him because it had been at least 10 min since he visited our empty glasses. He then brought out three plates of bread..... Three tiny pieces of half stale bread. He was running late so he filled all three reds at the same time. I, because I am not familiar with the area, asked if they did a Cab. He laughed at me!!! As if I was a fool. The Vacuum running while we sat there was a nice touch. There was no type of real wine explanation of their vineyard, or the wine we drank. Oh the wine itself, it was ok, I would pay $15.00 a bottle. Our cost for 5 extremely small pours, $50.00 a piece! First time I have ever not tipped. I really felt violated. I could have spent $100.00 ( I paid for a guest) on some great wine and read about it. Stay away from this place. read more

Traffic is evil ninety-nine percent of the time, but in the case of discovering Keller, traffic was a blessing. Going up 101-N on a Friday afternoon is always a stupid idea, but recently my ladies and I were extra stupid and tried to drive up North on a beautiful Friday afternoon that had a special guest of a raging fire somewhere near Cotati. Our destination in Sebastopol quickly became a fantasy, when it went from being about 40 minutes away to two hours away. Cue iphone-yelp-google maps, "nearest winery", "I need some wine, sohelpmegod" and Keller was closest and open without appointments. This is a seriously beautiful estate and a most welcome respite from bumper to bumper craziness. Although they are open without reservations, the tasting room manager seemed surprised to see us. Made more sense when he told us that they'd just opened to the public in 2010, despite being in the industry for upwards of 25 years. Their approach is pretty easygoing and relaxing; not quite a home away from home (though I would love for it to be my home), but definitely low on pretense. We got the skinny on Keller's terrior-they have a vineyard called El Coro which sits high on a ridge, exposing the grapes to high gusts and that famous Petaluma Gap fog. Their Pinot Noirs from these secluded vineyards are amazing, and was their stand-out wine with its prominent spicy and fruity qualities. I found the rest of their tastings really interesting and playful, and was even somehow turned onto their rosé, which I generally don't enjoy. Tastings were all waived even though not everyone in my party purchased a bottle. Appreciated the noncommercial approach this winery takes, which you'll understand after hearing too many anecdotes from the manager about how this is basically the lovechild of a Mexican industrialist and his wife, who also has a rabid passion for vintage cars. A worthwhile detour, especially when northbound gridlock shows no signs of abating. Save me a bottle! read more

Keller Estates Keller is a car collector. He has the largest collection of pre World War II cars. The estate is 800 acres, only 95 acres is used for for vines. The rest is museum quality storage for cars. Two of the cars are on display near the tasting room. Keller Estate is also pressing olive oil. The olive oil was served as a lovely light snack with salty popcorn. The tasting room filled up with happy little groups. Three ladies and a little girl. A super cute young couple and their dog looking for a wedding venue, and an elegant elderly couple who seem right at home. The staff is cheerful and pleasant. They are well informed and share their enthusiasm for the wine and property without being obtrusive or overbearing. The room is large and beautiful. It's a little chilly today as it is very wet outside. But I snuggled up next to a heater and had a great time subtly people watching and soaking in the vibe. There is obviously a fortune behind the wine hobby and refined taste. The tasting is a five wine flight: Brut sparkling is light and crisp with a sour apple hint Pinot Gris is so light and dry. It disappears in your mouth. Tropical notes. Delightful and perfect for lunch pairings. Spice at the finish. Chardonnay is next. Buttery. Bold. Ok, I hate Chardonnay but this is awesome. Not too much butter or oak. Delicious! Served with a fruit, nut and cheese plate humbolt fog blue, cowgirl creamery creamy Brie, aged Gouda and a tj wine soaked gem. Plenty of marcona almonds too La Cruz Pinot noir is awesome. Spicy, dry, great finish. Strong but subtle black cherry notes. Very traditional and done right. Grapes in clay and below the fog line. Keller Estate Precioso Pinot noir limited edition, beautifully engraved bottle. Anton was sent to me with the special assignment of presentation. The wine maker and his daughter produce this appellation when the planets align and everything is just right. It's more robust than the la Cruz, spicier and less fruit. It's divine. Price point matches the unique offering - $75. All others are around $30-$40 Tastings are by appointment only. It is well worth calling to reserve a time to soak in the amazing views and the wonderful wine. read more

