We just had Kelly come out and remove our "popcorn" ceiling from a few of our rooms. I chose his service based on his Yelp reviews and now know first hand why his reviews are 5 stars. When Kelly came out to give us his estimate, he explained everything he was going to do and what we needed to do before he could begin the job. He and his partner were very punctual and immediately began draping protective plastic over everything. It's a very messy job, but they were amazing at keeping the mess to a minimum. It took them two days to complete, one to scrape and texture and the next to paint with a day in between to let the texture dry. When it was all done, they did an awesome job! Kelly takes the time to do the job right and doesn't cut corners. He and John were so very personable that it quickly became more like we were friends/family than just a business deal. The quote was much better than any other we got and he was able to do much more than we had hoped including installing LED recessed lights in several areas of the house- a huge upgrade from what was there before. All in all Kelly removed popcorn upstairs, replaced old-fashioned fluorescent tube light boxes in the kitchen and master bathroom with recessed LEDs, as well as replaced old-style recessed lights with new LEDs in the hallways both upstairs and downstairs. They did a good job on my ceilings at a decent price. A couple of my ceilings were plaster and these guys came in and were able to get it all done in one day. They were prompt in the morning and efficient during the day. The reasons for only four stars is because they forgot to scrape two closets (not a big deal aesthetically, but I paid for it to be done), one of the doors got sprayed a little bit and there was some tape and staples left on the walls in a few spots. Overall, the job was done satisfactorily. The electrically work and canned lights are great. Kelly is a bit of an artist with the lighting - he has a good eye and sound knowledge on the subject. He saved me a couple hundred dollars by suggesting less lights . . . and he was right. The ceiling scrape was a little less than I expected. When we did the walk through, we thought it was good. After painting, we saw additional areas that required sanding. I know that smooth finishes show more blemishes, but there were a few areas that were likely rushed (the painter skimmed a few areas and fixed them pretty quickly). Some of the issue may have been the poor lighting in the house too. I will hire Kelly again if we need acoustic or drywall work done, but I will be more mindful when inspecting the work. Kelly is a good guy and his crew is hard working, and you can't find that everyday. Kelly and his crew removed my acoustic ceiling, removed soffits in my kitchen, installed recessed lighting throughout my home, repaired drywall and textured and painted my ceilings. Kelly did all of the work for the price he quoted even though it was quite a bit more work than anticipated to remove the soffit. We found Kelly through this website and initially we were pleased with our quote. He showed up on time and worked efficiently. He took off the popcorn ceiling in every room and installed several light fixtures. After the work was completed we surveyed the work and paid him. The next day we noticed a light fixture he installed didn't fit the opening and we placed several calls to ask him to come back and reinstall it correctly. He did not return our calls. We found this very unprofessional and rude. The other issue we had is that he wasn't clear on what our options were for finishing the trim around our kitchen recessed lighting and did not realize the future problems we would have with the choice we made. What separated him from the rest was how he presented his proposal. We walked through the house while he was taking his measurements and he described what the process would be to complete the job. Then, while calculating the cost, he opened his iPad and showed me photos of each step of the process. This was key for me because it reinforced the quality of work he is providing. Finally, we talked about price and available start dates. I gave him the business on the spot. We agreed he would start early each day of the job. Kelly and the crew arrived on time (if not a bit early) and work began immediately. The crew reached the finish point we discussed during the bid each day and they always cleaned up, as much as possible, before they left. The finished product was just what I was looking for....and just like the photos he shared in the beginning! Extra things... We chatted quite a bit during the job and I shared other work I was having done on the home. Kelly recommended some simple things I could do to update the lighting fixtures in my home. He had a few of these fixtures in his truck and offered to install them at a reasonable cost (I googled the cost of the fixtures to confirm). I gave him the ok and they knocked it out very quickly. What a difference! Bottom line...Kelly's told me what they can do, showed me what they have done, did what they said they would do, and went the extra step. I had Kelly help me out with some drywalling/ texturing needs at my home ' first of all he shows up with five guys ' his license status says he's workers comp exempt and shows no employees ! The drywall work was a hack job ! Number joints were uneven ' I had to hire another contractor to fix the hack job he did for me ! Contracted them to remove popcorn ceilings. At first Kelly seemed like he would do good work by how thorough he was with the walk through. Upon completion of job I walked through only focusing on the ceiling as that is what the job was for. After they left I was a little more thorough and noticed they had damaged my cabinets, dry wall. Not only that, they lost screws for some light fixtures and LEFT THEIR MESS in my closet. I paid for removal and they left trash at the job site.
