Don't pay attention to reviews more than a few years old. Kellys is under new management and it has become very over priced. I was thinking I would bring a 4 yr old up to learn on the magic carpet area but they require an adult ticket even for the magic carpet. I would never pay $90 to ski at this resort where most of the lifts are in need of major maintenance. Targhee Ski resort will let an adult ski for free with their 3-5 yr old on their magic carpet lift. read more

Absolutely abismal for what they charge, your money is better spent on the slopes in Utah or Targhee. At least you'll get your moneys worth there. Only thing Kelly offers is proximity but the slopes are crowded and If you go down the hill more than once then you've seen the entire terrain. Visiting friends in Idaho and the family decided to stop at Kelly for the day. This happened to fall on the very last day they were open for the season this year, March 20th of 2021. We had our ski and snowboarding gear as we were planning on a snow day somewhere, so we didn't need the rentals. Their park prices are very reasonable. The staff was friendly, and the snow was fantastic!! So different from California snow! We got to have a totally new experience riding the different snow in a slight blizzard. This is quite a small resort/park, but still a lot of fun and enjoyable. We played the whole day and didn't even stop to eat! Then stopped for hot cocoa just down the street at Heise Hills Pizza Parlor. We now look forward to going every time we are in the area. read more

I was appalled to find that the resort's COVID facemask policy (stated on their website) was not followed or enforced at all. I understand that it can be a challenge for employees to ensure mask compliance while they are also trying to do their jobs, but at the very least, the employees themselves should wear masks to set an example. I did not see a *single* employee wearing a mask! This is completely unacceptable for a large business that services large crowds and operates under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Idaho Public Health Board's mask mandate. I understand that skiing outdoors is a minimal risk, inherently social-distanced activity. There are still large crowds, however, gathering in the lift lines, ticket lines, restrooms, etc. The science tells us that universal mask compliance is essential for everyone's safety in this case, not to mention it is quite simple just to put and keep that mask on! Grand Targhee, on the other hand, has been very assertive about their mask policy which has made skiing there much more enjoyable under these circumstances. All employees wear masks; clear signage is posted throughout the resort; and lift operators do not let anyone by without their mask fully covering their mouth and nose. As draconian as these rules seem, they allow us all to enjoy skiing safely--one of the few activities we can enjoy right now. I thought Kelly's might be a good way to ski while avoiding large crowds, but given their flippancy towards their own mask policy, I will instead be skiing Targhee for the remainder of the season. I also think my $10 food credit should be refunded because there is no way I was going to go inside that lodge given the resort's overall carelessness. read more

I downloaded yelp just to say how unimpressed I have been this season. I am a consecutive ski pass member and have noticed a SHARP decline in the upkeep of this resort. While prices have shot up, only half the lifts (in turn, half the mountain) is operational and accessible. The food may be good but they also cut many of their menu items that made the price understandable. Altogether, you can have fun on the slopes but do have to put up with the terrible upkeep and promised yet disappointing terrain park. Ultimately, im sad about my experience here. They struggle with keeping all the lifts open. But they do not struggle in the rental department. They are super efficient and super helpful. Just a really well run department and the gear is great and the employees are even better. read more

Super disappointed in Kelly's now. This place use to be family oriented now its all about money. They do not allow outside food or drink in the "lodge". The pricing of this place is terrible. $91.00 for a half day with only 3 most of the time only 2 lifts because one is broken is stupid. The lifts are slow the lifts and the seats are mangled and are literally plywood seats under a plastic seat cover. Kelly canyon used to be a great place but now its a scummy overpriced ski HILL resort. Go to targhee and spend the extra $20 for a great time on a real Ski Resort! read more

Very fun ski hill with 1,000~ feet of vertical. Snow is well groomed and the runs are mostly suitable for learners and intermediate skiers. A few steep spots if you want that, and a nice, easy learners' area. Bonus that they finally upgraded their main lift--brand new triple chair now moves a lot more people up the mountain. This place is popular with students later in the afternoon and for night skiing. A real highlight: the grill. One of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. 1/3 pound of freshly formed beef, cooked to order, on a fresh and tasty bun. Add on their "bacon jam" and YUM. read more

A good hill but the lifts and resort are constantly closing down for no apparent reason. Snow is rarely groomed. Also, anything the website says about a park is completely false this season they didn't even have a park crew. Still had fun but definitely felt ripped off and cheated because of the false advertising on their website. Overall I would say the worst resort I've ever been to. read more

