The 1st and 2nd time I hired Kelly he seemed to do good quality smart fast work at a fair price. The 3rd time was a disaster. The quality and care of the work was totally shoddy, careless, non-functional and non- durable. The price was completely disproportionate. My friend who looked at the work described it as having been "phoned in" on a toy plastic Mickey Mouse phone with a fake rotary dial. One example- the installation of a washing machine drain connected only with duct tape and without a standpipe, so water leaked all over the floor the very 1st time the washer was used. Another example: Repair of a redwood gate using a piece of interior trim (not redwood and not waterproof). I wasn't sure how/if it was attached to the rest of the gate so I pulled on it gently and it started to come of in my hand. It was only attached with a few staples (not strong or waterproof). My mistakes: 1. I did not read other reviews, especially the one where Kelly responds to an unhappy client with "I know who you are and I know where you live". 2. That I let him do these super simple projects without me supervising and telling him not to use the wrong materials, not to attach moving parts in a wet environment with tape and staples and not to make the work disfunctional, weak and ugly. Response time was prompt and service was complete. Hourly charges seem VERY high and billing was unclear. The service worker was at my residence for 2 hours but I was billed for 3 hours of service time plus 30 minutes of travel time. I paid, and followed up with a text to Kelly and it seems as if my number was blocked. Shame because we frequently need handyman services. Will not be using again. Update: Kelley the owner reached out to me and offered my payment back. I was not interested in a refund and explained that his billing structure should be more clear. read more

Kelly Marvin is exceedingly responsive, accommodating, efficient, trustworthy, courteous, and skilled. He provides 1st class customer service from initial contact to job completion. I needed fast repair of a heavy shed door before departing on a trip but most other repair services including Tuff-Shed customer service in Rohnert Park failed to even return calls. Several were too busy. In contrast Kelly replied to my Yelp email request in under 15 minutes. Even though his schedule was fully packed he worked me in the next day. On the job he promptly assessed the problem then labored efficiently and skillfully with a plethora of tools typical to first rate contractors and experienced carpenters. I hired Kelly to help with some plumbing issues and minor 'honey-dos' around the house. At this point, he has been over a few times and took care of some problems​ that I could have never done on my own. He was on time and worked as he had just drunk a Redbull, not a moment wasted with no hesitation in regards to how something should be done, or what parts were necessary if any to make sure a return trip was unnecessary. I do have cause to pause, and re assess after my last encounter. As with most service provider ( in my experience) the first visit great and on best behavior but after a couple of visits the standards drop which was the case for me. In my opinion Kelly can be the guy for the job when his head is in the game. read more

He actually came by our house the day after we had called to take a look at the project and even began work. He even helped us pick out a new unit and helped answer all of my questions. Kelly came out on the same day that we called with a plumbing issue. We had removed the toilet in our new house - something my husband has done before - but realized that the flange was all sorts of beaten to hell. After some debate, I convinced my husband that we should call a plumber instead of trashing our new place even more than the previous owners had. Kelly came through within the day even though it was a Sunday and gave us a very fair price. He was done quickly and there was no mess. on the plus side, he did the job satisfactorily and cleaned the built up hard water around the old faucet. On the minus side, when I asked if the drain was supposed to disconnect, he said he did not know and did not seem to want to get further involved (I read the directions later and there is a way to insert a part differently for it to remove from the top). Also, I think he should have been more clear about his charges when I made the appointment--$100 to come to the door, plus $50 an hour on top of that--so an hour of his time is worth $150, and i still do not see how that makes $195 for 70 minutes. I am a disabled senior and cannot afford that much so will not be using him again. read more

I have used Kelly twice now and he has exceeded my expectations on both occasions. Last summer he installed an air conditioning unit in my wall (My wife hates the heat and this earned me several brownie points). It not only works great, but it looks awesome as well. He went above and beyond trimming it out and matching my exterior paint colors. More recently Kelly came and painted our kitchen. The quality of the work was outstanding but more importantly Kelly's positive demeanor, and overall neatness were well beyond what I had previously experienced from even good handymen. I consider myself pretty capable, but life is short, so if I ever have any projects I'm not in the mood to do, I won't hesitate to call Kelly. read more

For those of you who read reviews before making a decision--do not believe the 5 star reviews for this guy! We hired Kelly for 2 full days (I could have kept him busy) but only got two 1/2 days out of him. He'll say it's because he works fast but in reality he rushes through the projects. As a result, we were unhappy with 2 out of 3 projects. In fact, we had to totally redo one of the projects. You'd think with his supposed years of experience he'd know how to match hand-textured walls but instead he bought a can of texture at Home Depot which didn't come close to a match.
