Small roast beef 3-way and beer...$20.
Ron V.

Not impressed. Had the small roast beef 3-way and a can of beer. 3-way means mayo, cheese and BBQ sauce. Cost $20. Not worth it. Roast beef was just ok. Employees were nice enough. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was empty, but the floor and every table/seat in the place was dirty and or greasy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place is definitely not worth a trip, even off of the highway, it's a PIA to get to.

Hard, flavorless & frozen...nasty.

What happened? I haven't been here for about 2-3 months; I ordered a roast beef sandwich and some onion rings to go; generally it takes me 2-3 meals to eat the entire thing...What did y'all do to those onion rings; they used to be perfection, now they are hard, overcooked and clearly cooked from frozen...$30 for a sandwich and onion rings, not sure if I will be back, really disappointed.

We opted to sit at the bar and ordered a mix of plates to share: Ceviche shooters -- refreshing and full of flavor. Hot honey chicken sandwich -- sweet, spicy, and perfectly crispy. Grouper tacos -- light, fresh, and delicious. The food was excellent across the board, but the service was truly outstanding -- warm, attentive, and welcoming

Let me start with the good: this place has ambiance. Sleek granite countertops, copper salt and…read morepepper mills, that upscale-casual waterfront vibe without the water-- Oar & Iron looks the part. But looks, my friends, will only get you so far. Before we even get to the food, let's address the strangest thing I've ever encountered at a restaurant: there is no complimentary water. None. You want water? That'll be two dollars per person--for filtered water. Not bottled Evian. Not fancy sparkling from the Alps. They're filtering tap water and charging you two bucks a head for it. I've dined at a lot of places, and I have genuinely never seen this move. We passed on principle--but imagine sitting down for a nice meal and being told basic hydration is an upcharge. Absolutely bizarre. We kicked things off with the calamari, served up on a long plate with a creamy dipping sauce. Crispy, decent flavor, no complaints on execution. But the portion? Twenty-one dollars. Twenty-one dollars for what amounts to about five bites each if you're splitting it. At that price point, I'm expecting a generous pile of golden fried goodness, not a modest arrangement that leaves you still hungry. The short rib gnocchi had promise--rich, beefy flavor in that sauce, pillowy gnocchi, fresh parsley and shaved parm on top. It wanted to be a star. But here's the thing: half the short rib pieces were more fat than meat, and the portion left us wondering if the kitchen was rationing. Good bones on this dish, but it needs more love in the execution. Now, my wife's scallop risotto. Beautiful presentation--golden seared scallops perched on creamy rice with fresh arugula. Looks like a magazine cover, right? Wrong. It arrived missing ingredients. Just... incomplete. And that's where service comes in. Speaking of which: our server was MIA for the first half of the meal. Questions unanswered, that "are we invisible?" energy. Things improved later, but first impressions matter, and ours was rough. The Verdict: Oar & Iron wants to play in the upscale dining league, but it's not earning the price of admission. No free water--and charging for filtered tap? A $21 appetizer that barely qualifies as a snack? Fatty short ribs, an incomplete dish, and a server who forgot we existed the first half of our meal? This one drops to two stars. Style over substance, and not enough of either.

Great spot in Fort Myers for family dinner!…read more Our server Austin was great and the ambiance was nice, live music on Saturday night is always a vibe. I tried the shrimp scampi and Tuna Tutaki off the summer deal menu Tuna Tutaki is the same size as if you ordered it off the regular menu, same as the scampi huge portion. We also ordered the Grouper Oscar which was delicious if we're being picky it could of had more sauce. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was their skinny margarita and that's just based off my flavor preference. For dessert The Tower Carrot Cake is equivalent to 3 or 4 big slices, definitely shareable. The Famous Key Lime pie was also amazing but not shareable, it's smaller and so good you'll want it all to yourself! Cheers!

It was food, decent, nothing special…read more Came with my family on Valentine's Day with a reservation. They were backed so we still had to wait for a table but it was a holiday so I don't really hold that against them, just noting. Do note that most parking is valet (complimentary). My husband and I split oysters and the Captains Platter. Captains Platter was tasty but for $40+ - I think they could've given a larger portion of at least the veggie sides. Restaurants who skimp on these always blow my mind, Brussels sprouts are so cheap! What we did have was just ok. Sprouts were soggy and bitter, only a few scallops, but the fish was good. I actually liked the plantains a lot! Our server was fabulous and we did need some help from one of the managers who was also great. It is quite a loud restaurant but again it was packed. Overall, I just wasn't excited about anything we had, and thought the prices were high for the quality. With all the seafood in this area, it would be hard to return here.

Charming interior design, love the abundance of art work on the walls. It was very quiet during lunch but I truly hope more people come to try it and spread the word through Fort Myers because their interesting menu and craft cocktails are definitely worth the visit. We ordered tuna crudo, goat cheese stuffed crepes and wagyu burger - all were delicious and beautifully plated! We also tried their banana and pecan strudel for dessert - yum! Next time, I'm definitely trying their goat cheese cheesecake though! Service was extremely attentive and informative. We learned a bit more about the chef and the story of this restaurant and even got meet Chief, the friendliest most adorable dog guarding the restaurant - just kidding, he was just hanging out there. Highly recommend it if you're open to trying new flavors and interesting food combinations. Cocktails are fun too. Mixing bold flavors and a generous pour.