They advertise 4 lifts but only ever run two. They also charge astronomical prices for how small the resort is. They barely ever groom their runs. They cut their food options in half in the winter even though they're a lot more busy than they are in the summer. Also if you put an honest review on any of their social media, it will get deleted and you will be blocked. Each year I am more and more grateful for Kelly Canyon. They have kept their prices reasonable, especially when compared against the outrageous prices of the big resorts. Kelly Canyon is a family-oriented place. Don't expect world-class terrain. It's a no-frills ski hill, but it's a great place to teach anyone how to ski and has a decent amount of unique terrain for everyone. They need brighter lights for night skiing, but the lights suffice. Their bunny hill is really gentle, and Skier's Lane is a gentle run for any beginner. Food in the lodge is reasonably priced, and no one frowns upon you if you bring your own food. With a little planning, you can save money by buying their bulk cards and going on Monday nights. Even at full price, it's still very reasonable. All of my kids have learned to ski there. Their reasonably priced group ski school lessons are the only way to teach your kids to ski. Rentals are reasonably priced, but it can get busy in the rental shop, so get your gear early. read more

Last night I went boarding for the first time this year at Kellys and LOVED it. This ISN'T a big time vacation ski resort like you would find at Targhee or Jackson Hole. It's a local small ski spot that is perfect for beginners or for those that just want to get out on a hill without paying $100 for a day pass. Because I'm a student, I paid $17 for my lift ticket. That is a STEAL for skiing in this area. The entire mountain is open for night skiing as well. If you have never been night skiing you are really missing out on something great. The snow is completely dependent on the winter, luckily we have had great snow this year and conditions were fair as of last night. Most runs are groomed, but you can find some backcountry if you're looking for it. The ski lifts are old and rickety but add to the over all vibe of Kellys. The Lodge is great, there is a huge fireplace you can warm up by or, you can get something to eat in the cafeteria. The food in there is pretty great but the brownies they sale are MASSIVE and phenomenal. Kellys is a great place. I feel fortunate to live so close to such an awesome ski resort. read more

-It was icy, but it's not their fault it hasn't snowed recently. -If you're new to snowboarding and don't do everything right the first time expect the ski lift operators to show visible frustration with you, which was a big turn off. We're talking eye rolling, sarcasm, and near yelling. The whole nine yards. -The equipment guys know what's up. -Food is cafeteria quality. -The runs look like they would be awesome with a bit more snow so definitely pay attention to weather and go after a nice big snow fall. read more

Went skiing with my family at Kelly on 1/21/12 and it was worst skiing experience we have had. There has not been snow all winter and since we finally got some and Kelly has opened up, we decided to go have a fun family day. Boy were we disappointed. We went to Kelly several times last year and it was ok but it seems that things have really changed. First off, last year when we went, we would always go on Sundays because that was my husbands day off. This year, they are not open on Sundays. Most people work Monday thru Friday so wouldn't you want to be open both days of the weekend? And it always seemed pretty busy when we went on Sundays so it doesn't make sense to me as to why they would not be open on Sundays. When we paid, we realized that for just a few more dollars, we could have gone to Targhee and had so much more available to us. Well, we deicded we would keep that in mind for the future. So, we go up on the first run and my girls (12 & 6) have a really hard time with the snow. We went on a second run and thought the snow was horrible, not what we were expecting. We hadn't even been there 1/2 an hour, so we told the girl at the ticket booth it was not what we were expecting and if we could get a refund. The girl said no. My husband and I talked some more and then he went back and asked if he could speak to the manager. Apparently, he was right there behind the girl and he said "We don't do refunds, you saw the conditions." I feel that he was very rude and unprofessional. Yes, we saw the conditions, but we didn't go up on the hills, we didn't know what the snow was like. Well, we decided we didn't want our money to go to complete waste so we were going to try it out some more. We went on another run and it seemed a bit better so we decided to stay on that one. Well, the second time we went up, my arm got caught on my daughter and I dropped my poles. I got my arm out and I turned around and was yelling at the people loading the chairs. Well, they were too busy chatting with each other, they didn't notice my poles until about 5 chairs behind me. Such attentiveness! Good thing we didn't fall, otherwise we would have just been left there. At lunch time, we were soaked and miserable so we decided tht it was no longer worth it to continue to make ourselves miserable so we called it a day and went home. i was truly disappointed with Kelly this time. I think their prices are too high because as I said, for just a bit more, we could go to Targhee and Kelly is no where near close to the ski level Targhee is so they should not be as expensive. We will definitely not be going back to Kelly Canyon For skiing. read more

I bought a pass this year and have had a terrible experience. During several encounters with many different employees, I have been disrespected and treated very poorly. Anyone who has been to any other resort can tell Kelly's never maintains the runs and it is very hazardous. If there is ever a snowcat grooming it's during operating hours which also creates a big hazard to the riders. I'm disappointed in the lack of professionalism and I hope they make improvements, but I will not be spending my money here again and I urge you to do the same. read more

Tough call here, we took our granddaughters here for lessons. The ski instructors are top notch and very good with the kids. The equipment rental staff acted like they were doing us a favor by being there. They were not at all helpful. We're taking them back for another lesson tommorow. Perfect place for kids. read more

The only reason I'd give it 2 stars is because the price. The older gentleman at the ticket window was extremely rude for no reason, not only to me but to a friend later on as well. I don't think they know what a groomer is because it's chop city. I've never written a review, but I've never experienced such terrible customer service in my life. Just to buy a ticket!
