Sad to say I came in wanting to try Indian Food. I was greeted by the sweetest lady after she stepped out a lady came out to "Take my Order". I explained I'm not very educated with their plates so I asked what dishes they would suggest and the lady just kept saying chicken masala or what do you want? Haha I don't even know what that is I had to look it up on my phone. So after that I didn't feel very welcomed. She wasn't even talking to me by the register or standing infront of me, she just kept walking back in forth in the kitchen (no other customers were around) I had to leave before I lost my appetite. read more

This is a hidden gem in Bakersfield. Located right off Chester near 7th street, it is an excellent spot for good Indian food. I've been eating vegan for the last few weeks and they have a great selection of non-meat dishes. Kelly is wonderful and so kind and welcoming and the decor inside is amazing. Excellent food! I stopped by last night since I saw their open sign still lit. They usually close shop early so I always had a tough time getting there on time. From the outside they look like they are closed, but as soon as you enter you are welcomed by their owners, who are wonderful people. I ordered Chicken Tika Masala meal and Chicken Samosas to go. The Samosas were not my favorite but I'll try their vegetarian type next time. The Tika Masala was really good, and would recommend the dish for its value and quality of the food. Their nan they serve is homemade and reminds me of the same quality bread I used to get from a Syrian bakery in Nashville TN. Next time I'll have to dine-in. The atmosphere inside is so homey, as I waited for my take-out I felt like I was at a friend's house for dinner. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

I didn't pick up the food and so I cannot comment on the restaurant facilities or the location. It's in a rougher part of town, but that's the same for some of the best food in Bakersfield. We had fish pakoras and butter chicken with extra naan. Everyone loved their food. The fish was the best. Lightly fried, and plenty of it. read more

Fantastic! I had been itching to try something new lately so I did a little searching and stumbled on this place. I'm a big fan of Indian food so I jumped at the opportunity to try something new and exciting. I ordered the chicken tikki masala and some veggie samosas as I'm a huge fan of samosas. The chicken was great, it was very well seasoned, the cook was good and the flavor was outstanding. I really enjoyed it, the rice was a little overcooked but it happens, no worries. The only reason for the one star loss was I ordered veggie samosas so I could share with my wife who's vegetarian and I got meat samosas. A little disappointed about that but otherwise they are great and have just the right amount spice, I'll be returning. read more

Kelly and the staff were very warm and welcoming. The food was excellent. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Paratha. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very good! I loved everything I got. It was decently spicy but not so much I couldn't enjoy it. My boyfriend ordered the Spicy Chicken Burrito with a Pakistani twist and was very happy with it. The utensils are paper/plastic but the service and food make up for that easily. Went in there and the ladies in the kitchen were super nice and while they were getting everything ready a man came over and apologized for the wait(I had only been there 2 minutes) They were all so nice and the butter chicken and chicken Birya were so good! I don't eat out a lot because most restaurants in Bakersfield are a let down with a few exceptions that I will give my money to, but this place I like my wife told me about it so we went and we ordered the chicken Tikka masala and that was good but when we were waiting to order it the person I believe to be the owner told an employee to give me a taste of this beef dish in a sauce (uploaded a picture of the dish not sure of the name) and it was delicious so I ordered a Tikka masala plate and this beef plate and I gotta say this was delicious it was so rich in flavor and the homemade pita was also delicious If I wasn't keeping my calories to a minimum I would eat this all the time, this is good cooking, I will definitely eat here again and recommend it to anyone else whose looking for some good food. read more

Me and my husband wear on a trip and we were sooo hungry and this place was just near to our hotel. At first we were bit skeptical with this place as it has a very limited area of space and entirely empty. We therefore ordered two plates of Chicken tikka masala nd two sweet lassi. They served such good delicious food that we stopped talking and tried to concentrate 100% in our food. Their service was quick and the owner had a smile on her face throughout even though she was taking care of everything. I will go to this place again and I highly recommend everyone else. read more

My friends and I stopped here for a late lunch driving from Joshua Tree to San Francisco. We tried a number of the Indian dishes and all were delicious! We forgot to ask for mild spice level so it was a bit spicy for our taste but the flavors still shone through. I have a nut allergy and they were very thorough in making sure that none of the dishes we ordered contained any nuts. The only thing I didn't particularly like was that they used paper plates for serving. I forgot my purse here and didn't realize until a couple hours later on our drive. THE BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT in Bakersfield. Period. We walk in and everything was neat and clean, no funny smells nothing. Just sparkling clean! Then we were welcomed by a VERY friendly lady who seemed to be the owner. She greeted us and took our order. She made the Nan bread fresh right infront of us and we were patiently waiting and smelling the fresh bread and food! We also ordered a DELICIOUS thick mango lassi drink! The prices and portions were very reasonable too. The food was absolutely amazing and delicious. Every single thing was so flavorful and hot and fresh. We're definitely coming back regularly. Family Owned Restaurant with Incredible Food I met Kelly, one of the owners, after being told that there was a small restaurant that had vegan options. My husband picked up the food on his way home. I was so impressed with the delicious flavors I was tasting. That was probably 5+ years ago. We keep going back. My mother always loved their food when we would stop by for lunch. Maria, who works in the back, is always friendly and made my mother feel welcomed there. I've ordered chana masala (chickpeas in a wonderful sauce), lentils, cauliflower with potatoes or eggplant. Kelly always welcomes me with a smile and has some delicious surprise. I usually swing by and take home the 2 or 3 vegan options she has for the day. I've since met Bucky, the other half of this team. Kind and soft spoken man with a lovely accent. If you haven't stopped by yet, it is a must try. read more

Absolutely amazing chicken tikka masala! They smoke the chicken and they let you choose your level of spice. The lady's who prepare your food are so kind and have been working together for decades. They aren't family, but they're family, and so are you when you come here. The chicken tikka Masala is so delicious that I can't comment on anything else since I always order it, even though I've been eating here for years. But, it's got a huge following of Indian and Pakistani patrons so I imagine it's very authentic. I've even seen the mayor and other notable Bakersfield celebrities picking up food in this secret little gem. read more

I like their goat curry and veggie samosas. The goat is one of the better ones I have had. Not unduly loaded with spices. However, the chicken is mediocre. The restaurant itself has a casual feel to it and the food is served on disposables plates with plastic cutlery. There are just a couple of people including the owner that work the restaurant. You go in, place the order, find yourself a table and wait for the food to be brought to you. If you like good food but are not too picky about the decor and ambiance, then this place is for you. I had a truly horrific experience with this restaurant. I ordered catering through Kelly's restaurant for a small house party that I was having at my place and I called in 1 week in advance to place the order. Kelly took down my order and said it will be ready for the date I needed it and said to simply come at noon to pick up my order. I went in to pick up my order on the day of my event (just like she had told me the week before) and I walk in to her restaurant and she had a bewildered look on her face. She told me that she did not make my order as I did not call and remind her about it! I told her it's her job to write down my order & the day i need it and put it on some sort of calendar if she can't remember it. I asked her how this is professional and she again placed the blame on me telling me that I did not call and remind her. Not ONCE did she apologize for forgetting my order and she instead was blaming me the whole time. She was extremely rude and essentially barking at me in response to me asking her why she does not have my order ready after telling me it will be ready for pick up on this date. I left afterwards to try and find another place that can get my order ready on incredibly short notice thanks to Kelly. When I spoke with a few family friends who have ordered from her past, they also shared similar experiences where she was extremely rude and arrogant even when it was her fault and was missing multiple items from orders. So apparently at this restaurant, you have to constantly call and remind them about your order because placing the order initially and getting a date to come pick up the order is not enough. read more