This was our first stop for wine tasting over the weekend on our Sonoma/Russian River area trip. Driving up to the winery, it is set on beautiful and spacious grounds. Nice metal and stained art doors on the building. It is a modern facility with a large plaza and patio in front with wooden patio sets. The tasting consisted of a Rose of Pinot, 3 Chardonnays, 2 Pinots and a Syrah. Brett and Scot were very friendly and personable in talking about the wines, the history of Keller Estates, and about the other wineries and restaurants in the area. After our wine tasting, we inquired if we could use one of their small patio tables for a quick picnic lunch. Our friendly servers said it was no problem since there were no other patrons at the winery. As we were eating our lunch, the winery owners walked by and we exchanged smiles as they went into the tasting room. They came out and took a nice antique car out for a drive. Later on Bret came out and hinted that the patio table was meant for wine tasting. We got the hint and hope he didn't get in trouble for allowing us to eat lunch there. Overall, nice winery on beautiful grounds. The tables in front look inviting, but they are not meant for you if you want to eat a lunch there. Maybe they should have a sign there (which we see at some wineries) stating that tables are for wine tastings only. Brett and Scot were great servers! Very informative and educational. read more

Beautiful estate of 650 acres on which the grapes are grown. The Chinese Yangtze stone architecture of the building and cave. The terrace with tables and swings. Located in the Petaluma Gap in Sonoma County the climate influences what is grown here and the flavor of the grapes. The wine was excellent here. We enjoyed the 2007 Pinot Gris, La Cruz Vineyard and a few others. My favorite was the 2004 Syrah, La Cruz with a yummy lunch. Everyone in my party loved Keller's bread and dipping olive oil. So plus points for that! I personally wasn't too amazed by our wine tasting partially because when we arrived someone was shaking their head at us as we were getting dropped off by our ride share. It automatically left our group with an unpleasant introduction. Then while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, it just seemed like the whole vibe wasn't as welcoming as other experiences. Towards the end, he started warming up to us and providing recommendations for other tastings nearby but when you start off a first impression like you are pissed off at your patrons, we're obvi going to feel unwelcome. Pro tip: the daughter is an artist and her art is displayed indoors. I've recently started getting into paintings so I loved walking in to the lobby and checking out her pieces. Beautiful wine tasting location off the beaten path. $15 for 5 pours which is inexpensive by Napa Valley wine tasting region standards. We liked a few of the wines but none jumped out at us enough to purchase a bottle. The bottle prices ranged from ~$25 to $70+. Of course the ones we preferred were on the higher end of the price scale. The wine makers are obviously car fans and my honey enjoyed taking photos of a couple vintage cars and also the cool car sculpture out front. Although we started our tasting a a table outside, we got too warm and moved to a cooler spot indoors. read more

We did a group wine tasting a few days back. The patio is pretty nice with vintage cars and a nice view of the vineyards and mountains. It was still a little chilly given the vineyard is in the petaluma gap. Definitely need to dress accordingly. We were taken on a quick tour of the grounds, nothing mindblowing, although the wine cellars were pretty cool. There's many many vintage cars that we got to look at. Absolutely amazing property beautifully designed and planted with spectacular vista from the wine tasting terrace and striking artist-designed doors. As a bonus the owner is a serious car collector and some of his collection is on display in buildings off the wine tasting area. Our tour was both informative and amusing. We could have relaxed on the terrace for hours. Vibe was informal and welcoming. We just wish we had known we could order a cheese plate! Would definitely visit again if in the area. read more

