I met some friends for lunch at McAlister's Deli in Forum Blvd area. I was greeted by staff upon entering and I met up with my friends who were sitting at a booth up front. There was a casual neighborhood atmosphere inside with a savory smell that wafted throughout the restaurant. I ordered their Half Veggie Sandwich and Broccoli Cheddar soup with Miss Vickies Salt & Vinegar chips and a large unsweet tea with strawberry puree added. Everything tasted pretty good. Have eaten here before and food quality has been okay. It's a hike for us to get there - 30 mins so have to really be in the mood for it. Okay - website says they're open until 9. Google says 9. We show up at 7:54 PM and they're only taking to go orders. Not allowing people to sit at the tables. We're not gonna take hot food 30 minutes home - eating there was sort of a necessity as we didn't feel like eating dinner in the car! So if we're being technical, I guess you could say they were "open", but really not "open". Look guys, if you want to get out of there and close at 8:14 or 7 PM or 2 PM - update the damn hours on the website and Google so we don't waste $4 per gallon gas coming all the way over there. If you're open until 9, that means taking the last order at 9 and letting people sit there and eat until they're finished. This sucks guys - is this literally the best you can do here? Wow read more

I went there yesterday with my daughter and grandson. We got takeout when we got home and opened the food. It was appalling. The side, my grandson got was fruit and it was all rotted. I have pictures if I can post them I would like to do that. My daughter's sandwich was absolutely disgusting. She threw it out afraid of getting food poisoning. I took a bite into mine, which was a Reuben, which was basically what a Reuben would be, but it wasn't that grilled. They slapped it together and stuck it in the microwave to heat it up. They said the sandwiches came with a side and they charged us for the sides. For two sandwiches and a child's macaroni and cheese and two unsweetened iced tea. It was $43. Food was MID at best. But the service provided by one of the managers was unprofessional and horrible to say the least.

I've been a customer of McAllister's Deli for 20+ yrs in 3 different states and this is the worst experience I've ever had. First, the food was delicious. The food is not the problem at this location, nor any other location as far as I've experienced. Maybe a To Go order is the way to eat here given the rest of the experience. Came in on a Sunday at ~1:15pm in a party of 2 adults, 1 child. This place was criminally understaffed (same as described in other recent reviews) and it made the overall experience pretty terrible despite the yummy food. One single young woman was running the entire front of house and 2 women were back running the kitchen; we stood in line for much longer than expected as this poor employee chased herself around doing everything BUT cooking. About 30 minutes into our experience (sitting at our chosen table waiting for our food) one of the cooks finally came out to help in the front, leaving 1 in the back for a few minutes. This didn't last but maybe 15-20 mins before it was back to the single employee up front. It took over 40 minutes from the time we entered to when our food arrived at the table, which I know is not how McAllister's corporate would like things to go. That isn't the fault of the employees working, that's just how it goes when there aren't enough bodies to do the work. To the Manager/Owner: Who thinks it's okay to have ONE person taking orders, making drinks, delivering orders to tables, bussing tables, and attending to random customer requests?!? Where is the manager or owner, and why are they not working alongside their employees? The young woman holding down the FOH was surprisingly pleasant, given that she was trying to juggle 6+ tasks at once; I would have turned into a major bumhole if I was in her shoes. The expectations on her are ridiculous. We watched several potential customers walk in, see the ever-growing line, buildup of dirty tables, the single employee running around doing it all, and walk back out. What's funny is that the amount of profit loss from those people likely would have covered the payroll for another employee to work today. In addition to the plethora of un-bussed tables, empty drink machines, and overly long wait I had the pleasure of using a bathroom stall devoid of toilet paper and a bathroom sink with a broken/out-of-service paper towel dispenser, another situation that can probably be blamed on lack of staff. Oh, and I couldn't find a trash can anywhere in the restaurant; What's up with that? Overall I won't be heading back to this location, I'll drive to the Naples location instead. read more

This deli is a good option for lunchtime. We've been here a number of times, the food is always good and they have a varied menu. Instead of a restaurant with fried this and that, McAlister's Deli offers freshly made sandwiches, soups, salads, and baked potatoes with your choice of toppings. Their sweet tea is something I look forward to enjoying every time we eat here. Refills are available at no charge and the tea is very good. Their salads are particularly good and the pecanberry salad is my all time favorite. It comes with a vinaigrette dressing that adds a perfect balance of flavors. On a recent visit, I tried their spicy BBQ chicken sandwich, hubs went for the choose 2, which is always a good choice. He really liked the Memphian sandwich with Black Forest ham, roast beef and spring mix, along with the chicken tortilla soup. The sandwiches are served with a dill pickle spear that adds a nice crunch. As usual, lunch was delicious and filling. An extra bonus is the good parking and pleasant service. McAlister's is in a good location, close to Tamiami Trail and Immokalee Road. We'll be back soon. read more

