As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Kailey, who truly went above and beyond to make our visit even better. She has an amazing personality and excellent customer service skills, which really stood out. The food was delicious--super flavorful and well-prepared. The restaurant itself was clean, with nice lighting that made the atmosphere comfortable and inviting. The only downside, in my opinion, was the pricing on a couple of items. Fountain drinks were $6.50 each and only came with one refill, which felt a bit excessive. Also, a small bowl of white rice was $7, which seemed overpriced for the portion size. The food was ok. We got the combo B and I felt it was much smaller than advertised as 2 lbs, we also got half a pound of snow crab and got a small cluster only. We also got the lemon pepper fries which were not eatable, they were super salty, and I like salty food but these were too much. Employees were not even around to ask how are food is. Refills are free for 2 of them, which is great because no one even asked if we would our first refill with our drinks being empty. Honestly better places in town. My family and I came here for dinner craving a seafood boil. The prices are steep, but you get what you pay for right? Between the 4 of us, we spent nearly $300. Staff were not friendly and did not even attempt to offer so much as a smile, even once. I put 3 stars because the food was very good. However, upon sitting down, we asked for 4 waters. 3 came. No matter. Gloves and bibs come and food begins to arrive. Only 3 pairs of gloves were brought. We had to ask for a 4th pair, as we were a party of 4, 3 times from 2 different staff before we received them. Again, no matter. But then things took a bit of a turn, my sister dumped her bag on the table to see a long, dark hair in her food. Gross? Yes. Ok, things happen. Food gets sent back and remade. Food comes back out. Potatoes are missing from the bag. At this point, we're all agitated. Hardly an apology even offered, no compensation, nothing. When I made a complain to staff, we were offered a refund for the potatoes which was $3.75. I asked for a manager. None were available. Staff contacted manager and stated all they were able to provide was the previously offered $3.75. So not only was someone in our groups food contaminated with hair. But when the issue was meant to be resolved, an item was missing. Everyone at my table has worked in the service industry or still does. Never in any of our lives have we been so disregarded and under compensated for these sorts of issues, nor would we as service industry workers provide this type of service or rectification for not 1 but 2 mistakes with one meal upwards of $60. I left a name and number with staff to be contacted by management regarding our complaints at a later time. We will see if I receive a call. My once-or-twice-a-year splurge, usually on my birthday, because life is expensive and seafood isn't cheap. But after today? You couldn't pay me to come back. We walked in at 12:05, on a time crunch, it's my birthday anyhow . The place was nearly empty. The lady behind the counter helped the people in front of us, then promptly ignored us for FOURTEEN MINUTES. No "be right with you," no eye contact just leisurely strolling their drinks to the table like she was underwater. Meanwhile, a line started building behind us and she continued her one-woman disappearing act. When she finally took our order, it was with the enthusiasm of someone being forced to do community service. She then told our group of five, including three full-grown men, that we had to cram into a booth because "tables can't be pushed together." Cool cool cool --except there were literally four parties in the whole restaurant. But yeah, let's act like it's a fire hazard. We placed our order and, shocker, she went right back to ignoring everyone else in line so she could put paper on our table. I even offered to do it myself so she could acknowledge the humans waiting behind me. People who ordered before us were already eating before we even sat down. But wait, it gets dumber. I forgot to ask for butter and lemon. I go back to the counter -- she's there, sees me coming, and immediately does the classic "I'm too busy to notice you" turn. So I have to say "Ma'am" just to get her to acknowledge I exist. Lemon's free, cool. Butter? Two. Dollars. An. Ounce. That's right -- $2 for a single ounce of melted butter. At a seafood boil restaurant. I ordered three ounces. That's $6.50 for butter. More than the chicken egg I added to my boil. Think about that. Egg cheaper than butter. I'm genuinely beside myself. I know seafood isn't cheap, and I came in expecting to spend -- but not to be nickel-and-dimed into a coma while being treated like I'm bothering the staff by... existing. The food was fast, I'll give you that. But when the service is this rude, the vibes this miserable, and butter is more tightly guarded than gold, it's hard to enjoy your once-a-year treat. Girl this place was not great. First to say, the food was amazing, cooks are great. BUT our server, the lady who checked us out, was not. She was so rude and passive aggressive. She had us pay first before eating which was fine but once we wanted to order more stuff (while eating) she said we'd have have to get up and pay and then go back to eating. Worst service I've probably ever had. The food was mid at best. My sister had been bragging about this place for weeks, and we finally found time to go. After a long day, we decided to "treat ourselves." We arrived at the counter around 7:00 PM. The waitress/cashier completely ignored us when we walked in, so I kindly asked, "Are you still open?" (We had tried coming once before and were told they were closed, so I was just making sure.) Instead of responding, she stared at me and looked around -- as if to imply, "Obviously." So we said "Okay..." and proceeded to place our order. Right before we started, she suddenly said, "BUT ONLY FOR PICKUP." We looked at each other, confused -- because she had just acted like my question was unnecessary, and now she was contradicting herself. She quickly caught herself and asked, "Well, is it just you three?" I said yes, and she responded with the worst attitude imaginable: "Fine." She took our order, but as we were about to get our drinks, she began muttering under her breath: "Why do I always do this to myself? I'm so stupid," and continued talking to herself -- clearly frustrated. I can only assume she was upset for allowing us to dine in. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and just a terrible experience overall. The food didn't make up for it -- nothing special. Ate at this place last night, foremost it was extremely overpriced. I have been to many similar places and always charged individually for seafood items, but this place charged individually for corn $3.50 for 1/4, individual potatoes and not the type normally offered, only offered chicken egg instead of quail eggs. We decided to splurge and ordered oysters, ordered 12 served 6, with no sauce or horseradish. Tasted them and they tasted old, went back to cashier told them we just wanted our money back and informed to it would take several days. Prices were not posted on menu, and I learned that I paid $33.00 for old oysters. Sign posted at cash register that refunds were not available if we dialed the food. First off I ordered the shrimp po boy with extra shrimp because I knew that in CA you have to do that to get it anywhere near what a shrimp po boy should have in it as far as shrimp content, they gave me 2 pieces of shrimp on the side for $4.50, They also have an oyster po boy on the menu in the restaurant but no longer offer it although they sell po boys and fried oysters so go figure. My daughter had the chicken TENDERS but according to her there was nothing tender about them and that they were actually tough and lacked seasoning. I came here on a Tuesday evening. I've had Boiling Crab in the LA/OC area many times, so I couldn't help but compare the two. I had some of the EZ PEEL shrimp, mussels, and clams; with all 3 sauces mixed together. The seafood was cooked really well, I just wished the sauce had more flavor. It felt like it was missing something, mostly tasted of butter. The service was good. Unfortunately, there was only one employee taking orders and tending tables as well. I hate when establishments are cheap and don't staff enough people. It leads to an uncomfortable environment for both the employees and customers alike. Ordered out while we were up in bakersfield. We ordered the following. 2 lbs of mussels in garlic and butter, 3 lbs of king crab legs, 2lbs of snow crabs, and the total bill came out to $342. The actual crab legs were huge!!! Lage pieces of meat in each leg. Cooked to perfection. Soft and tender definitely not overdone. Each piece tasted sweet and buttery. The butter sauce it came with was amazing as well. For a group of 7 adults and 3 little kids it was definitely a lot of food, and we even had some left overs. A very rich meal. My only knock on this is the price point, it's pretty expensive. King crab legs per lb goes for $66/lb, and the snow crabs are $22/lb. But overall though it was really good. It was more than enough food for all of us. Cooked extremely well. Flavors were on point. Definitely a place to go to if you're going to have a special meal. Will definitely be back. If you love seafood you should definitely visit this place. Seafood is definitely my favorite and I would definitely choose seafood over a steak any day. The first time I visited this establishment was for one of my really good friend's daughter's 13th birthday. It was a crazy house that day as the restaurant literally reorganized their tables to fit my friend's relatives and friends. When we got there I didn't really know how it worked, so I guess you walk up to the counter and order what you want. There was tons of people so I understand the delay in our order. The staff didn't look stressed, it was an organized chaos. Food came out nice and steamy, the crawfish was small. I was expecting a decent size crawfish as I grew up eating tons of crawfish and I was hoping it would hit the spot and remind me of my childhood, but it definitely wasn't the best for me. The shrimp w the head on was super delicious. I absolutely loved it. It was super juicy, it was a good size, and it was extremely messy... but very worth it. The fried calamari is really delicious and I would definitely order that again. The second time we came was on Good Friday and it was a really bad choice to come that day since everyone was eating seafood that day. We ordered our food and it took them about an hour and a half to be ready with our food, but not only that but the lady serving our table didn't look happy. I don't blame her because it was a really busy day and she probably was waiting on tons of tables. The reason why I had to bring the ratings down a notch is because for me the experience was just okay. I can't believe that a seafood restaurant, local in fact uses frozen corn. I can't get over the frozen corn. I love corn, so as soon as I bit into it, I immediately knew it was store bought and frozen. There are a bunch of other competitors for this type of food now in Bakersfield and seafood boils are just all over now, so this restaurant for me is definitely right in the middle for me. This is one of a handful of boiled seafood places that have popped up around town. The food is cooked well. I go for the combined seasoning flavor. It garlicky and flavorful. Not too salty. Medium spice is probably plenty for most people. I went extra spicy. I loved it, but I'm abnormal. It made my nose run and my brow sweat just like it should. The seafood was not overdone like some places, and the easy peel shrimp were just that. I like the location. It's close to my house and not in the ghetto like one of the alternatives.