What an unpleasant experience. Was it because we had gift certificates from Metro Hotel? Who knows. We simply wanted to try out this wine-tasting event and learn a few things. Instead, we received some backhanded comments that were completely unwarranted. First, we arrived and approached the guy at the wine bar. We notified him of our appointment and he simply acknowledged it. Nothing else. So we stood there as we waited for some directions since we were new to the place and he basically tells us to entertain ourselves while he finishes up with another couple and approach us then. But the way he addressed it was something along the lines of "you don't have to just stand here." Alright, sure. We sat at the table and attempted to check in on Yelp, only to have him approach us and muttered "wow you guys are just both on your phones." I'm sorry, were we suppose to just stare at you as you walk towards us? We received our first pour. Nothing that threw us off. We took our time to sip, chat, and enjoy the atmosphere. Again, he approaches us and said, "you guys are so quiet, I wasn't sure when to pour the next, you should wave your hand or something." He proceeded to pour another wine into my unfinished glass. I don't know about that kind of service, but overall it appeared too unfriendly. I had to step outside to get some air. His comments stopped and we finished the wine tasting but we wouldn't come again. read more

I love there wine. But the workers are not friendly. The fellow at the counter that was pouring for the day on Saturday or Sunday was a disgrace to the winery. I believe his name was Blair the guy with glasses is the worst. Also, to top off my wine tasting experience I went back to the winery before closing and notice some disturbing things in the cave. Again it was the fellow pouring the wine during the day. So I grabbed my sunglasses and left and will NEVER be back. The employees are unprofessional. I am better off tasting in Healdsburg. Where there are other winery in the area and they actually care for there clients and wine tasting experience. read more

Beautiful grounds! Stunning views.... I can't stress these points enough. Vintage Mercedes vehicles. Ample parking (wait I guess that's never a problem in wine country...) We took about an hour to taste 3-4 wines. We took each one outside and sat on their deck/patio in the swinging chairs. We took pics. Sipped. Laughed. It was heavenly. And never once did they rush us or get annoyed. The staff is happy to get deep into wine minutia convos or just give you the basics and let you relax. I liked that. They are not super pushy with sales and wine clubs either, which is always nice. Some places are really over the top with that, this is not one of them. Very relaxed place. Gorgeous. Seriously beautiful. Go here and chill :-) Tasting was about $10-15/pp. I believe they probably comp the tasting if you purchase a bottle (bottles: $30-80). I think we sampled 4-6 wines. Unnecessary, especially if you are hunting for tips. That was a damper on the trip to Keller for me since I had loved their zinfendals when I had visited last. Then again, their taste room operator was friendlier, pleasant and overall cordial compared to this idiot woman that served us. Why don't you take your ugly ring and use it to harvest grapes since the prongs on that thing would come in handy. Fire the awful woman working on Sundays, and this place will equate to what I have been used to enjoying at Keller. read more

My family and I stopped here on our way back from an event. Location is pretty, and the staff was friendly. We ended up taking home 6 bottles of the 2007 Syrah (which was discounted). Upon opening the first bottle 1 week later, we discovered that the cork had been soaked through to the top of the bottle neck...wine tasted okay still so we drank it. No side effects and taste was good. We thought it was just a random occurrence. That was back in January. We have since had a couple more bottles all with the same issue. Tonight we opened one and not only was the cork completely soaked through, the bottle had patches of "something" around the top (in the bottle where it widens out, not the neck). Strange....definitely not a wine to store away or age. Not pleased with this particular batch especially for the price. ***edit to review Ann Keller responded to my original review within minutes of my post. We stopped by Keller Estate on our way up to Sonoma Valley. The winery's tasting room is perched on top of a hill overlooking part of the vineyards. There is a large courtyard area where you can drink your wine, as well as a spacious indoor tasting room with tables. They produce only 5000 cases per year and you can taste the small batch craftsmanship in the wine. Their Oro de Plata chardonnay is wonderful in its subtleness and non-overbearing oaky flavor you get from most Californian chardonnays. The two pinots we tasted were delicious, the Coro being my favorite. Highly recommend this stop on any Sonoma Valley wine tasting trip. We will be back. read more