Their salads are large portions which I love. The southwest salad is my favorite here. This time I chose pick two half McAllister wrap and half salad. Great flavors. Good portions, it definitely fills me up. I think it's a great value for all the food I got! Service was great from the moment we ordered our food and when it was being delivered. I've been here a couple times and the first time was great but this last time was pretty bad. The lettuce in my salad was not fresh and the tomatoes were old. In addition, they were out of spuds and had no clean dishes. There seemed to be plenty of workers on my visit and I would've preferred to eat on clean dish ware. The roast beef sandwich was pretty good though. As far as customer service, it was somewhat non existent. I tried to get someone's attention so I could throw something away and was completely ignored me. I Guess I'll continue to go to Jason's Deli instead. read more

So this is a chain I am not familiar with. You order at the front and they bring your food to the table when it's ready. They were out of several items. No chicken salad, several purées to mix with the lemonade were not available. One girl to check out the dinner rush so it was a little slow. Restaurant was clean, but understaffed. The girl that was processing incoming orders was also the only one serving on the floor. Just my perspective, they seem better at take out than dine in as the take orders seems to be processed more expediently. Food was good, bread was soft and fresh. Nice sit down deli food. Also talked with management about hiring my daughter and unfortunately they stopped hitting 16 year old so that's ok. Maybe next year. Yet another solid McAlister's experience, just like every other McAlister's I have been to. I've always seen McAlister's as a great substitute to Panera if you are looking for good soups, salads, and sandwiches. My go to sandwich is probably the Reuben Sandwich. They do a great job with the corned beef and just stacking it on. Love the layer of sauerkraut and Swiss Cheese along with the tang of Thousand Island Dressing. The Baked Potato Soup was nice and creamy with hearty chunks of potato and bacon bits. Overall, the choose two is the way to go, allowing you to try different things while getting the most bang for your buck. The only slight demerit is that I feel like portion sizes have been getting smaller over the years. I understand inflation causing prices to go up, but crossing my fingers that portion sizes don't shrink any smaller. read more

I am disappointed in this place. Today we ordered 70 dollars worth of food. The kids toastie was barely toastie at all. My sons king club was supposed to be on a baguette with no spring mix or salad and instead it was just slapped on toast with everything on it. I ordered the French dip and was very disappointed. My hubby and I have done a few stops here to grab either a quick lunch or dinner. I apologize but I forgot to take pics because this last time both my hubby and I were Hungry and on a hurry to get home. We have orders several items. We have done their combos which you can get a combo of Half sandwich with half salad, or soup or 1/2 spud ( baked potato) . I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered their spud which was a very large baked potato with just butter and my hubby ordered their full size chef salad. Wow my potato was so huge that I could only eat 1/2, I saved the rest for another meal. My hubby also could only eat half of his chef salad too. We really enjoy their freshly brewed iced teas! They come in both sweet and unsweetened. I'll make sure to take pics next time. Make sure to pick up one of their freshly back big chocolate chip cookies for dessert! We will be back! read more

Nothing but trouble with this restaurant / deli (Ft. Myers at the Forum). Their website allows you to place an order. Gives you a pick up time and a confirmation number. But when you arrive for your pick up, you stand around for fifteen minutes, only to be told your order is not yet ready (three separate times). After that, your told that they don't accept on line orders, or phone orders, only App orders. Then they tell you we could make your order now, however, it may take about thirty minutes and you will have to pay again. What about the on line order that was already paid for... Oh, that will be refunded later (what!!!). On line payment was never refunded and I had to file a dispute with my bank to get my money returned. Totally ridiculous. Corporate also wasn't willing to help, beyond telling us our money would be refunded. read more

First time at this newly open McAlister and I am pretty impressed so far. McAlister is a national chain that offers soups, salads, sandwiches and their giant spuds with their signature sweet tea. The layout is similar to Jason's Deli and Panera but more in the deli mode. The décor is focused on Fort Myers, with black and white old photos of old Fort Myers' River District. There are inside and outside tables available! The staff is upbeat, friendly and efficient. The manager saw me picked up the menu and ask me if this is the first time here and offer help and suggestions with a smile! A well-run location! I had the New Yorker, corned beef and pastrami, Swiss and mustard on marbled rye at their Naples' location last year. Today I have the French Dip, roast beef with melted Swiss on a toasted baguette, served au jus and side of Mac & cheese. Wow, as soon as the server delivered the plate, the sandwich was quickly consumed. They toasted baguette just right! A huge signature sweet tea has just a right amount without refill. My wife's soup was cold and her grilled chicken club had what looked like it was possibly fried chicken but not sure it was mostly the breading. This is a great spot!!! Food is always fresh and delicious!!! I love the veggie sandwich. It's on ciabatta bread with avocado, onions, red peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and spinach. There's a slice of cheese (optional of provolone, Swiss or cheddar) and a special sauce which may be mayonnaise. I also love the macaroni and cheese which is very cheesy and creamy.
