He left the tech world, earned a degree in viticulture and enology from UC Davis, and cut his teeth at prestigious wineries like Ravenswood, Kosta Browne, and Dutton-Goldfield. We had the chance to taste both, and in the end, we fell in love with the 2025 Oro De Plata Chardonnay. It's just perfect for a hot day and tasted fantastic. We decided to bring home both the Oro De Plata and the La Cruz Chardonnay -- it was such a great experience! The views here are absolutely stunning, with the property spanning nearly 700 acres. It's one of the most breathtaking wineries I've ever visited. Plus, they have a fascinating collection of vintage cars on the grounds that the owner has gathered over time. The winery grows a lot of pinot noir but also makes some whites and rose. We each got the mixed wine tasting flight of 5 wines ($30). They were all delicious in their own ways! Also comes with water and a cheese plate. We walked out purchasing 2 bottles.

Yes it's a winery, but it's about more than wine…read more Belden Barns is a family-owned establishment that recognizes and appreciates the agricultural aspect of being a winery. Beyond growing amazing grapes and making them into delicious, award-winning wines, they also have residencies for young farmers to have access to some of their land to so they can launch their farming careers. Come here for a tasting and you'll be captivated by the down-home farm-y feeling of the land. You can sense it's an intentional space as soon as you set foot on the property. They offer a variety of wines to taste and experience--from a bubbly to a white, to a variety of reds--you can't go wrong with a single sip. My favorite was Serendipity. The highlight of the visit isn't about grapes or farming or wine. It's about The Wishing Tree. After you walk through the vines, stop by the tree and make a wish for yourself, attach it to the tree, and let destiny take care of the rest. This is a super special spot in Sonoma County you won't want to miss.

Half the fun here is getting to Belden Barns--the road over Sonoma Mountain makes it a bit of a…read morechallenge and the entrance isn't super-clear, but once you get inside this sprawling property (and close the gate to keep the deer out) you'll get a chance to see a really cool vineyard/farm/winery taking shape. The tasting in an old barn is unpretentious and straightforward. After a nice Rose' to start, the unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc was an unexpectedly substantive and fruit-forward SB that deserves the plaudits it has received. Belden Barns is also the site of the only Gruner Veltliner planting in Sonoma County (and one of a tiny handful in the whole state) and the estate bottling of it is nicely-made, with a clean finish and solid acidity. The Serendipity Pinot Noir is outstanding--liked it much more than the Estate Pinot Noir, though it was nice to see the contrast in winemaking style between the two (go for the Estate if you like cherry cola). As for the Syrah, well, if you like Syrah, you'll likely like this Syrah. It's a good cool climate Syrah. The tasting consisted of 6 wines but they had plenty of other interesting bottles and we picked up their Blanc de Noirs and a Late Harvest Viognier. Surrounded by so many Chard/Pinot-only places, it's refreshing to find variety while still maintaining quality. While the Wishing Tree experience was a great way to cap off the visit, it was neat just to be able to walk around the vines and see some of the views off of Sonoma Mountain and into the valleys and hills around. There's a lot of interesting history about the property and some really cool farming ideas that they're working on. It's nice to see a winery that's taking a different direction from most others. We'll definitely be back to try the cider and some other wines and will look forward to seeing how the place and the wines develop.

We opted to do the 7 wine tasting option and had the delightful experience to taste some varietals side by side from different years. The conversations were engaging and we enjoyed hearing from Dennis and Deb about what led them to this chapter from exclusively training horses and offering clinics to now settling down with rolling hill views of over 630 acres, raising cattle, working horses, and making wine. As an extra bonus, we learned that on the weekends Dennis offers grilled burgers from his homegrown cattle - and it was the best dang burger I've ever had! The Cabernet Sauvignon pairs perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to our next trip to California so we can swing by and catch up - we came as strangers and we left feeling like friends.

We enjoyed a tour of the winery, their lab, and the headed to the tasting room. Alex expertly led us through the tasting, describing the components and characteristics of each wine. He was knowledgeable, engaging and a pleasure to interact with. They are located a bit off the beaten path but are well worth the visit. This is not a winery that is in a majestic setting producing sub-par wines, but rather a winery focused on production of world-class wines and providing an educational and entertaining experience. Front the entrance it is very unassuming. The wine tasting was great, and the staff was very knowledgeable. Our tasting also came with a gorgeous charcuterie board. There are options to taste both inside and outside. They also host, concerts and events there, and it looks like that would be really fun as well.

The staff went all out dressed to impress in their creative costumes, bringing such a fun, festive vibe to the night. We enjoyed a delicious cheese platter paired with generous pours of their incredible Jack London wines, rich, full-bodied, and absolutely delicious. Between the cozy atmosphere, friendly team, and top-notch wines, Kenwood is a must during spooky season (or any time of year!). Can't wait to come back for another glass or three!

The setting is beautiful with the magnificent redwood trees and the stylish finished barn tasting room. There is outside seating with umbrella coverage for shade. Our host (Lori) was amazing sharing so much knowledge about the wines and was very friendly making us feel like regulars when it was our first visit. The tasting came with rustic crackers ( my favorite brand btw). This is a very relaxed unpretentious tasting experience. We were offered a couple extra tastes of our hosts favorites. Enjoyable wines at a good price point.
